Just think how much better off we would be today if the real elected pesident had taken office in 2000, no family fued in Iraq guuning for “the man who tried to kill my daddy’”
Remembering Kerry, a dead cat was improvement as well, Jeli.
Ah, Al Gore the popular president we never got. I often wonder if Clinton had the moral fiber to at least resign and Gore had the office for even a short time if we might have had things differently. Certainly Gore would have learned to listen to Intelligence reports.
Redkay, do some research. Bush was later proven to have been legally elected by a majority of the electoral college. Research by many news organizations showed that he did after all win Florida. Now popular vote totals may be another thing, but we are a Republic, not a Democracy. Our founders realized that majority rule cannot and will not always be right. What would happen to the minorities if we had majority rule for example? Also, the country would be ruled by the large population areas on the east and west coast.
Sorry to get political, but I get tired of reading misinformed statements.
Mondale only took Minnesota, his home state, and that he barely took. Mondale:1,1036,364 vs Reagan 1,032,603. The margin was only 3,761 votes. The Libertarian candidate received 15,482 votes, over four times Mondale’s margin of victory.

had about the same chance Mondale did, too.

Cute. One of the reasons I’ve always enjoyed Breathed is that he could, and did, poke fun at both sides, even though his preferences were clear.

I thought Mondale took a couple of states?
Ray_C over 14 years ago
Mondale took only his home state of Minnesota. On that score, he did better than Al Gore.

AlGore is still a looser.

… and maybe even a loser.

Hey, Al Gore has been making a small fortune on the environmental lecture circuit. He just needed to find his niche, that’s all.

Bill the Cat could hardly have done worse than Fritz Mondale did against The Gipper in 1984.
It will be sort of like Madame President Palin’s blowout landslide election in 2012! See ya, Barry!

This’n was even funnier in ‘84. How many losing V.P. candidates have ever taken the big chair? Palin’s a joke that wasn’t that funny the first time.

Lewreader and Ray C: Mondale took Washington, DC and his home state of Minnesota (by less than 1%) in his race with Reagan.

Sarah Palin for Prez and lets be done with civilization. Just get it over with.

I notice that the straw-hatted guy chose the dead cat over both Mondale and Reagan.

Not only a dead cat, but also a penguin with anchovy breath! How did they not win in ‘84?
It’s ironic that eight years later we elected Bill the Tomcat…

…i understand Mondale was badly hobbled by the SNL skit that had him singing Day-O during a debate - hilarious!..

At the time of this posting the polls haven’t yet closed on the 2010 primaries. Is it too late to write in Bill the Cat?
