Did I miss a good turnips joke just for the sake of a PSA about mind pollution, widespread hedonism, and secular humanism? Of course, I’ve never had to observe graphic depictions of radical cosmetic body surgery—unless you count that one photo I briefly glimpsed of the “new” Kenny Rogers….
It’s not that we actually think not censoring stuff is going to ‘pollute the mind and lead to mass hedonism.’ It’s that being actually denied of one’s rights and being oppressed by those more powerful is not identical to being restrained from out-grossing each other for the sheer purpose of shock value.
Out-grossing! Ah, fond memories of the boys growing up and their gross out competitions in the back seat while driving to the grandparents. I thought it was funny, mom not so much.
Yeah, seeing bad stuff on TV MIGHT one day lead to hedonism. I guess the guys who were laughing about it then haven’t paid any attention to TV, the movies, most internet site, the news or the street corner lately. It has happened as those doomsayers said it would.
Hitler claimed to be a good Catholic..Absurd , but that is what he claimed,.Secular Humanists can be atheists, most believe in evolution. Doubt that many believe in what you think of as “ethical relativism.”.Stalin probably had no beliefs in anything other than self. He was supposedly a Marxist, which would mean an atheist. but Marx would never claim the likes of Stalin as anything other than a tyrant.
