Luckily, cartoon characters can always (as Stephan Pastis puts it) un-die. Hurrah for Cutter John, the Starship Enterpoop, and its intrepid crew of spacey cadets!
The 1984 Olympics were held in Los Angeles, and had a ridiculous number of “official” products (including, I think, candy bars) found in all sorts of advertising. My favorite home grown spoof was a little yellow car in my neighborhood that had stenciled on its side the following: “This is Chester. The official Volvo of the LA Olympic Games.”

How I loved the Starship Enterpoop adventures. They never got old.

It’s always good to see Cutter John. One of my favorite characters in Bloom County.

’80 was the Moscow Olympics. ’84 was LA.

@OmniusThe 1984 games were in Los Angeles. The US boycotted the 1980 games in Moscow over the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. How’s that for irony?
