Women want men to be honest? Oh, please. Women are far smarter than that, mostly. They want a Mark who is ambitious and desperate enough that he will work hard concocting pretty lies instead of some stupid, lazy boor (like me…) who will tell a women what she already knows to be true. Useless and no fun. What’s more, then, at their convenience and often after they’re married, a woman will catch a guy out on his lie(s) and work his confusion, guilt, fear and humiliation like mad for their own ends and purposes. They don’t call it “The Tender Trap” for nothin’.
My wife wants honesty from me about as much as she wants me to validate her thoughts. It can be like walking a tightrope. I try hard not to be too direct.
