Fresh fruit salad
Peanut butter toast to dip in your coffee (HOW MANY OF YOU REMEMBER THAT ONE?)

NO NUCLEAR COFFEE TONIGHT, THE WEATHER FORECAST IS BAD, AND THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IS BLAMING IT ON A DISTURBANCE SOMEWHERE NEAR COLORADO!
Brunch looks great, Dry! I still don’t have the courage to try the scrapple, but I’ll have the poached eggs, some french toast, some fresh fruit, and Irish breakfast tea.
Here in reality it’s 3:30 AM, time to consider the safety issues involved in waking the wife and asking for breakfast. My coffee pot is still electric as the NRC hasn’t approved nuclear here yet.

Cleo We’ve been really busy in RL these days. Company. friends to visit, and now the beginning of Christmas shopping. I miss getting on BT and I hardly ever do the ‘toon tour. ;>(
Well Dawn it is good to see you when you are able to make it. Right now RL is calling me I have got to go make a chili adobo sauce. Company is coming for Mexican food tonight. BBL
@celecca, what can we say? Dry and JFri have table scraps–they fight over who will be serving who on the table for thanksgiving–and like Dusty, we’re lost…
Dawn - I get a lot out of a stack of cookbooks that merged when my wife and I added our own collections. My wife and I have two different styles of cooking. She generally follows recipes, but makes notations in the book as to her feeling about the dish (Very good, don’t bother, or needs more garlic, etc.) I tend to use cookbooks as inspiration, but may change things around at will. Today the ancho chili paste is out of a Rick Bayless cookbook. I am about to make salsa, which I do following my own ideas.
Lonewolf -
1)I’m a vendor at a crafts bazaar. Last year, I barely sold anything. This year? I diversified, and made less jewelry and more ornaments and vessels/stash boxes. I hope that my offerings are different enough (everyone is making and selling jewelry - at least a third are offering it this year) that people will buy!
2) I am NOT a morning person and the bazaar begins at 8 am. Even Doc’s coffee wouldn’t help. So it will be a relief to get home dump my boxes in a corner, and curl up in my comfy chair.

I’ve added hand-painted plaster ornaments, wooden cut-work boxes, and glass ornaments. Nothing fancy - just adding color or gold leaf to someone else’s product.
I thank you, but unless anyone in the Tribe is in Irmo, SC (home of the Okra Festival - not kidding) between 8:30 - 1:30 pm tomorrow), you’re probably out of luck. I don’t have a whole lot of time to do other bazaars, and most of my product (ornaments aside) needs to be seen and felt in RL to be appreciated.

Reminds me of an uncle of mine who married–both were English Profs. Their house is utterly, absolutely full to the gills with books, often duplicated–since neither one was willing to give up the copy with their notes in it…
so whats funny is that he tells me i can house sit and then he tells me “but you have to come home every night for supper” how anoying is that???? grrrr i want to be free free free!!
terry lol im in so much pain since the weather keeps changing i told them all last night. that if i keep getting hurt and in so much pain when the weather changes i wont make it to 20.
JFri, I’m in! Break out that there rum and coke, sir! And I have been thirsty for a Mojito, so I’ll supply those! And a nice relish tray, can’t drink on an empty stomach!
Hey Johnny, actually, we’ve had more sunny days so far for Nov. than cloudy ones, but when it rains,( I love rain), but the clouds hang so low in the sky, it gets depressing! It just gets so foggy! We actually had a thunderstorm last night! Made me miss summer even more!
johnny, I guess our posts overlapped! JFri was telling me what BBQ sauce he was using. And I am starving, haven’t eaten all day! Except for a couple of carrots! LOL!
johnny, FOOD is good for you! Even if it’s just salt and vinegar chips, or Stouffers Cheddar Baked Potatoes, or the stuff you really should eat, like red and green veggies and fruit! :-D
getting nervous, Cleo? Here’s your mojito, hope it’s to your liking! My house and food could be ABSOLUTELY perfect, and I still get nervous! Don’t know why!
JFri it is pouring here as well. It won’t matter soon considering I am drinking silver Patron neat and mojitos with you guys and gals. I am really looking forward to tonights dinner. Yum
Man, did I mess up by not getting Ricky Williams in my lineup on time! I wasn’t even thinking about him playing on Thursday when I picked him off waivers!!
Oh gee! I remember listening to that, and a bunch of other Beach Boy songs, in the summer in the back yard when me and the kids in the neighborhood were toasting marshmallows!
The Astronauts were before the BeachBoys and had some great sounds. i can’t find “Surfing” on Youtube but had an old LP - those were the days. My son eventually found it somewhere but if you look up the Astonauts you do find some of their sounds.
Funny thing is, I had all these LP albums, ELO, Dylan, Quincy Jones, Kansas, Eagles, BB, etc. and my oldest son laid claim to them AND the turntable! Seems todays youth are into those old hits and groups. And then he went through my mom and dad’s albums and took some of the old albums my mom had, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Good music never goes out of date, it just recylces!
You are so right - both my boys have collections of the “old time” music and enjoy it - on their mp3 players and cd players (say the sound is much better than mp3 and FLAC.)
I Still have all my old vinyl and I have a Kyocera component system with custom built speakers using 10 gauge wire, complete with turntable, CD player and dual tape deck!!
FLAC - Free Lossless Audio Codec
A free, open source codec for lossless audio compression and decompression
Supposedly better than mp3 but still not as good as cd
My husband made KEF speakers and we have a Quad (British) system - wonderful sound.
And I saw Elvis in Fayetteville NC back in the day! Great concert! And I was never an Elvis groupie, liked him, but not a “Hanger On”, but I do remember the day he died! My neighbor and I were heading over to each others house at the same time to tell each other, and met in our backyards!
Yes, JFri, we’ve had more rain this month than I’ve ever seen. The creek behind our house is a full sized roaring river. A massive log has finally been dislodged. It has been there for twenty years! Scary!!! Luckily we are high. The town of Duncan - not far from here has had a large area evacuated because of flooding.
JFri, remember what, LaBamba? My cousin and I used to dance around our respective houses to that song! Now, go on, make a comment, snicker or snort or snerk! :-D But we had FUN!
Catchy?, Terry, I hope that was sarcasm! When I was a kid, I liked it, now it has that same irritating sound to me like “Tiptoe through the Tulips!” LOL!
*JFri, OF COURSE WE WERE! That’s why you and I get along so well! *
(And I caught the Jay and Americans links! GREAT STUFF! Oh to be young again, but he!! if I still feel young what the F!, Right?)
Carmy, I wonder if I still have my Annette books, they may have been before your time. That was back in like ‘63 ‘64,? Somewhere thereabouts, the time of the beach party movies.
Wave on Wave
This is a fellow Texan. I think this is his only “hit.” I think it’s kinda of catchy. Be warned, there is a commercial before the video starts!
Dry, I was about 2 or 3 at that time. I did have older siblings that were 12, 11 and 9 years older than me. I was exposed to all the cool music through them. We had a backyard shed in the house we lived in before we moved to the house that my Mom still lives in. Anyway, we had a “Club.” One of my brothers was the president and our Club song was, “I want to hold your foot.” My bro changed up the words. He used to make us sing it, LMBO!!
Carmy
I probably saw every Annette & Frankie movie along with every Elvis movie made in the 60’s. My brother was 6 years older than me and my sister and I watched what my older, BIGGER brother watched! LOL
I hate to skip out on such a great run down memory lane with you all, but I am not feeling very well right now. Not sure what it is but it feels better when I lay down. Maybe the meds again? I’ll catch ya’all tomorrow.
JFri, I remember that song from Joe South.
I have heard so many songs, but sometimes I forget who sings them and vice versa. Sometimes I just forget them entirely until something or someone jogs my memory. The first time I heard a Beatles A to Z weekend, I heard several songs that I didn’t even know were Beatles songs.

”Dawn - I get a lot out of a stack of cookbooks that merged when my wife and I added our own collections. I am about to make salsa, which I do following my own ideas.”
Reminds me of an uncle of mine who married–both were English Profs. Their house is utterly, absolutely full to the gills with books, often duplicated–since neither one was willing to give up the copy with their notes in it…

Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Gee Doc do I HAVE TO BEHAVE? That’s no fun at all!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Hey Johnny, actually, we’ve had more sunny days so far for Nov. than cloudy ones, but when it rains,( I love rain), but the clouds hang so low in the sky, it gets depressing! It just gets so foggy! We actually had a thunderstorm last night! Made me miss summer even more!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Where did that turd bird get to? I still have that basting sauce waiting! The longer it simmers, the better it tastes!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Johnny, rum and coke? The preferred beverage of college students!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Snuck up behind you, Dry and left your rum & Coke!!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
I’m baaaaaaack! Ha-ha! Where did everybody go?
bmonk about 15 years ago
@Dry, there is one theory that you need not behave–as long as you don’t get caught.
Caught in time, that is.
That’s because it’s easier to ask forgiveness than permission…
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Ribs on the barbie in a rain storm!!! Dedicated griller!!
bmonk about 15 years ago
@JFri, that’s ‘cause you can dodge between the raindrops and lightning!
Meep! Meep! Zoooooooooooom!Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago

Gotta go–Dry, I said, that’s a theory.
Note that I did not say a good theory!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
You don’t really drink that much, do you Johnny?
johnnydoc5 about 15 years ago
Is that my line?
johnnydoc5 about 15 years ago
On Sundays through Wednesdays, I don’t touch the stuff. Thursdays are wild cards. On the weekend, I have been known to indulge in a drink or two.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
NO!!! I’m using a nice Jack Daniels bbq sauce!!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Come again?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago

johnnydoc5 about 15 years ago
Who comes again?
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
no, THIS is good music!! Very obscure for this group!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
That is a good one JFri. Too bad songs were so short back then!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
My company has left. Now James is asking about you all! Ha-ha. This could get tough using PG language!! LOL
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
JFri, I loved the Beach Boys! Had a big poster in my room of them! And the ice cream is delicious, BTW!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
You want LONGER songs?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Terry some of my favorite songs were short!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Or this?
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
JFri That’s a great loooooonnng song!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Dry
Some of mine were short also. But they would have been just as good if they were longer.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Bummer, don’t know why it’s not playing!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Yes, that’s a great song! The full length version of Layla is just a bit shorter!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
That’s another good one JFri.
I’ll give 2 to1 odds it is cut off at the end being you’re only allowed 10 minutes through youtube!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
It stopped at 17 seconds.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
I just tried it again and it is working.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
JFri it’s working for me!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
That song sure does bring back memories! Slightly blurry, but memories none the less.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Here’s a gut splitter!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Yeah that’s a LOONG one! Puts Layla to shame! But I loved Layla!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Now how did they get 18 minutes when youtube rules state 10 minute limit? That’s why you see part1, part2, etc.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Here’s one that is a particular blast from my past, especially the mention of Nassau!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
These are ones I listened to as a kid when my brother was here. I can picture him plain as day. Good, no………Great memories!!!
He loved the Beach Boys!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Alice’s Restaurant is sooooo funny!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Oh gee! I remember listening to that, and a bunch of other Beach Boy songs, in the summer in the back yard when me and the kids in the neighborhood were toasting marshmallows!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
How about some obscure Jan & Dean?
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
JFri, That duo was another one of his and my favorites.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
this was one of his favorites.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
And oddly enough, that is EXACTLY where Jan Berry had his accident!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Roger that Kemosabe!

The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
This was a great song but I can’t find the Beach Boys’ version on You Tube. Theirs was the best version, IMHO.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Hi Dawn!
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
The Astronauts were before the BeachBoys and had some great sounds. i can’t find “Surfing” on Youtube but had an old LP - those were the days. My son eventually found it somewhere but if you look up the Astonauts you do find some of their sounds.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Then there were the Trashmen

This is my favorite from them Dry.

The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Yeah, Terry. They actually recorded at the same studio and Sidewalk Surfin’ was an intentional ripoff of Catch A Wave.

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

8Track!The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Not everything in 8 track, but a lot. And I have a WORKING component stereo with 8 track player!!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
I actually have an 8 track player to put in my hemi ‘Cuda some day when I’m all rich & famous!!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
I have two console stereos with 8 Track & Record Player. And I have 2 –8 Track players for cars. One plays cassettes or 8 Tracks!
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
We still use our turntable at times! have a very good cartridge and the vinyl sounds like cds
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Funny thing is, I had all these LP albums, ELO, Dylan, Quincy Jones, Kansas, Eagles, BB, etc. and my oldest son laid claim to them AND the turntable! Seems todays youth are into those old hits and groups. And then he went through my mom and dad’s albums and took some of the old albums my mom had, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Good music never goes out of date, it just recylces!
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
You are so right - both my boys have collections of the “old time” music and enjoy it - on their mp3 players and cd players (say the sound is much better than mp3 and FLAC.)
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
I Still have all my old vinyl and I have a Kyocera component system with custom built speakers using 10 gauge wire, complete with turntable, CD player and dual tape deck!!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
What is FLAC?
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Ancient music!!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
I have a Harmon Kardon component system packed away with a similar setup.
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
FLAC - Free Lossless Audio Codec A free, open source codec for lossless audio compression and decompression Supposedly better than mp3 but still not as good as cd My husband made KEF speakers and we have a Quad (British) system - wonderful sound.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
How about some Buddy Holly,
Dry??DawnAvril about 15 years ago
There seem to be a few audiophiles on this site…
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
The title of that song came from a catch phrase from an old John Wayne move……The Searchers, I believe.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Dawn, I used to know a guy with Klipsch Horn speakers!! The BIG ones!!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Dawn, you getting that driving rain up your way, too?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
JFri, I’m here! Didn’t Buddy Holly die in a plane crash? That song was prophetic, maybe?
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Yes, Dry, in Clear Lake, Iowa. I have been there and seen the corn field he crashed in, along with Richie Valens and The Big Bopper!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
La Bamba
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
And I saw Elvis in Fayetteville NC back in the day! Great concert! And I was never an Elvis groupie, liked him, but not a “Hanger On”, but I do remember the day he died! My neighbor and I were heading over to each others house at the same time to tell each other, and met in our backyards!
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
Yes, JFri, we’ve had more rain this month than I’ve ever seen. The creek behind our house is a full sized roaring river. A massive log has finally been dislodged. It has been there for twenty years! Scary!!! Luckily we are high. The town of Duncan - not far from here has had a large area evacuated because of flooding.

carmy about 15 years ago
Which post?
Hi Terry!COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Annette Funicello & Frankie Avalon!!!! Ha-ha!!
carmy about 15 years ago
Wave on Wave This is a fellow Texan. I think this is his only “hit.” I think it’s kinda of catchy. Be warned, there is a commercial before the video starts!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago

Terry, if you haven’t seen the movie ”Back to the Beach” you should see it sometime. This is the movie that has Dick Dale and SRV jamming on Pipeline.

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Carmy, That was with Annette and Frankie?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Carmy Never heard that one. Bookmarked it! LOVE IT! Thanks!
carmy about 15 years ago
Dry, I was about 2 or 3 at that time. I did have older siblings that were 12, 11 and 9 years older than me. I was exposed to all the cool music through them. We had a backyard shed in the house we lived in before we moved to the house that my Mom still lives in. Anyway, we had a “Club.” One of my brothers was the president and our Club song was, “I want to hold your foot.” My bro changed up the words. He used to make us sing it, LMBO!!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago

carmy about 15 years ago
JFri, your “fun” song sounded very familiar, but I can’t remember if and when I heard it before.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
LOL. Nope. You don’t need to, but you are welcome too. Mua likes to see that I am tucked in early ‘cause he needs his beauty sleep.
He only slept 20 hours yesterday.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Well, if you like Pink Floyd…….

Thanks for all the great tunes. I liked that one with the Beach Boys way back, and then Alice’s restaurant.
Buddy Holly is a hoot to watch now. I loved that song though. I have many happy memories of dancing to these tunes.

That Kangaroo song has the same tune as a Jamaican song I know. I’m too tired to look it up, it is sung by the Heritage Singers.
carmy about 15 years ago
JFri, yes I did like the fun song. It was, uh, FUN!

Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
JFri The song is on cassette here. They are local talent from Jamaica and have travelled the world singing. I used to go to all their concerts here.

Watch this clip to see the group I mean. I’ll look up the song title for you.
Black Heritage Singers

JFri, I remember that song from Joe South. I have heard so many songs, but sometimes I forget who sings them and vice versa. Sometimes I just forget them entirely until something or someone jogs my memory. The first time I heard a Beatles A to Z weekend, I heard several songs that I didn’t even know were Beatles songs.

Why yes Sir! JFri!
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
And on that note, I am going to bed.
You may tuck me in now, James.
Good Night Happy Yappers!
