Ten thousand Orcs charging in the rain! Just what one needs to see before going to bed!
Thanks for putting CocoMocha on the menu, Lonewolf. Whip up another turkey for me, Stucco. And may the rest of your Thanksgiving leftovers disappear quickly and tastily, Tribe.
Well Doc your brain has been operating in the nuclear zone for years now so some deviations are too be expected. LOL When I worked in retail I always enjoyed the slack after the holidays. The days moved slower, but the stress level was greatly reduced.
then again, I had to work the cash register as well. That is where the stress element enters into things. I much preferred stocking as I didn’t have to deal with wound up shoppers. I could never go shopping on Black Friday. I couldn’t handle the mobs of inconsiderate deal seekers who push, shove, fight and curse to get the item that you may have beat them to.
The last years of retail that I worked was as a manager of a small state run liquor store. I only had one other employee who worked part time. Consequently, I had to do everything, including bringing the load in myself and ordering. I had a very good knowledge of my customer’s purchases so ordering was easy. That is until Christmas and New Years and Thanksgiving rolled around. That was when people who never came in the rest of the year would show up. Surprise was rampant as to what would be purchased and often they would rely on me for what to buy, but I always ended up with several items selling that you just couldn’t predict, leaving me with blank spots on the shelf until the next shipment day.
Good morning everyone. Just stopped in to say hi before I go to sleep. I just got home a short time ago. Saturday night is usually very quiet but last night we had several stragglers heading for Calgary for the Grey Cup. This evening will probably be fairly busy as they all head back home.
Soon it will be time for Christmas shopping. Apparently the must-have gift for this year [according to some sources anyway] will be will be reindeer doodoo jewelry. Thanks but I think I’ll pass.
And on that note, am I too late for breakfast? Omelettes hash browns, fruit slices and juice sound really good.
serena good morning dear. I actually have a reindeer doo doo story. Years ago, my girlfriend and I were invited to Hood Canal for an oyster feed. She was wearing a pair of those earrings her mother had sent her from Alaska. As dusk approached we gathered around a roaring fire. Our host erected a large aluminum disk on top of the fire. Over the course of the evening we pigged out on any oysters. Heading home, my girlfriend and I were sitting in the back of the van and she discovered that she was missing an earring. Our speculation led to, “I wonder if somebody ate it.”
Good story Cleo .A few years ago I saw some keychains etc. with moose po op and there was someone making jewelry and stuff with mouse poo p. Yuck.
Docplease hold off on the snowmaking for several months and then pass on it altogether. A couple of days ago we got about an inch of snow and that is enough. You must have been testing your snow-a-pult and got your aim wrong.
Well my bed is starting to look pretty comfy so I’ll sign off for awhile. Night night allllzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Doc congratulations. I just don’t want to read the following headline.
Young Colorado man found buried under a massive pile of cartoon strips. Doctor Toon; had been collecting comics for most of his life. Details are sketchy, but apparently he had been trying to figure out what to do with his collection and had apparently forgotten to feed his cats. In an attempt to get his attention the cats, it seems, leaped to the top of a large file cabinet which upended upon the unfortunate man. The accident has severely damaged the young man’s mind as he repeatedly referred to Officer Proboscis as Opus. Doctor Rex Finegold, says despite clarification, the man continues to call him Doctor Rex Morgan. Thoughts are that he will be transfered to the Funny Farm.
Doc, I used to be super heavy into collecting, trading and going to shows for Lionel Trains! When Wolfangil came a long, the hobby “time” naturally dwindled down to an amount we were both comfortable with. She also was afraid I would quit all together.

Hi, Terry! I know you & Mopar will be happy to know that the car I bought is a Chrysler - PT Cruiser. I’ve always liked them, but never have owned one before.
I’ll bet Packer Management is crying in their respective beers right now! But in retrospect, they made a good choice for Brett, , because BRETT is SHINING! He and the Vikings have CLICKED!
@celecca, I’m going back through the Wheel of Time (aka Randland), and trying the Dresden Files. Waiting on several other series to come out with the next installment. And, of course, history, theology, and other such subjects.
Doctor Toon: Well, now I know why you picked that moniker. Will wonders never cease. (I recommend the Library of Congress. Surely they wouldn’t, couldn’t refuse you - but what do I know?)
shikamoo: I’ve thrown a few comments at you here and there on UClick. I’ve only become a regular at the Big Top very recently. I’ve been on considerably longer on other threads. Glad you like the CocoMocha (now if only I can remember where I posted the recipe)…
At this moment, hearing the entirety of J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion in its entirety, for the first time in my life. One of his most dynamic pieces, by far…
Terry - It is a 2001 - no extended warrenty offered. We bought it from a small used car dealer, who works out of his home. With my hubby doing most of our mechanical work, it is rare for us to spend the bucks on extended warrenties. It shows wear & tear, but for 138,000 miles, you would expect some. Since the van has 210,000, this will be an improvement. Do you have any idea what the mpg is usually on a 2001 with a manual transmission? The van only gets about 14-18 mpg (it is all-terrain).
Rmom, I am an ASE certified mechanic and it still pays for me to have an extended warranty if at all possible. The vehicle should be 10 years old or newer for this to be benificial though. The commercial with Mike Wallace of Nascar is a crock because they over inflate the repair prices, but extended warranties in most cases are well worth it. For me, the two policies I’ve had paid for themselves just in parts, not including labor. With what had been repaired during those cases, I could have bought 4 policies!
We haven’t had any expensive repairs that an extended warranty would have helped with, so we’ve been doing okay. When we bought a used Lexus, he bought one for that, since we knew the parts would be expensive. Didn’t ever make a claim, though, and had it several years.
I used to work for Montgomery Wards (years ago, obviously) in the credit department, and found out what a rip-off the extended warranties on appliances were, so I’ve never been fond of them. I try to keep enough $ in savings to pay for the emergencies, instead of paying insurance premiums. Oh, we do have home, life, health and car insurance, it isn’t like we don’t buy ANY insurance. But for appliances & cars, it hasn’t seemed like a good investment for us.
Thanks for the info, Terry. I know when we first bought the van (probably over 100,000 at that point) it got about 18-20 mpg. We drive a lot of highway miles - usually about 20 miles of highway before we get into much city driving. We’re hoping the PT will do better than the van. My dad always said manual transmissions had better mpg than automatics, but that was clear back in the 70’s when he told me that.
Dry - I saw your comment elsewhere about Tom Selleck. I agree - he’s still attractive! Our primary physician reminds me of Tom, so it is always a pleasure to see him! (Our doctor has a great personality, too.)
Terry - I don’t think we’ve bought any vehicles with more than 200,000 miles. Drove almost all of ours until after they had racked up that many miles, but usually between 200-250,000, we’ve gotten rid of them. They’re usually not worth the time & money to keep them reliable at that point. I don’t mind driving older vehicles, but I don’t like driving a piece of junk, either.
My hubby does get the stuff to hook up his laptop to a vehicle and check the codes, etc., as that is usually worth it. Body work, tires, alignment & transmissions are about the only things we pay someone else to do. We have old friends who have a body shop, and other old friends with a transmission shop, so that is a help at not getting ripped off. We had a great alignment shop, but it was a family business, and didn’t have a younger generation who wanted to take it over, so it is closed. I think the only time I’ve had a dealer work on something since I’ve been married was for a recall.
I understand Rmom. You had me confused when you slid your “old van” into the conversation and mentioned 200k miles. I thought you were talking about the PT Cruiser. I have two customers that call theirs vans.
The vehicles are getting more and more elaborate and I am constantly going to classes for the “upgrades”!
Oh Terry, you didn’t get me going. :-) I just wasn’t sure which you meant, since I know how badly you wanted the Bears to win today! But alas! That was not to be!
You know, Brett is 40, that should give us all some hope! LOL!
And I know what I want for Christmas, probably won’t get it, because a fortune was spent on my last GENUINE #4 PACKER Jersey!
Dry, actually at 4-5 won loss record, it didn’t matter if the Bears won or not. I was more concerned with the Fantasy FB players I have and some are from both teams.
RMom, that was on Duplex. I love my doctor too, but he sure doesn’t look like Tom Selleck! But he’s funny, and nice, and takes the time to ACTUALLY TALK TO ME! Imagine that!
Howdy all. I got wrapped up today in a very difficult 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle that my wife bought for her mom to work on over Thanksgiving. It is very complex and I have become riveted and I have never been an jigsaw puzzle devotee.
Terry - Sorry for the confusion! I guess I thought you remembered I have a Caravan. I do think the PT is like a small van, which is one of the reasons I like it. I shop at Sam’s Club, in addition to my other stops, so by the time I get all of my shopping done for the week (or more), the vehicle is pretty full. Since I don’t usually go into Wichita (except for church) more than once a week, and not every week, I stock up when I go. Add library books, cooler(s) and you can see why I need cargo room. That was the main reason we had SUV’s, until the vans with back doors on the driver’s side got old enough to be in our price range. (When the kids were still in car seats, I didn’t want to walk clear around to the passenger side.)
We currently own 5 vehicles, although we’re shooting to have only 4. The accountant in me hates car payments, so we try to avoid those. But with 3 drivers, it helps to have a spare in case of a breakdown. Now to see if we can get some $ out of the van. Then we’ll be looking for a Dodge crew cab pickup to pull the 5th wheel, and then we’ll work on getting rid of the ‘92 Suburban, with a Camaro engine. Between our vehicles & trailers, it really comes in handy to have several acres to park all of them. Especially when my hubby brings home the company truck (sometimes with a 30’ trailer attached), I’m sure glad we don’t live in the city!
Terry aww thanks. Im home now all. No more house sitting. and guess what. i got my lap top hooked up to the internet and i fixed our wireless problem. go me. haha so happy. happy happy. :D im not crazy i sware.
Dry - Sounds like we both have excellent doctors! Mine is very good at listening - what I really like is if I have a hunch as to what the problem might be, he’ll actually start treating it that way, while waiting on the test results. It probably doesn’t hurt that my hunches have been correct, in the 20+ years we’ve been going to him. (And he’s only a year older than me!) He’s also funny - my husband had a precancerous mole removed. So, the following year, the doc did a full body examination on my hubby, to see if any other moles looked suspicious. While my hubby’s lying face down, stark naked on the exam table, the doc asks if it is okay for a class of nursing students to observe! (He is/was also on the faculty for the med school, so totally believable.) He was just kidding - no students, but I wished I could have seen my husband’s reactions! LOL!
I’ve got to sign off for the night. I need to get up about 4am, to ride to work with my hubby, so I can pick up the PT where we left it. (Hard for 2 drivers to drive 3 vehicles at the same time.)
So, I need to start getting ready for bed.
Cleo - Have fun with the jigsaw puzzle! I like them in moderation - not addicted to them, but I can enjoy them.
We have not been the same without you Tabby. You keep us sane. Well, you keep all of us sane except for Dry. She has a bizarre fixation on an old quarterback. She keeps walking around singing “Come on Baby light my Fire.”
We keep answering back “Come On Baby Please retire.”
Cleo oh i have missed you all. she is a littlw bizarre. and i know here singing is not so good. you are sure some strong people. lol “come on baby light my fire” that has to be scary. poor y’all. love your reply to it, but do you realy think if he would retire she would stop singing?
hey Tabby!
I think that I will have to wait for tomorrow for the answer, I gots work in the morning. So I’ll have to get to bed soon.
Peace and love all!
That was passing yards for the game! And that is for the most he has ever had in on game(402 yards passing)! The all-time record is by Norm Van Brocklin with 554 yards!
I dropped in to say Good Night. I seem to do that a lot these days, but I am either extra busy, or extra tired. I can’t decide which!
I fell asleep this afternoon, and when I awoke, I had laundry to do, vacuuming and tidying up- and I never did finish all my homework. So I’ll get to bed now and wake up earlier to do that.
Norm Van Brocklin? That’s the best you can do? Let’s see, I was what, not even born yet, 1951. So that is how many years ago? LOL! Give me a break! Brett is the best that has been around in a LONG TIME! Everybody knows it, they just HATE to admit it!
Dry, I was just saying about the most yards Brett has thrown for in a game. That’s what they were talking about, not an alltime record.
It makes no difference who, but it’s one of the records he doesn’t own. :-)
Dry no comment on the color things? or on me telling you to take a break? wow. who are yuo and what did u do wiht my dry? by the way i have a question for you. just poped into my head. ;o)
P.S (This is why I am called Shika, I keep doing this.)

Bach is one of my favorites, although I have many “favorites!” Depends on the day.
going to bed good night all see you latter. peace and love. computer about to crash and my head is going the hit the key board any min. and i have to unpack, may do that tomorrow.

I’ve got Favre on two of my Fantasy FB teams, so I’m happy, but it WAS the Bears defense or lack thereof. How pitiful can a defense be?
Rakkav almost 15 years ago

@bmonk Thnaks!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Rmom, I am an ASE certified mechanic and it still pays for me to have an extended warranty if at all possible. The vehicle should be 10 years old or newer for this to be benificial though. The commercial with Mike Wallace of Nascar is a crock because they over inflate the repair prices, but extended warranties in most cases are well worth it. For me, the two policies I’ve had paid for themselves just in parts, not including labor. With what had been repaired during those cases, I could have bought 4 policies!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Rmom, as far as MPG, you should get roughly 18 -20 city and 22-24 highway or an average of about 20mpg. But probaly not at 210,000 milles.
As the engine becomes worn, the mpg will decrease. Nothing you can do about it.
Also nobody gives out extended warranties above 200,000 miles! LOL
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago

Terry, for the e or for not gloating? :-D
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Thanks for the info, Terry. I know when we first bought the van (probably over 100,000 at that point) it got about 18-20 mpg. We drive a lot of highway miles - usually about 20 miles of highway before we get into much city driving. We’re hoping the PT will do better than the van. My dad always said manual transmissions had better mpg than automatics, but that was clear back in the 70’s when he told me that.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Rmom, you should get about 20mpg highway with 138,000 miles. You had me mixed up with mileage on the two vehicles. LOL
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Dry - I saw your comment elsewhere about Tom Selleck. I agree - he’s still attractive! Our primary physician reminds me of Tom, so it is always a pleasure to see him! (Our doctor has a great personality, too.)

Dry, the e.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Dry, The Favre thing doesn’t bother me. As I’ve said in the past, he is one of my favs and I have him on two othe Fant FB teams of mine!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
It is cute getting you going though! :-)
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
I understand Rmom. You had me confused when you slid your “old van” into the conversation and mentioned 200k miles. I thought you were talking about the PT Cruiser. I have two customers that call theirs vans.
The vehicles are getting more and more elaborate and I am constantly going to classes for the “upgrades”!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Oh Terry, you didn’t get me going. :-) I just wasn’t sure which you meant, since I know how badly you wanted the Bears to win today! But alas! That was not to be!
You know, Brett is 40, that should give us all some hope! LOL!
And I know what I want for Christmas, probably won’t get it, because a fortune was spent on my last GENUINE #4 PACKER Jersey!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Dry, actually at 4-5 won loss record, it didn’t matter if the Bears won or not. I was more concerned with the Fantasy FB players I have and some are from both teams.
I’ve got a #4 Jersey also. They are pricey!

Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
(When the kids were still in car seats, I didn’t want to walk clear around to the passenger side.) We currently own 5 vehicles, although we’re shooting to have only 4.

Go you, Tabby! LOL
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
so my tribe family how have you all been? i have missed you all so much.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
LOL!
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
I’ve got to sign off for the night. I need to get up about 4am, to ride to work with my hubby, so I can pick up the PT where we left it. (Hard for 2 drivers to drive 3 vehicles at the same time.) So, I need to start getting ready for bed.
Cleo - Have fun with the jigsaw puzzle! I like them in moderation - not addicted to them, but I can enjoy them.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
We have not been the same without you Tabby. You keep us sane. Well, you keep all of us sane except for Dry. She has a bizarre fixation on an old quarterback. She keeps walking around singing “Come on Baby light my Fire.”
We keep answering back “Come On Baby Please retire.”

Cleo oh i have missed you all. she is a littlw bizarre. and i know here singing is not so good. you are sure some strong people. lol “come on baby light my fire” that has to be scary. poor y’all. love your reply to it, but do you realy think if he would retire she would stop singing?

Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Which by the way, no one holds that many passing yards!

Dry okay okay okay we get it. take a break. lol love you! (hug)

Dry,
That was passing yards for the game!

Peace and love my friends!

Dry, I was just saying about the most yards Brett has thrown for in a game. That’s what they were talking about, not an alltime record. It makes no difference who, but it’s one of the records he doesn’t own. :-)
