Carmy I heard about Florida’s cold. Two thirds of the country is 20 degrees below normal. I am fortunate. We are at our average temps here, but it’s been raining all year. :-)

Marg, I feel for you. A bike ride is hard for us to squeeze in between rain showers, but we have managed. Is something going on with your leg?

It is 26 here according to my computer, not accounting for the wind chill. I have a heavy sweater, long johns and long heavy knee socks on under my jeans. I sit in front of a glass door, and it gets COLD!!! And then of course the hallway has glass plate windows floor to ceiling! BRRR!

More than a little warmer–yesterday was actually not bad, since the wind had largely died out. Saturday was pretty frosty, but still nowhere near -35. Guess that’s why they call out here the “Tomato Belt” of West Dakota…

We have a dusting of snow today, supposed to get 1-3 inches, but not that much yet. Still, when the wind starts up again, it could get nasty with ground drifting and such fun.

Worse: with the weekend’s south winds, many of the dug-through drifts got partly or totally filled again. So lots more shoveling and snowblowing is going on today. And another winter storm is due Tuesday into Wednesday.

howdy Tribe glad i missed the dust up last night, and won’t comment other than to remind about the “play nice” rule, and hope we can all remain friends despite occasional disagreements. going for a quick tour, but will probably wind up falling “behind” again before too long and in need of catching up.

@yyyguy, I think the Tribe will recover and regain it’s peace. I’ve noticed a general fraying of tempers over the Holidays; maybe we can catch up now.

Mondays are for catching up. However, with the last two four-day weekends, I may take more than one day to recover.

I could really tell the strain yesterday about 10:00 a.m. And in the evening. And this morning. Ah, well, I have the day off, mostly.

Hi, cleo! We had been dry all year until today! The weatherman said all the moisture was pushing north! Lucky you!

JFri hello to you and Happy New Year. It has rained a bit everyday, but today it won’t let up. At least it’s mild. I still remember all my shoveling last year at this time, then suddenly it went from freezing to 50 degrees with pouring rain and flooding. The good thing is it would have to be a flood of Biblical proportions for our house to flood and I live on creek in our back yard and a lake in our front. (It helps to live on a hill). I did have to nail a board to the pilings on my dock to keep it from floating away though. So with all of last years issues at this time of year, I’ll take what we are receiving now. :-)

I hear you there, cleo! We had nearly 2’ of snow at Christmas last year. We had a pretty quick melt but not as much rain as you did. Nothing like we had February ‘96. That was a near biblcal flood for us!

Boy, is it quiet here or what? Tabby we grow 6 different kinds of blueberries in our yard. We don’t get enough to last us all year so we supplement them from a local grower and freeze them. We also grow raspberries and do get enough of them to last us through the winter.

Cleo it is quite here, kind of creepy. im not into raspberries. I just dont like them. idk why

well since its so quite here and im freezing im going take a long hot shower. Ana is still sleeping praise God. ill bbl sometime.

Cleo the only thing I don’t like about raspberries is the seeds get stuck in my teeth sometimes.! But they taste good! Tabby couldn’t eat them! Not with braces!

Dry yeah the seeds in raspberries can be a nuisance, but I eat them anyways. We grow two kinds, red and a salmon colored one, but it is a raspberry not a salmonberry. My wife prefers the red and I like the salmon colored ones best. I like to mix about five different cereals together, top it off with my homemade granola, raspberries, blueberries, and half a banana and just a small amount of milk.

SOOO i think that taking a bath was a very VERY bad idea. LOL i was in the tub for a while i fell asleep. :D lol you know its the first time i ever reacall falling asleep in the tub. funny and im 19. Ana is still sleeping maybe i should wake her up…hummmmm…. idk any ideas?

so if just going to campus and walking around makes me this tired what will i do next week? wow.

I have a very erratic schedule as to being awake long enough for being first at posting, but if by some quirk of fate I am first at the changeover, I will try to put blueberries on the menu. Less than a 33% chance that I will be first.

Cherries are good too. I like black cherries the best.

Shika - “Shotgun” comes from the wild west days when one person would be driving the horses hitched to the wagon, and the person sitting next to the driver would have the shotgun to ward off thieves, Indians, wild animals, etc. (Shotgun is a type of long gun.)

Do those varieties all taste different cleo?

My cousin here grows yellow raspberries. Very tasty. I prefer picking them wild at our cottage- when we had one. Wild blackberries and logan berries too, and once we found gooseberries. Much more fun when they are wild. But easier to pick cultivated.

Shika, our wild raspberries around here, grow abundantly but they have no taste whatsoever! I grow my own strawberries and they are good!

Shika the ones I prefer are kind of yellow when almost ripe and salmon colored when ripe. These raspberries have a taste the reminds me of a white wine. I think that they are more complex in flavor than the red, but like I said, my wife prefers the red, which I also like and have a somewhat floral flavor. I have been told by my wife that I am kind of a super taster. I am good with identifying and describing flavors (according to her). :-)

Dry do you want to paint trim or the walls?

Dry Our wild raspberries have intense raspberrie flavour. We used to pick enough to make jam every summer. Same with the blackberries.

Rmom I am told that a shotgun house is one where you can stand at the back of the house and shot right to the front door if the need arises. The house itself is very long and narrow, one room wide with doors down the middle.

I have pictures of them. Very colourfully painted.

Our neighbour at the cottage (that we no longer own) had two cottages joined by a glassed in breezeway. So did our neighbours two doors down. It is a neat concept.

Thanks, Shika! Now that you explain it, I think I have heard of that floor plan before. I’ll pass on the paint roller. I’ve had to do too much of that in real life for it to be fun for me. (My Dad had rental property, and built our houses, so I grew up painting walls. I also ended up doing all the painting in this house.)

The most fun I have was stripping wallpaper from someone else’s house. Fun, because I got to leave at the end of the day and not live with the mess.

Tomorrow at 3 is WalkingBuddy’s sugery to remove the other bload clot in her right leg. PLEASE PRAY FOR HER. i know she will be fine she is in God’s hands but i still want her to be prayed for. I am not ready for her to leave me yet. i told her i loved her kissed her cheak and told her to call me on the way home. she patted my head gave me a huge hug back and kissed my cheak. told me “dont worry. I love you. see you tomorrow” so shes fine. as for me im not to sure.

I’ll bbs going wash dishes get back in my pjs and then get in bed and charge computer and chat….. may not do dishes not that many do them tomorrow??? idk yet
