I’m glad to see you back as well, DocT. I know I don’t need to tell you but please give and extra hug to Wildcheetah for me. It will all take time but they are lucky to have your love and support.
Welcome back DOC T! You said I could eat anything in the tribal pantry. A wonderful woman has been cooking for me But I suppose I could renew my acquaintance with the kitchen. Lets see, pots, pans— are anchovy pancakes still made like in my college days?
Morning TRIBE! Welcome back DOC with your wit and wisdom.
It’s raining and cold here..figures, hubby and I are to go to the leasing office to renew our lease. I’d much rather stay in but it’s gotta be done.
The week certainly ended better than it started. My supervisor and I got together and laid out a game plan to help me get in the new groove. New priorities, etc, etc. I actually get to politely tell people we have no space i/o automatically sending a space request. When Joe off the street calls (someone who doesn’t identify themselves or their company) requesting the 1st available vessel to (fill in the blank) we give them the 1st available. It helped some, and having a couple of hours to plow through my email and action stuff to be actioned and get rid of the junk ( it was about 35% action, 65% ‘stuff’. I was then able to stay on top of my work, especially knowing I could log out for 5-10 minutes if there were 3+ people in the queue. Such a change from previous bosses. There is still the weekly review and the omnimous phrase “inprovement is expected” but other than that it’s better.
Gotta move on, trying to clean clean clean. Yeah, right…but I’m trying.
Pearlandpeach - Sorry, but we won’t do as you have ordered. The powers that be at GoComics have decided that what we are doing do not violate the terms of this site.
Doc - You are in my thoughts and prayers. As has been already stated, You are & have been truly missed, but we understand completely.
Doc how has your weather been? We have been seeing signs of spring a good couple of months early. I just hope we don’t get a bitter cold front in or a lot of trees and plants are going to suffer.
Good morning, tribe. Welcome back, Doc. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
The weather forecasters actually got one right and it’s snowing hard here. We have about 6” on the ground (I haven’t been out to measure, but am estimating by what I can and can’t see in the back flower bed). Could end up with as much as a foot. In an area where an attachment on a dump truck equals a snow plow, this is significant.
I expect no church tomorrow and not sure about work on Monday.
good morning Tribe and especially DocT
we seem to have got back to winter weather after a few days of “near spring” weather. it’s about 5F this morning - enough to get me to wear the jacket with the sleeves in it - and a bit windy as well. cold weather alerts have been in effect the last two days, but no snow. does Dry have a snow-a-pult to share her bounty with DocT?
hi Saucy & cleo as well. (wouldn’t want tyou to feel left out.)
a question just occurred to me. a spell of warm weather after the first frost is “Indian Summer” but is there a name for the phenomenon we’ve just experienced of spring like weather in the middle of winter? (i don’t think we can count the Chinooks they get in the Eastern Rockies as a term for the Eastern part of the continent, can we? besides, this weather isn’t really the same as that.)
Good Morning Everyone, except crabby patty!(((((Doc) missed you!
Saucy, I believe I’m South of you. I’m sorry about all the snow you’re getting. I guess it was too warm down here as we are getting the rain only, and that’s okay with me. :)
hi Dry & JFri also (i hate when i cross type and miss people/comments, but what can you do?) i’m lakeward of the snow belt here, myself. (south, i think - most of our snow comes off lake huron, the stuff generated by erie and ontario heads towards upstate new york for the most part.)
anyhow, time for the tour.
Good morning, and good to see you, Doc. We have missed you. The people who post here and have formed a Tribe are what drew me to this site. I wish I knew y’all in RL. If it is truly possible to feel heavy-hearted sympathy rolling off a computer screen, it would have been felt the past few days.
It’s 32 here and we’re dropping down to at least 16 tonight. We’re right on the edge of the snow/ice line running through SC. Should be interesting driving to church ibn the AM.
hi celecca & Carmy
@Carmy i stand to be corrected but, as i understand it, geocaching is a little bit like hide-and-seek for grownups. one uses a GPS device to find predtermined coordinates to gain access to either a small token of some sort or a record of others who have found the same site. another in a long list of excuses to go out for a ramble in the fresh air (in the same manner as golf, bird watching, or your car breaking down can provide an excuse to go walking). i’ve never tried it, but it seems to be growing in popularity.
Doc, I’m glad you all were able to feel that as it was certainly most sincere. Although the sympathy was not directed to me, I was still able to sense the sincerity and I was very moved.
Okay, the noon whistle has blown and dinner is now being served at the Big Top
Breaded Chicken Tenders
Tater Tots
Cheese dip with or without sesame seeds (Rotel type dip)
Ice cream
brownies
poached apples with a cinnamon flavored syrup sauce (okay, it’s not Gordon Ramsey but they taste sweetly hot)
Beverages are already available, but I tossed in some Diet Dr. Pepper for those of us who like to drink the nectar from heaven.
JFri, yes, that is what I was referring to. One of my dear friends was kind enough to ‘splain that to me already.
Doc, I keep forgetting to check on subscriber numbers. I’ll have to do that.
Quaby, thanks for the nice lunch!
hi Terry and bye DocT
thank you to Quaby for providing some lunch, but i had a late breakfast so i’ll just have one of the spiced apple thingies (they sound delicious!) hope things are okay with you.
hi also to JohnnydocJFri, thanks for the complement. i read a readers digest article on it once. it sounded like fun, but i’m a bit of a luddite where tech is concerned and have never actually tried it.
he worked there for a decade or so, but eventually needed a job that paid a lot better (the whole wife, family, mortgage, OMG my daughter’s a teenager now! thing) and moved on.
I went through all of the previous comments. Why do people need to voice their opinion when they are not friends of those people. That is very poor judgement on their part.
quick shout out at moms the internet is down and its cold out here where i am at so i am going inside and un freeze.
i was supposed to go see my unborn godchilds untlrasound today, but something came up and now i cant go. so im going watch aliens in the attick and warm up im so cold i cant type. love you guys. stay out of trouble. peace and love tribe
hi Shika & Tabby
finished the tour and the side trip, just finishing the puzzles. won’t be around much longer, but glad to have “seen” so many of the Tribe today.
Hi Dry I understand that when you dry your clothes in freezing weather, they dry anyways. You just bring them in after a few whacks to remove the stiffness, and they are dry.
That’s what I’ve been told anyways. Of course, who wants to freeze their fingers off hanging wet clothes? My friend must have fingers of steel or something.
well yyyguy Have a good day and evening, and “I’ll see ya’ when I see ya’! (I think its about time for me to watch “Stand By Me” again, for the upteenth time!. So glad I bought that DVD!)
Hello Shika. I am doubtful about a color that we are considering for 3 walls. It is nice, but might be to dark. We have one wall that is mostly all glass and that is one of the walls included where we might use it. We can’t make a mistake.
CLEOI agree a lighter colour is good with so much space. But too light might not frame the window as well. Of course, I live in a country that (in the country side at least,) tends to be white for six months of the years.
cleo I tend to like bright colours myself. I grew up with a hot pink bedroom. My kitchen is pink and white. The rest of the apartment is sage green, which is softer. My bathroom has been painted over so many times due to pipes bursting that it is now a flaky pink and blue. The blue is the tiles that were here when I arrived.
I rent, so I am not going to paint again anytime soon.
time for me to split as well. finished puzzles, toons and most of chats, so i think i’ll do until next time. going to play some poker at little brother’s tonight - just friends and just for fun - and i still have a few things that need doing beforehand. glad to have seen so many of you. (and, leaving behind some good karma for the Tribal bank, i take my leave)
YYYguy, see you later. Have fun tonight!
Shika, stay warm, girl!
Cleo, Now I know what color to wear at your next party. Don’t tell Dry and JFri, they might wear some lime green and try to ambush you and repaint your kitchen iridescent pink or something like that.
And, catching up from last night, I enjoyed the talk about venison, and the rest.
Reminded me of a recent club gathering–when they discussed what to serve, a local farmer suggested venison stew or chili. The others asked, “You have enough to spare?”
He responded, “Well, it’s still walking around eating my hay, but yes, I can spare all the meat you want.”
Also, alongside of chokecherry jelly or syrup, there’s also bullberry or buffaloberry jelly. It’s best to get the berries after the first frost when they are sweeter.
Cleo, Speaking of which, I meant to answer this last night, if you need painters, you know where to find TWO OF THE BEST EVER! And we’re looking for an extra job or two!
bmonk we have recently been using “full spectrum” lighting and while it is perfect for reading it is somewhat cold, so we also have some tungsten lights and interesting shades. We are contemplating light for the artwork.
Dry I already have abstracts, I do not need the walls to be abstract as well, but gee… thanks!
I faithfully help sponsor our local Special Olympics because I have so much admiration for those kids and adults. Their love knows no bounds, and their souls have not been touched by hate.
We are having either Indian food or felafels for dinner tonight. If you would prefer, I can trade naan or pita bread for another night’s dinner Dry. The same dough works for all 3 and I make plenty of dough.
Drambuie and ginger ale? Sorry buddy, but that sound absolutely horrible with a ribeye sandwich. A nice Cab Franc or Merlot would do it for me, or a beer. Drambuie, maybe after dinner, but I have never been a big fan. As long as you are enjoying it that is all that matters.
Dry–No, it’s just the way I eat a steak sandwich. I am such a fanatic of steak that I don’t want to cover the taste with toppings. Only grilled onions and tomatoes.
Cleo, I did not like drambuie at first when it was introduced to me. But after a while I discovered a taste for it. My friend who passed away was determined to get me to like it and he succeeded before he left this world.
And have you noticed Terry and Cleo, it seems these posts are out of sinc again. Therry, you answered me before my post appeared, at least on my screen!
There are not many liquors or liqueurs that I do not like but Drambuie, Irish Mist, Frangelico, Amaretto and Canadian Whiskey are the ones that I usually avoid.
Cleo, whatever you make is fine, but I know Indian is hot and spicy and that is what I love! But I’m a BIG fan of food, as long as there are no tree nuts involed. I don’t know if I can eat pine nuts or not, but it’s not worh taking a chance on it
johnnyd well have a good time and don’t do anything that I wouldn’t have done at your age (which pretty much means, have a good time multiplied by 2). In actuality I believe you are probably more sensible than I was.
Had to stir my sauce! I make my own sauce when time, but I have never attempted to make my spaghetti from scratch the way my Great Aunt did. God love her, that was a lot of work! I remember watching her do it on many a Saurday for Sunday’s meal!
johnny, don’t want to relive the last Sunday, in any way, shape or form, so I’ll just pass along this bit of info, McCray got fined for those hits on Brett. Just thought you’d be interested.
Cleo did you use a pasta machine? My Great Aunt did it all by hand, before there was pasta machines. (Oh DEAR, I just dated myself again, didn’t I? GOTTA STOP doing that, LOL!)
Dry yes I used a pasta machine. The most time consuming were making tortellini which I rolled out by machine, but then had to form by hand. They were so good though.
Cleo I bet. I make stuffed shells and stuffed manicotti when time permits, but as soon as you get one filled, the stinking thing tears apart! What do you stuff yours with? Do you ever make gnocchi?
Boo freakedy hoo, a quarterback got hit. That’s the NFL for you, the no fun league. I like teams with a stifling defense that will make you remember that you’re in the NFL! Hence, I like the Ravens.
Cleo, I was referring to alcohol being the cure. :-P
Cleo If you do, let me know how it turns out. She had a big dining room table which covered with a clean cloth, put the dough on the table, rolled it out, over and over, put flour on it, and rolled again, let it dry out, and then rolled the whole thing up and cut it to percision. ANd her sauce was DELICIOUS! And meatballs, and sauteed hot peppers and onions, and fried chicken, every Sunday. GOOD EATING, let me tell you!
Dry, my aunt who just recently passed away made homemade pasta the same way on the dining room table with the cloth and all. Us kids used to “swipe” pieces of the pasta while it was drying. LOL
Speaking of dating oneself Dry I think we talked about this once, but did I mention that back in the days of the test pattern on the television, our day started with “God Save the Queen?” The day ended with that too, I think. I actually remember watching the test pattern waiting for the cartoons to come on!
Shika The Test Pattern, oh yes! Ours was a circle, I think like a dart game chart, don’t remember for sure, but there was an Inidan wearing a headdress in the center. And yes, if I got up early enough, I would sit there and wait too!
Yep, circle with an Indian and patriotic song and finally it was all over and cartoons appeared. I can just see the Tribe, a bunch of little hellions waiting in anticipation. In my neck of the woods the test pattern would be replaced with patriotic fighter planes, the raising of the flag, etc.
The Tribe is probably doing the same thing now. A bunch of hellions sitting in front of the TV watching a show and waiting for the turnover when gocomics presents the new day of cartoons. Nothing has changed you realize that don’t you?
I remember test patterns, then channel 4 would show a pilot in a jet going up and up, while the voiceover recited that poem about flying and end ‘And I reach out and touch the face of God’
It’s 31F and falling, When I came out of the Dragon my windshield had ice on it! And my jacket was at home. Man was it a cold ride home! But we had fun, I played Scrabble and a game new to me, Pandemic. It was mucho fun. It is different from role-playing type games because it required cooperation. There is no single winner in Pandemic, either the infections are cured or you screw up and the world dies of various diseases. And it doesn’t go on forever. It’s like that Las Vegas Solitaire, when you turn the last card of the deck, if it’s not a winning move the virus wins.
I’m gonna have to head for the back. We have an anthem tomorrow morning, and the temp is supposed to be mid 20’s so I imagine I’ll have plenty of ice once again.
Where I live, we get the Blue Angels for real. Sounds like they’re about to crash into our house at times too. They often put on a show at the beach, it’s a Land and Sea show. Planes, boats and those boats that go on land and sea. I forgot the name of them.
Cleo I don’t watch TV either. Just movies like you do.
Hi Terry and LuvH8! You know “troupe” would be more apt, but we’ve been the Tribe for over a year and we like it.
When we lived in Texas, our street was in the plane’s names section. We lived on Blue Angel and the other streets were Cessna, Piper, Corvair and Spitfire.
Yes we’ve been the Tribe for over a year now, some of us have been together longer than others, some who came later on. NEVER LIKED the word troupe, sounds like a group of clowns, and I never liked clowns!
Terry, actually Nanny always wears a sling to cover up her tattoo, her arm isn’t broken.
Dry, I always amazed that so many people dislike clowns. I think Gacy had a lot to do with that.
Carmy, I seem to recall the dislike for clowns going way back. I believe it has to do with the fact that even with a smile painted on, the person can have a deranged look on their face.
Aw, you all are so sweet! Wait till you see my Valentine avatar. I think it’s sweet, but my oldest daughter said it was “emo.” I’m putting it up on Monday.

hi also to Johnnydoc JFri, thanks for the complement. i read a readers digest article on it once. it sounded like fun, but i’m a bit of a luddite where tech is concerned and have never actually tried it.

Must you have a GPS to go geo-caching?

Dry i believe so, but JFri would be better able to answer. saw and replied to your comment at OB.

My friend must have fingers of steel or something.

cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello Shika. I am doubtful about a color that we are considering for 3 walls. It is nice, but might be to dark. We have one wall that is mostly all glass and that is one of the walls included where we might use it. We can’t make a mistake.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
cleo You wait for me to leave the room. Good thing I am Shika!
carmy almost 15 years ago

Still trying to beat this junk in my chest, Shika.
How about you?
I’m in and out here if I don’t answer right away. :^)
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
CLEOI agree a lighter colour is good with so much space. But too light might not frame the window as well. Of course, I live in a country that (in the country side at least,) tends to be white for six months of the years.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Okay, I corrected that post three times. I’m not touching the last typo.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I’m fine Terry Just getting ready to fly soon myself. In a figurative sense. There is a lot of flu going arund here. I seem to have missed it so far.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hi Carmy! I just saw you. How are you today?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
We like bright colors, for instance our kitchen is sonic lime and tart margarita, which converts to a bright green and a vivid yellow.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
We want to be a bit more subdued in the living room because our artwork is full of bright colors.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Shika, I am doing okay, thank you. Glad you saw me.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo, your kitchen should be bright so bright green and vivid yellow is perfect! Do you ever need to flip the light switch “on”?
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
cleo I tend to like bright colours myself.
I am wearing lime green today though.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I am having yogourt with cranberries, walnuts, sunflower seeds and homemade apple sauce for lunch. Yummy.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
lol carmy The colours are bright enough to light the room up. I like that.
My first place had a kitchen with yellow cupboards and wallpaper with Italian scenes all over. I loved it. The owner of the house was Italian.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
time for me to split as well. finished puzzles, toons and most of chats, so i think i’ll do until next time. going to play some poker at little brother’s tonight - just friends and just for fun - and i still have a few things that need doing beforehand. glad to have seen so many of you. (and, leaving behind some good karma for the Tribal bank, i take my leave)
(((((Tribe)))))i think we can use a little extra, n’est-ce pas?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Take care yyyguy.
So Shika if you were at my house right now and in the kitchen leaning against the wall we would only see your hands and face. LOL
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago

YYYguy, see you later. Have fun tonight! Shika, stay warm, girl! Cleo, Now I know what color to wear at your next party. Don’t tell Dry and JFri, they might wear some lime green and try to ambush you and repaint your kitchen iridescent pink or something like that.
bmonk almost 15 years ago
@**Good Morn-…Afternoon, ((Tribe))!
Let’s see–painting kitchens? How about some Electric Blue and a nice bright Violet to go with the Iridescent pink?
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago

Hello Bmonk!
bmonk almost 15 years ago
And, catching up from last night, I enjoyed the talk about venison, and the rest.
Reminded me of a recent club gathering–when they discussed what to serve, a local farmer suggested venison stew or chili. The others asked, “You have enough to spare?”
He responded, “Well, it’s still walking around eating my hay, but yes, I can spare all the meat you want.”
Also, alongside of chokecherry jelly or syrup, there’s also bullberry or buffaloberry jelly. It’s best to get the berries after the first frost when they are sweeter.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
bmonk thank goodness you posted while I was eating rather than before, otherwise I may have eaten even more. LOL
carmy & bmonk don’t be giving JFi & Dry any bright ideas.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Two of the living room paint colors we are considering are habanero red and baguette. Just to keep the food theme going throughout the house. LOL
bmonk almost 15 years ago
@cleo, does a “bright” idea include blacklight lighting?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo, Speaking of which, I meant to answer this last night, if you need painters, you know where to find TWO OF THE BEST EVER! And we’re looking for an extra job or two!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
bmonk we have recently been using “full spectrum” lighting and while it is perfect for reading it is somewhat cold, so we also have some tungsten lights and interesting shades. We are contemplating light for the artwork.
Dry I already have abstracts, I do not need the walls to be abstract as well, but gee… thanks!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
hi bmonk, BTW!! :-D
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo, you are supposed to help your fellow man/woman and we need the work!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago

cleokaya almost 15 years ago

cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Sorry Dry you can still help drain the bottle of Booker’s each evening. Both you and JFri have the necessary skills to handle that particular task.
Doc, It sounds like Wildcheetah’s family have been dealt some tough cards and are handling them remarkably well.

cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello Terry & Dry. I have been making Italian semolina baguettes. Want to trade some homemade spaghetti sauce for a couple of baguettes?
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
I’m in the middle of a ribeye steak sandwich with grilled onions and tomatoe, a side of mushrooms and topped off with some drambuie & ginger ale!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Hello Dry!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
We are having either Indian food or felafels for dinner tonight. If you would prefer, I can trade naan or pita bread for another night’s dinner Dry. The same dough works for all 3 and I make plenty of dough.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
What no peppers in your sandwich, green, hot or otherwise and no cheese? Is that the Chicago version of a Philadelphia Steak Snadwich?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Drambuie and ginger ale? Sorry buddy, but that sound absolutely horrible with a ribeye sandwich. A nice Cab Franc or Merlot would do it for me, or a beer. Drambuie, maybe after dinner, but I have never been a big fan. As long as you are enjoying it that is all that matters.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Dry–No, it’s just the way I eat a steak sandwich. I am such a fanatic of steak that I don’t want to cover the taste with toppings. Only grilled onions and tomatoes.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Phillly Steak has peppers on them here. Not hot but green peppers.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Cleo, I did not like drambuie at first when it was introduced to me. But after a while I discovered a taste for it. My friend who passed away was determined to get me to like it and he succeeded before he left this world.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I do not like anything on my steak either accept for possibly grilled onions or sauteed mushrooms.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
What is Drambuie?
And have you noticed Terry and Cleo, it seems these posts are out of sinc again. Therry, you answered me before my post appeared, at least on my screen!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
There are not many liquors or liqueurs that I do not like but Drambuie, Irish Mist, Frangelico, Amaretto and Canadian Whiskey are the ones that I usually avoid.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo, whatever you make is fine, but I know Indian is hot and spicy and that is what I love! But I’m a BIG fan of food, as long as there are no tree nuts involed. I don’t know if I can eat pine nuts or not, but it’s not worh taking a chance on it
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Drambuie is a honey and scotch liqueur.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Dry–drambuie is a scotch whisky liqueur, kind of on the sweet side depnding how you mix it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Cleo–I just love sauteed mushrooms! On anything! LOL
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Whoops, I didn’t see your explanation Cleo.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Good evening! Just got outta work. I trust everyone is having an enjoyable Saturday.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Howdy johnnyd. So what are your plans for your Saturday night?
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Hello Johnny–I’ve had that “crud” that you had earlier. I think anyhow.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
What crud, Terry? Cleo, I am heading out in an hour or so.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
johnnyd well have a good time and don’t do anything that I wouldn’t have done at your age (which pretty much means, have a good time multiplied by 2). In actuality I believe you are probably more sensible than I was.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Had to stir my sauce! I make my own sauce when time, but I have never attempted to make my spaghetti from scratch the way my Great Aunt did. God love her, that was a lot of work! I remember watching her do it on many a Saurday for Sunday’s meal!
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
I am pretty sensible most of the time, but I think they have a cure for that.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Johnny didn’t you have a cold recently? That’s what I was talking about.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
I know Johnny’s more sensible than I was at that age, Cleo. LOL
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo, on the sensible comment … . NO COMMENT! ROFLMAO!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
johnnyd they do have a cure for it and it involves hanging out with me… unfortunately for you.
Dry I used to make my own pasta all of the time, got away from it and was going to get back into doing it, but at present… haven’t.
serenasakitty almost 15 years ago
What’s going on here? I go to sleep for a few hours and everyone is painting their houses and making lots of good food??? LOL
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello serena my dear, how has your day fared, lady fair?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
johnny, don’t want to relive the last Sunday, in any way, shape or form, so I’ll just pass along this bit of info, McCray got fined for those hits on Brett. Just thought you’d be interested.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Hello Serena!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
There’s no football being played today. Next week is football! LOL
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo did you use a pasta machine? My Great Aunt did it all by hand, before there was pasta machines. (Oh DEAR, I just dated myself again, didn’t I? GOTTA STOP doing that, LOL!)
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hi Serena
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
The league also said it should have been a penalty.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Too little, too late! May have made a difference. Oh well, I’m done discussing that part of my life, been there, done that many times over the years!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
So how’s the vedder out there?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Dry yes I used a pasta machine. The most time consuming were making tortellini which I rolled out by machine, but then had to form by hand. They were so good though.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo I bet. I make stuffed shells and stuffed manicotti when time permits, but as soon as you get one filled, the stinking thing tears apart! What do you stuff yours with? Do you ever make gnocchi?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Serena can you smell my sauce cooking? It smells heavenly! (If I do say so myself!)
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Boo freakedy hoo, a quarterback got hit. That’s the NFL for you, the no fun league. I like teams with a stifling defense that will make you remember that you’re in the NFL! Hence, I like the Ravens. Cleo, I was referring to alcohol being the cure. :-P
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Terry, believe it or not, my immune system has been doing its job for a change. Hope yours gets going again too.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
johnnyd alcohol figured into my response as well. LOL
Dry we make gnocchi all of the time. After your post about your great aunt making pasta by hand, I think that I am going to give it a try.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Time to head out. Peace and love all!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Johnny, I am hoping too. Thanks.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo If you do, let me know how it turns out. She had a big dining room table which covered with a clean cloth, put the dough on the table, rolled it out, over and over, put flour on it, and rolled again, let it dry out, and then rolled the whole thing up and cut it to percision. ANd her sauce was DELICIOUS! And meatballs, and sauteed hot peppers and onions, and fried chicken, every Sunday. GOOD EATING, let me tell you!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Dry, back when I was wee high to a grasshopper, anytime my Italian friend’s mother was cooking, it always smelled good. I’m sure yours does also! :^)
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Johnny “Boo, freakedy hoo”, you sound like Quagmire on Family Guy! Quick, get that image out of my head! PLEASE!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Johnny I hope you’re not dancing around in your birthday suit! Now we’ll have two guys to watch out for! LOL!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Dry, my aunt who just recently passed away made homemade pasta the same way on the dining room table with the cloth and all. Us kids used to “swipe” pieces of the pasta while it was drying. LOL
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Terry oh it does indeed! I’m getting hungry!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
We didn’t have to swipe it! If we begged long enough, she gave us some! :-)
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Same here Dry. Your giving me happy, happy memories. :^)
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Well it is Indian tonight with moong dal, basmati rice and naan. Pasta will be a night down the road.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I will be disappearing soon to make the naan.
Speaking of dating oneself Dry I think we talked about this once, but did I mention that back in the days of the test pattern on the television, our day started with “God Save the Queen?” The day ended with that too, I think. I actually remember watching the test pattern waiting for the cartoons to come on!
I need to get a life. lol
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
See you all later, or tomorrow, whichever works out.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Shika The Test Pattern, oh yes! Ours was a circle, I think like a dart game chart, don’t remember for sure, but there was an Inidan wearing a headdress in the center. And yes, if I got up early enough, I would sit there and wait too!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
I’m thinking ours started off with America The Beautiful, but don’t remember exactly.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Yep, circle with an Indian and patriotic song and finally it was all over and cartoons appeared. I can just see the Tribe, a bunch of little hellions waiting in anticipation. In my neck of the woods the test pattern would be replaced with patriotic fighter planes, the raising of the flag, etc.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
The Tribe is probably doing the same thing now. A bunch of hellions sitting in front of the TV watching a show and waiting for the turnover when gocomics presents the new day of cartoons. Nothing has changed you realize that don’t you?
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
We had military planes flying in formation across the screen when the song was playing.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Yep, us to Terry, like the blue angels or the Thunderbirds.
I am off to watch a movie.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Quabaculta almost 15 years ago
I remember test patterns, then channel 4 would show a pilot in a jet going up and up, while the voiceover recited that poem about flying and end ‘And I reach out and touch the face of God’
It’s 31F and falling, When I came out of the Dragon my windshield had ice on it! And my jacket was at home. Man was it a cold ride home! But we had fun, I played Scrabble and a game new to me, Pandemic. It was mucho fun. It is different from role-playing type games because it required cooperation. There is no single winner in Pandemic, either the infections are cured or you screw up and the world dies of various diseases. And it doesn’t go on forever. It’s like that Las Vegas Solitaire, when you turn the last card of the deck, if it’s not a winning move the virus wins.
I’m gonna have to head for the back. We have an anthem tomorrow morning, and the temp is supposed to be mid 20’s so I imagine I’ll have plenty of ice once again.
Peace and Love, Tribe and Lurkers
Movie break, my wife is on the phone with a friend. This is where I get my TV, we are watching episode one of Damages.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Hello Quaby, glad you had fun tonight! G’night!
carmy almost 15 years ago
Where I live, we get the Blue Angels for real. Sounds like they’re about to crash into our house at times too. They often put on a show at the beach, it’s a Land and Sea show. Planes, boats and those boats that go on land and sea. I forgot the name of them.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Why tribe? Why not troupe?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Carmy every year at Sea Fair we get the Blue Angels that perform before the Hydroplane races.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
My wife is still on the phone, I take it the rest of you are all glued to the tube. :-)
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Hello Carmy & LuvH8
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
LuvH8, it’s been the Tribe for a long time.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Cleo, I’m here in and out watching TV with Wolfangil.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo I don’t watch TV either. Just movies like you do. Hi Terry and LuvH8! You know “troupe” would be more apt, but we’ve been the Tribe for over a year and we like it.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hi Terry still waiting for Lil’G on the phone.
carmy almost 15 years ago
When we lived in Texas, our street was in the plane’s names section. We lived on Blue Angel and the other streets were Cessna, Piper, Corvair and Spitfire.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
The only reason I have TV is for sports & the rest of the family’s use. I could watch dvd’s all the time at my own pace.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo, I have a feeling you’ll be waiting for some time. Do you all go to the Sea Fair?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
hey Carmy How are you fairing my sweet young lady?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Carmy no, we do not like crowds. Movie time again. love you all.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo, I had a really nice 4 1/2 hour nap. I’ve been hanging out with my girlies. We just made a store run for some ice cream.
carmy almost 15 years ago
I don’t like crowds either. See you later, Cleo.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Terry, that is Nanny-Poo from Count Duckula. She has a perpetual broken arm.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Yes we’ve been the Tribe for over a year now, some of us have been together longer than others, some who came later on. NEVER LIKED the word troupe, sounds like a group of clowns, and I never liked clowns!
Terry, actually Nanny always wears a sling to cover up her tattoo, her arm isn’t broken. Dry, I always amazed that so many people dislike clowns. I think Gacy had a lot to do with that.
I think we have been insulted, “troupe” according to Webster’s is defined as a “group of performers on a stage”.
Carmy, I seem to recall the dislike for clowns going way back. I believe it has to do with the fact that even with a smile painted on, the person can have a deranged look on their face.
