as for the drinks, any thing you want. as the song goes “any way you want it thats the way you need it any way you want it” well have at it!
good early morning Tribe and a happy Valentine’s day, especially to the ladies. (should i try to type them all by name? no, i might forget one and wouldn’t want to insult any of them.) [stop talking to yourself!] a quick aside to Dry who seemed to be skeptical about my interest in women’s hockey. i come by it honestly, having refereed the game itself for over 30 years and female hockey for most of that time. it’s only now that i’ve been out of the game for a half dozen years that the young women i refereed when they were starting the game are beginning to be replaced on Canada’s national team. Cherie Piper (#7) is still there, but most of the others i used to see at the big local tournament every year have moved on.
oh what the heck, it’s only 3:35 am!
Happy Valentine’s to Dry, Tabby, Dawn, celecca, Quaby, Marg, Carmy, LuvH8, Rmom, Shika, serena, and Saucy. I think that’s all of the ones i know are of the female persuasion and please don’t be insulted if i didn’t put down your name.
last post before bedtime! [yay!] (quiet, i’m typing)
sorry to have missed the snowball fight last night. and for those who like Britcoms that aren’t anything to do with Monty Python or it’s membership, you might try one called “My Hero” about an alien who comes to earth and gains super powers which he uses for good, but he’s an actual alien that only looks human but still acts alien - kind of the ‘fish out of water’ thing and very funny IMHO. anyhow, enough of me talking to myself - it’s time to go horizontal! oh, and LuvH8? you might also try “why not?” as an alternative to my screen name. (or you could just call me guy.)
TABBY, Everything one Earth? I’ll take two of each. As for food in bed, well it is Valentines Day. I might think of a few, and who cares about the mess, Tide is on sale this week.
Happy Sunday TRIBE! Have to go separate the lobster from the roses. Hid em behind the detergent so they wouldn’t get found.
Sincee I am not otherwise attached to any girl right now, I can focus on some homework that really needs to get done. Plus, the Daytona 500 is on, and I will admit that is a guilty pleasure of mine.
Just in case anyone missed it yesterday, my family is getting a refund from the feds and state on the taxes. $250 is going to us in ‘fun funds’ and celebrating our 33rd wedding Anniversary. The rest goes to car insurance and emergency fund.
My son is coming over tomorrow and we’re moving the chifarobe into the library temporarily. I am getting a new set of shelves to build in my room, move the bead making stuff over to it, then move the current shelf into the library.
So off I go on my toon tour. By this time next month I should have my desk in my room and be able to chat a bit more. Until then, bbl.
Today my avatar is a picture of Monkeys 1 & 2. In this picture they are dressed in plastic bags because my response to them getting muddy while visiting others was to hose them down and dress them in trash bags.
LuvH8 that is a cute story. You are lucky to have two wonderful children. But you know it is a parent’s duty to embarass the heck out of their children?
Cleo may I also share some of your chocolate? I agree with Saucy, Dry and Tabby
Quaby I wish I could get rid of some of my stuff. I’ve got stuff I haven’t even looked at for months or years, but I can’t bear to get rid it. There should be a telethon for packrats.
Serena look at it directly. We’re borderline hoarders. I make myself watch Hoarders to remember it’s there but for the grace of God go I. It’s one thing to hang on to broken necklaces that can be recycled into new items, quite another to hang onto instruction manuals for appliances you no longer have, empty boxes, broken stuff that can’t be repaired, etc.
Ask yourself, even if you could have a telethon or auction…would you part with the stuff??
Enough heavy stuff, I get depressed enough with routine stuff.
I am bummed out, though I was hoping to get started on my new banner, but the lady who sells the delicas didn’t come in ‘cause she isn’t feeling well. I don’t want to give her hubby nervous heebie jeebies trying to get the beads for me. And no, I won’t go elsewhere. I give my delica business to the Green Dragon.
Oh, and if you don’t know what a delica is (though I suspect celecca is familiar with them) it is a hole that thinks it is a seed bead.
Special thanks to bmonk & cleo - My hubby liked his card so much, it brought tears to his eyes. He did tell me I left one thing off of my list, that cleo will appreciate. He said I forgot to add that he puts on clothes every day, even though he’d rather not.
Dry no, we did not give anything to each other. My wife told me that since I buy flowers for her all the time and treat her to dinners out on a regular basis that we should just stay home and spare dining in a busy restaurant and spending lots of money on flowers that skyrocket in price for this day. We are having her family over and will be in a group effort, making Chinese dumplings for an appetizer and then a Chinese dinner. I have a good bottle of Champagne to celebrate the day plus my wife’s sister in law just completed her disertation for her Master’s degree and also got tenure at the College where she works, so she is in seventh heaven.
Cleo - I have to admit, I really like it when my hubby is dressed up. But I’m sure our sons appreciate him putting on clothes on his days off even more than I do.
Dry I figured it was no biggie….but the occasional ‘no biggie’ can explode into controversy quickly. And I didn’t want to confuse anyone else. Lord knows I get confused easy enough.
I’m cleaning the kitchen 5 minutes at a time so I don’t wear myself out. Two counters down and the big one to go, stove, sink and floor then I’m done. Doctor Who comes on at 8pm, the repeat of The End of Time. I wanna see it again, I’m even missing the new episode of Ax Men for it.
Just about Dry, but no, this is a neighbor that moved into a rental several doors down. We live on a dead end road that ends up at a Christian Bible Camp, so a lot of the people on the road know one another. I thought of the Tribe when this fellow said “I am thinking of inviting the neighbors for a BBQ. I’m just going to tell everyone to leave religion and politics at home.
Dumplings were delicious, pork and chicken. 3 sauces, of which black bean and garlic was the best. Our guest of honor taught in China for several months and so we all had to participate in the making of the dumplings as is traditional. Next communal gathering we will make tamales. Yum.
JFri howdy and how was your weather? We had a mixture of rain and sunshine and very warm weather. Cache is probably dreaming of tearing about in the sand.
I loved my Spanish classes in H.S., took 3 years of it. I should have continued with them later on! I still know some of it, very little, but I can STILL COUNT TO TEN! LOL!
No comments from JFri or Cleo! Please!
Dry, I can count to over a hundred in Spanish. I find it funny that a thousand in Spanish es un mil. I would think a “mil” would be a million, but it’s not.
I can speak minimal Spanish, but it improves temporarily when I am in Mexico. My wife is pretty good and her daughter is fluent, she also lived in Spain for 6 months, living with a Spanish family and going to school.
Hi, cleo, Dry & Carmy! We had serious high tides and sneaker waves bigger than I have ever seen. We had mostly rain with a few dry spells but only about an hour of sunshine. Thank goodness for Gortex! Got home and was unpacking when all of sudden a big old frog hopped out. I took him down to our wetland area to let him go but he is different from ones I usually see. It was a greenish brown with red accents on its legs.
JFri you probably are going to be responsible for a mutation in the frog species, maybe creating… Digital Frog.
The best tamales I have ever had were in Bara De Navidad. A woman would open her stand everyday at 6 PM and she would have fresh corn tamales. It was like eating candy, the corn was so sweet.
celecca as you can tell I like talking about food as well as making it and especially eating it.
Dry, my Mom makes tamales by herself now, but she does not make them very often. She gets the masa from a place that sells it already prepared. She just has to get the corn husks and prepare the filling. She uses pork or beef or chicken. She has a meat grinder that she uses to mince the meat up fine.
Carmy Yes, I guess that was a compliment, because there was a lot left! I try to make enough for another lunchtime meal or a full meal! My kids always tell me, “Good dinner, Mom!” but sometimes I think they are being polite!
Carmy, it is a fishing village due west of Guadalajara. It is where they go for Christmas. The town, when I was there about 6 years ago only had one resort and it was a resort for the very wealthy. It was across a lagoon from the town and the only way to get there was by a little passenger ferry or by your luxury yacht. If you wanted to take the 5 or 10 minute ferry it cost you 50 dollars just to enter the property. We stayed in town, on the beach in a funky little Mexican appt. and I have never eaten better seafood or Mexican food for so little money. The most I payed was $3.20 for a large bowl of posole. I had a whole snapper vera cruz for just over $2. We used to go to the fishing boats and buy our own, but when restaurants are so cheap, what’s the point.
Hey, hard to believe I’m still here, but still working in the kitchen. Chatted online with my ex- daughter in law. Still watching Dr. Who.
celecca I also think they got the term delica because of how fragile the beads can be. The Green Dragon has every color of delica available. I hope she’s feeling better tomorrow so I can get the delicas I need.
I’ve been poking around Fire Mountain Beads as well, making a wish list. That can be fun…now all I need to do is sell some jewelry and start moving it to my cart.
Cleo I almost ended up lost in a city in Mexico when the train I was on started to uncouple and hook up with another train. I was on my way with my mom and aunt to visit my cousin in Mexivo City. It was my graduation present. I’m pretty sure it was Guadalajara. I was 17 then, so a lot of years have passed, but I often wonder what would have happened if I hadn’t got back to our car in time!
I love traveling by train. It is my favorite way to see the country. I have taken the train from Vancouver to Winnipeg through the Rockies, we took the train from ND to Alberta quite often, took the train from our town in WA to CA and got to go along the Puget Sound to Seattle on that trip, traveled through Italy by train from Milan to Arezzo, Italy and most recently from Cortona, Italy to Paris, France. I remember the thrill of actually passing Dijon, France and Parma and Bologna, Italy. Of course my mind strayed to food.
Cleo I envy you those trips! I would like to take a train across Canada from one end to the other, and also the US. That trip to Mexico was a life experience and I have my mom to thank for that!
We had an International lunch at church today. Lots of West Indian foods, some Chinese and East Indain food too. And great desserts. I was given a take home container for tomorrow’s lunch. There was smoked salmon that was delicious too.
Yes Carmy I didn’t run fast enough though. lol The Jerk chicken and curry goat were gone- I love those. But I got a good selection of food, which just thinking about makes me hungry for more…
Hey Shika. I have been across Canada twice, once by train and bus and the last time by car. It is a beautiful country, but unfortunately not enough roads go east and west.
Carmy, I disappeared to cut up chicken for Kung Pao Chicken as we are celebrating all things Chinese. I have to go to dinner so I give you all a Valentine’s kiss and say have a lovely night. I will try to be back, depends on how the evening goes with guests.
Oh, another favorite train ride from Cochran, Ontario up to Moosonee on St. James Bay, where the Hudson Bay Company got their start and it is of course on Hudson Bay.

JFri howdy and how was your weather? We had a mixture of rain and sunshine and very warm weather. Cache is probably dreaming of tearing about in the sand.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hi JFri! I hope Cache has a nice snooze.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hi Carmy, JFri and again Cleo!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy my one and only soap, just made tamales, one of the women stars made them for her BF. . They are wrapped in corn husks, correct?
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hola Dry!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hola Carmy!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello Carmy. Corn husks is correct Dry.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I loved my Spanish classes in H.S., took 3 years of it. I should have continued with them later on! I still know some of it, very little, but I can STILL COUNT TO TEN! LOL! No comments from JFri or Cleo! Please!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo have you made them?
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, yes, they are wrapped in corn husks and steamed.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I like your avatar Dry. Until I clicked on it, I thought wiley had his head in a stock.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, I can count to over a hundred in Spanish. I find it funny that a thousand in Spanish es un mil. I would think a “mil” would be a million, but it’s not.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy you should be able to!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo LOL! No Wile E is deep in thought and comtemplating his next move. ;-D
cleokaya almost 15 years ago

It was a greenish brown with red accents on its legs.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, I should be able to speak it fluently too and I can’t. I can understand a lot more than I can actually speak.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I think I would like a good recipe for tamales, of course, I would have to wait until the corn is ready here, which will be about 6 to 7 months!
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
Good evening, all!
Quaby - that is a perfect description of of a delica!
I am craving Chinese food and tamales. Wonder why?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I guess my noon meal was better than I thought! I just went for leftovers and it’s all gone!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
JFri you probably are going to be responsible for a mutation in the frog species, maybe creating… Digital Frog.
The best tamales I have ever had were in Bara De Navidad. A woman would open her stand everyday at 6 PM and she would have fresh corn tamales. It was like eating candy, the corn was so sweet.
celecca as you can tell I like talking about food as well as making it and especially eating it.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, no leftovers is a great compliment for the chef. celecca, I’m craving tamales too. Cleo, where is Bara De Navidad?
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, my Mom makes tamales by herself now, but she does not make them very often. She gets the masa from a place that sells it already prepared. She just has to get the corn husks and prepare the filling. She uses pork or beef or chicken. She has a meat grinder that she uses to mince the meat up fine.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy Tamales are made mostly for special occasions? And they are a lot of work, no?
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
back
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy Yes, I guess that was a compliment, because there was a lot left! I try to make enough for another lunchtime meal or a full meal! My kids always tell me, “Good dinner, Mom!” but sometimes I think they are being polite!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
We used to go to the fishing boats and buy our own, but when restaurants are so cheap, what’s the point.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, yes, they are usually made for special occasions it is a lot of work. Hi Tabby! Cleo, sounds like a very nice place. My FIL was from Veracruz.
Quabaculta almost 15 years ago
Hey, hard to believe I’m still here, but still working in the kitchen. Chatted online with my ex- daughter in law. Still watching Dr. Who.
celecca I also think they got the term delica because of how fragile the beads can be. The Green Dragon has every color of delica available. I hope she’s feeling better tomorrow so I can get the delicas I need.
I’ve been poking around Fire Mountain Beads as well, making a wish list. That can be fun…now all I need to do is sell some jewelry and start moving it to my cart.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo I almost ended up lost in a city in Mexico when the train I was on started to uncouple and hook up with another train. I was on my way with my mom and aunt to visit my cousin in Mexivo City. It was my graduation present. I’m pretty sure it was Guadalajara. I was 17 then, so a lot of years have passed, but I often wonder what would have happened if I hadn’t got back to our car in time!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo, Yea that was it! I just googled it, we passed by Mazatlan on the way, then Guadalajara, then on to Mexico City. That was a GREAT railroad trip!
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
so i took spanish and learned nada. then ana came along and that forced us all to learn a little
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I love traveling by train. It is my favorite way to see the country. I have taken the train from Vancouver to Winnipeg through the Rockies, we took the train from ND to Alberta quite often, took the train from our town in WA to CA and got to go along the Puget Sound to Seattle on that trip, traveled through Italy by train from Milan to Arezzo, Italy and most recently from Cortona, Italy to Paris, France. I remember the thrill of actually passing Dijon, France and Parma and Bologna, Italy. Of course my mind strayed to food.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Tabby it is neat when you are put in the position of needing to learn something, because it makes you focus more.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo I envy you those trips! I would like to take a train across Canada from one end to the other, and also the US. That trip to Mexico was a life experience and I have my mom to thank for that!
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Cleo lol yea we all quit learning. she knows some but i dont remember hardly anything
carmy almost 15 years ago
The only train I have been on was the Metro in Chicagoland. Oh, the little trains at the zoo and Six Flags also. hee hee!

We had an International lunch at church today. Lots of West Indian foods, some Chinese and East Indain food too. And great desserts. I was given a take home container for tomorrow’s lunch. There was smoked salmon that was delicious too.

carmy almost 15 years ago
Shika, you reminded me that I forgot to mention the EL in Chicago. Did you know you can take the train right into Ohare from downtown?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hey Shika. I have been across Canada twice, once by train and bus and the last time by car. It is a beautiful country, but unfortunately not enough roads go east and west.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Shika, what is Jerk Chicken? Is it Asian?
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
No Carmy I didn’t know that. I have only stopped in the Ohare airport long enough to grab a coffee and get on my connecting flight.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
that works for me, Shika
