I saw your post last night. Thanks. I have both movies and Rio Grande. I couldn’t remember James Caan being in Rio Lobo though. Here’s why.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066301/
Rio Grande also starred Wayne & O’Harra.
One last thought for yyyguy on McLintock. Though John Wayne may be in familiar surroundings in that movie, he was playing in an unacustomed comedy role which I still thought showed some versatility on his part. Much like Cagney & Davis in “The Bride cam C.O.D.” McLintock, in my view is a classic in spite of not having the supporting cast he had in “The Quiet Man.”
I never know what y’all will have yapped about overnight. It’s usually like a present to look back on the conversation. Things to remember, things to look up. Thanks!
Doc T
I have been trying to cut back on your coffee! (Down to 3 pots per day) When I did the jokes I wasn’t paying much attention, I bliiped where necessary.
Lonewolf
As am I. I am trying to replace old favorites first, or which-ever VHS is in need of replacing. I recently replaced High Noon and will soon replace the Invisible Man.
Welcome Krewd any friend of Doc’s is a good addition.
Carmy, it was beautiful yesterday. This morning is warm with a steady downpour. This weather can’t be good for ski conditions at Whistler and Cyprus Mountain. The Olympic officials must be on stress mode.
From yesterday comments.
Rmom the big crash scene was not only on the local news but the national news I also live in Wichita. It was in KCK on I170(I70?) due to snow. Major traffic pile up. I don’t remember how many hurt. This happened over the last weekend.
Back to work today and the mail will be very slow.
Hello to everyone on this strip. Gonna be a beautiful day.
The ones out east is alot more of that snow melting? Saw on the news creative use for trying to get the snow to melt. People going back to work.
Krewd, is that a photo of Max?I’m being a nerd and I’m being bold!Cleo, I read about the snow problem at the Olympics. Of course when it’s all over, they’ll probably have blizzard.
Doc, you just may regret it, but the rest of us with have a lot of fun at your expense.
Morning, tribe!
Thanks for the reply, kab2rb. I don’t live in Wichita - but in Butler county. My mom lived in Wichita until her death, and so I have to go in to her house almost everyday to work on getting her stuff sorted & cleared out for the new buyers. I’ve lived in or near Wichita almost my whole life, so I know the area pretty well.
You’re going to have to let me know where the rumble ends up being. It’s sort of like a car wreck - you wouldn’t want to be involved, but it is interesting to watch.
I’m constantly amazed and appalled at the mental gymnastics he must go through to justify his actions biblically. I’m afraid there is no reasoning with someone like him.
My name is LuvH8, and among other things I have difficulty controlling myself from offerring unsolicitated advice and drawing too much attention to myself. (So please give me a little time to work on reforming before you go fishing for me.)
Since I am not recovered yet, I offer this advice:
When you are arguing with an idiot, make sure the other person isn’t doing the same thing.
We really have no idea what is going on in the lives of the other posters on the site. So, don’t go too far please.
Thank you Doctor Toon a compliment from you is always appreciated.
Johnnydoc5 - Was a provider of information not requested a reference to moi? If so, Aaah, Ha ha haa haaaaaaaa! BTW Still not sure why I like your name so much.
Well done Krewd! I just saw it. I tried being nice to Mr. Doty, but he was more concerned with proofreading my posts. So I don’t think he cares what anyone says to him, so long as they are grammatically correct.
Doc, I don’t need anymore bad influences at the bar. I’ve already got alcohol and that is a bad one as it is. And I would say I am more east of you than north, for the record.
Sage advice, once spoken by DocToon, if you don’t like the person, or the comments DON’T READ EM! There are a few around these boards* who post utter nonsense. I just ignore them.*
Since we are discussing nicknames and Johnnydoc5 helped me realize why I chose mine, I will explain with a
Story!!!!!
When I was in school and learning to spell love and hate were merely words spelled with four letters. They were frequently used in innocence to express a general emotion in all its different levels.
In high school, they taught us to see love and hate as not merely words spelled with four letters but as four letter words. Some of us didn’t appreciate that. We chose to follow the advice of those wiser than us. The three monkeys. Since we weren’t actually monkeys we dawned our sunglasses and earmuffs to filter us from the harsh cold reality. Sometimes because of this our words were unintentionally offensive, but we usually meant well.
One of the methods we used to avoid the loss of our innocence was to use ‘Luv’ (in writing) and ‘Wuv’ (in speech) to express love in a friendship/nonsexual way. We chose H8 to represent feelings of all degrees of hate from mild disapproval to extreme disgust, but also in fun or to let the person know we still like them. We used ‘H8 that’ or ‘H8 it’ in our speech.
End of Story!!!!!!! (please stop cheering, GEESH!)
Krewd, I do not like the trolls and I’m sure I am not the only one that feels that way. I don’t like my intelligence being insulted and that’s pretty much why some people dislike Joe. I also do not like when the trolls try to break up the Tribe.
CarmyI don’t consider Joe a troll, but there are some around here who are, and people keep feeding them, Why? I guess because they can’t see the forest for the trees, so to speak.
Krewd, I know that, I wasn’t talking about you. I was referring to the pretenders, and I’m not talking about the band.
Dry, no, I wasn’t saying that Joe was a troll. I just meant that some people dislike him because of his “over” explanations. I agree, some people really need to open up their eyes a bit wider.
BTW - I am aware I have caused trouble here, and am trying to do better. I welcome suggestions that are given, and appreciate when people choose to do so in a nice way.
No need to reply, unless you would like to provide a suggestion or five.
Doc, I went and read those remarks. Not nice of him, not defending what he said, but now maybe you understand something you didn’t before, ya’ know? :-)
Including, but not limited to: (((Tabby))), Dry, DocT (& Krewd), LuvH8, Carmy, cleo.
@Krewd, it may help to know that Joe has talked about a brain injury–that may be why he is rather pedantic, taken to offering excessive information that isn’t really relevant, set in his ways, and so on. Still, while it doesn’t justify his errors and his attacks, know that you are not likely to change him or his opinions.
When I find him in error on a topic, I try to be very rational and historic, offering a better understanding. It may not help Joe himself, but I figure other readers at least have the right to know the truth.
@Krewd, I’m not saying that Joe doesn’t deserve some of the responses–only that, when he’s being more or less reasonable and not attacking, he isn’t half bad. However, when he does make personal attacks and judgments, I have no particular objection to appropriate responses. If he really was concerned to avoid such vitriol, he’d have someone with better judgment vet his responses.
On the other hand, while I cannot control Joe, I can control how I chose to respond, and decide whether I want to descend to his level or not. That means, in general, that no troll can force me to become a troll in return. I am the final one who decides how I act.
Well it would appear that a lot has been said about our favorite pin cushion since I left. I don’t think I need to add anything all the bases have been covered. All I can say about JAD is I have a high degree of tolerance and a quick mouse finger - but once in a while he will make me laugh.
I stopped my blasts at Joe when he stated to someone giving him a hard time about his odd posts, that his brother in law had hit him over the head. Now, I just ignore him. Once, just to stop what I knew would provoke a corrective response from him on 2 Cows, when I made a joke about sausage and eggs, I said Yes, I know roosters can’t lay eggs.
Dry
I did see your comment earlier and I must say that I have not seen El Dorado. Since I am not big on James Caan so it doesn’t surprise me that I haven’t seen it.
I will add 2 more Wayne favorites, though. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance and The Sons of Katie Elder.
wow! signed in around 1 pm and over 200 posts! only got through part of page 1 but had to reply to a couple (despite my first attempt going kaflooey).
Dry you’re correct about James Caan in Rio Lobo (which WAS the movie with George Plimpton in it). Hi character was referred to as “Mon Soor” since the ‘real’ name was too long, and he wound up accidentally shooting John Wayne in the end (so to speak).
i must also note to Terry & BC13 that i like Bogart as well (watched African Queen on TCM Sunday).
but my favourite star, if i had to pick one, is Rigel - the end star in Orion’s belt.
and now, it’s time for work. bbml
Dry
I saw The Parent Trap just recently. Good movie. I’ll have to add it to my collection some time. I have Rio Bravo though. Unless I missed something, I think those are the 2 you refer to
hey bunny I’m glad t be home, long long day at work! It’s bad when you can’t get on here for a minute or two in between work time, LOL! Everything just started happening at once!
Well, I am home. Now I have to begin dinner as LilG just left for work. Dry you will appreciate this, tonight we are having Bruscitt con Polenta, or in the crude English language, chopped meat on Polenta. Pancetta and chopped steak slow cook in red wine for 3 or more hours and is served on polenta. I also have to go to the bookmobile, but will try to come and check in with you fine folks every once and awhile.
Cleo, I had to go see my insurance man, check the batteries for my mother’s garage door opener & front door lock and pick up some repair parts for a customer’s car I’m repairing tomorrow.
Oops, that was over 40. I was busy making ashes again–lots of palms to burn.
I’ve been using a No. 10 can with a few air holes drilled in the bottom for ventilation. And gradually learning how to best use it for optimum results.
And to leave it outside so’s nobody thinks there’s a fire…
And to be sure to leave it out so there really isn’t a fire…
According to my sister, this Powerpoint video (http://www.authorstream.com/presentation/INSOMNIA555-291106-frio-invierno-winter-entertainment-ppt-powerpoint/) is from Chicago and the Midwest. I cannot vouch for it either way.
bunny I remember about 5 years ago, the beginning of our Mass was burning the previous years palms that everyone was asked to bring to the church. It was done on the back porch of the Rectory, one of my sons was one of the altar servers. A wind kicked up and Father almost burned the porch roof! He had a great sense of humor, it was funny, but scary because my son was right there.
Yes. the wind, and the nature of the palms, means they don’t burn well, but when the flames go out, they sort of “cook” with lots of smoke. However, sometimes that smoke and charcoal ignite again, and it can be quite exciting, if you are close enough…
One advantage of the can is that not so many fit that I have to worry about flames getting too big. And this year the snow banks are convenient places to perch the can, on a block of wood…
Well, time for Mardi Gras supper…
Sad to say, I won’t be having gumbo, or dirty rice, or…
Well, it was another fine day here, temps in the low fifties and after some early morning rain, sun. We have been getting most of our rain at night, which to me is perfect. Now, we are supposed to have several sunny days in a row.
Hello Tabby, it sounds like you had a fun day. I like to bowl, but do it very seldom. The way I knock down pins is to throw the ball with so much force that sheer ricochet and vibration knock them down.
Cleo My pastors mom, passed away today at 8am this morning. She was like a grandmother to me. I have lost family membors and friends of the family before, but never have i lost someone as close to my heart as her. she means so much to me. I know she is better off and i know where she is at. Her suffering and pain is over now. But i miss her. I love her and always will.
I’d hope so. I’ve even thanked and commended him, on rare occasions…
Still, I think he is one of the more literal fundamentalists I’ve ever encountered. I just wonder what he does with texts like Mt 16:18-19, or John 6: 48-58, or Mt 26:26-29, or 1 Cor 11: 17-29. I’ll bet these verses, which Catholics tend to take literally, get a symbolic interpretation…
Thanks for the clip about Jackalopes. I vaguely remember seeing something about them before. Mighty horny jackrabbits, if you ask me. Pardon the bad pun.
Oh Gee Doc! You are so naive! Ever hear of Google Earth or GPS? Geez man, the GRABBY GIRLS will be there in no time! And we brought wildcheetah’s mom a very nice older gent to sit and visit with while we do our job! Who knows, you may have a double wedding in the future! :-D
Krewd since he doesn’t have much for tv, I suppose it would. How did you get caught up in a bar fight and get home so quick? Do you have some magic charm? :-D
I have changed my browser to Firefox recently along with my Windows 7 upgrade and I now can see the reviews of the strips in the A-Z listings. Go figure!
Dry it was very good. It did not develop into a thick reduced sauce as they said it would, but I didn’t think it would, because it was only wine. I have cooked enough where I have a pretty good idea if a recipe is going to do what they proclaim it will. The flavor was wonderful though. The meat absorbed the flavor of the wine and it all was great on polenta. I have changed the way I cook , since I have met my wife. She likes to follow recipes, where I like to use them as a guide. Tonight, she said, after dinner, You know mushrooms would have been a good addition and I replied yes, that is what I would have added right from the beginning, along with onions. LOL
Tabby, I think it’s because of the cold/cough I picked up from daughter #3. I didn’t want to eat anything at all, but I have to eat before I take some medication that the doctor gave me. I have to eat and take the medication with 8 ounces of water. Luckily, I only have to do that in the morning and the evening. My appetite has been a bit out of whack.
Cleo I love to use lots of onions and garlic when I cook! I love the smell of them frying in the kitchen. I often add peppers, mostly sweet because everybody but me is pretty tame in the heat dept.! I add my hot stuff later! I find such a peace in chopping vegetables, too!
Thanks Cleo! I don’t drink, but I used to once in awhile forever ago. When I was in WA, I had some Merlot at an office party and I thought it was good.
Dry yes, I love to just rock away with a knife. My wife uses this chopper that is really quick, but a pain in the a$$ to wash. I like the zen of chopping with a nice sharp knife.
We usually add our heat as we eat. We always have a little wooden container full of dried red peppers and we have a whole shelf in our cupboard dedicated to hot sauce.
Dry, it is a dry very intense red that goes perfectly with Italian meat sauces that have lots of depth in their flavors. They can be pricey so we do not have them often, but you have to splurge every so often. I love good wines and we try to have an nice bottle with each nights dinner.
JFri, it is funny you should mention fingers, but my wife cuts herself with a knife much more frequently than I do . Probably because I use a knife more often.
I hear ya’ Cleo! I cut the same finger twice! Sun. and Mon. one on each side of the same finger! And since I take a baby aspirin 81 mg daily, of course I bleed, and bleed for awhile! PITA!
Yeah, cleo, people tend to use too much pressure with a dull knife with ugly results! I use knives on a daily basis and have learned to carry several so I always have a sharp one to use.
I did not Dry.
And Carmy, it was not smart of me, for some reason my spellcheck corrected my spelling of unintelligently (which apparently isn’t a word) with intelligent. I might be leaving myself a lot of problems for tomorrow, but I don’t care.
Carmy i have been telling her to stop the whole time shes been pregnant. she tells me “im stressed so i smoke” i tell her “your hurting lucas” she says “hes protected by all of this stuff,” and pokes her belly. i shake my head and arguy back its not point wiht her
Yes, Tabby, you need to be there for your friend.
Dry, is that your cat’s eye view of BT?
I have a coupon for a free dozen glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme and I keep forgetting to go get them. The coupon may already be expired, I’ve had it long enough.
Cleo, I have noticed that you are pretty with it music wise! FYI, Mandissa is a Christian music singer.
JFri, good for you! I’m really not up with the music nowadays. I’m really appreciating the classics and Christian music.
Carmy i dont like lady gaga or that kind of music i listen to the same as you, but i have a friend who gets into my car and changes my stations. :0( GRRR
Peace and Love, Cleo!Tabby, my oldest daughter will change my station too. Once I start feeling a headache coming on, I make her change it back to my station. BTW, most of the new stuff is not even music, it’s all studio magic. Most of those singers couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket.
Carmy i wanted to just fall out of my chair when i heard the lyrics “i wake up in the morning bursh my teeth with a bottle of jack” i was like what the HE CK!
Someone, I think Cleo but not sure, had a couple posts of the same thing like I had yesterday morning. What a mess mine was! Haven’t seen any “gremlins of the other sort” for a while! LOL!
holy smoke!!!!!!!!
are we a yappy bunch today or what??
finally caught up and now it’s almost turnover.
Tabby i was sorry to hear about your two jolts of bad news. my heartfelt condolences.
BC13 has shown me my error regarding Rio Lobo (can the master of all trivia live it down?), but now i’m stuck wondering which movie Caan did costar in. oh well.
JFri the 800 must have been either before my time, or a day i missed, but we got past page 11 the day i joined the Tribe last August (it was Carmy’s birthday party).
thanks Carmy that’s a good idea (so i don’t drive myself nuts trying to remember - i don’t think it’s one of the ones i own, either, so i can’t just go look on the shelf).
Goodnight, Johnny!yyyguy, I figured that would help you. I know I hate to be trying to remember something, which unfortunately happens a bit too often.

I don’t remember how many hurt. This happened over the last weekend. Back to work today and the mail will be very slow. Hello to everyone on this strip. Gonna be a beautiful day. The ones out east is alot more of that snow melting? Saw on the news creative use for trying to get the snow to melt. People going back to work.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Krewd, is that a photo of Max? I’m being a nerd and I’m being bold! Cleo, I read about the snow problem at the Olympics. Of course when it’s all over, they’ll probably have blizzard. Doc, you just may regret it, but the rest of us with have a lot of fun at your expense.

tsk tsk, Doc! Old Joe’s going to have a conniption fit!

Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Morning, tribe! Thanks for the reply, kab2rb. I don’t live in Wichita - but in Butler county. My mom lived in Wichita until her death, and so I have to go in to her house almost everyday to work on getting her stuff sorted & cleared out for the new buyers. I’ve lived in or near Wichita almost my whole life, so I know the area pretty well.

You’re going to have to let me know where the rumble ends up being. It’s sort of like a car wreck - you wouldn’t want to be involved, but it is interesting to watch.

Good Morning DFrog & Rmom.

Krewd, Max is a cutie. FYI, Joe gets really annoyed at being called JAD. Doc, I’m going with Krewd, too. Hi Rmom!

Doc, what’s those words of wisdom of yours, “Play nice!”
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Doc, did you dare correct JAD? You think you know better than the provider of information not requested? I hope you know what your up against.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
I’m constantly amazed and appalled at the mental gymnastics he must go through to justify his actions biblically. I’m afraid there is no reasoning with someone like him.

Hello & Welcome Krewd
My name is LuvH8, and among other things I have difficulty controlling myself from offerring unsolicitated advice and drawing too much attention to myself. (So please give me a little time to work on reforming before you go fishing for me.)
Since I am not recovered yet, I offer this advice:
When you are arguing with an idiot, make sure the other person isn’t doing the same thing.
We really have no idea what is going on in the lives of the other posters on the site. So, don’t go too far please.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
That being said, I really don’t have room to talk and wish you fun in your fishing.
Just stopped by in an effort to smile before facing the real world today.
Now that I have even laughed: Be Happy Everyone!
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Thank you Doctor Toon a compliment from you is always appreciated.
Johnnydoc5 - Was a provider of information not requested a reference to moi? If so, Aaah, Ha ha haa haaaaaaaa! BTW Still not sure why I like your name so much.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Well done Krewd! I just saw it. I tried being nice to Mr. Doty, but he was more concerned with proofreading my posts. So I don’t think he cares what anyone says to him, so long as they are grammatically correct. Doc, I don’t need anymore bad influences at the bar. I’ve already got alcohol and that is a bad one as it is. And I would say I am more east of you than north, for the record.
Saucy1121 Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Good morning, tribe. Welcome, Krewd. Will look on events with interest.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
No LuvH8, it was for JAD. I am not sure why my name is so fascinating to you, but that is cool. It was my nickname as a kid, so I thought I’d use it.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Doc, thanks for the reminder about the trolls. Remember Krewd, don’t feed the trolls! Once you do, they NEVER go away.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago

Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Sage advice, once spoken by DocToon, if you don’t like the person, or the comments DON’T READ EM! There are a few around these boards* who post utter nonsense. I just ignore them.*
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Since we are discussing nicknames and Johnnydoc5 helped me realize why I chose mine, I will explain with a
Story!!!!!When I was in school and learning to spell love and hate were merely words spelled with four letters.
(please stop cheering, GEESH!)cleokaya almost 15 years ago

carmy almost 15 years ago
Krewd, I do not like the trolls and I’m sure I am not the only one that feels that way. I don’t like my intelligence being insulted and that’s pretty much why some people dislike Joe. I also do not like when the trolls try to break up the Tribe.
carmy almost 15 years ago
(((((((Tabby)))))))
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
CarmyI don’t consider Joe a troll, but there are some around here who are, and people keep feeding them, Why? I guess because they can’t see the forest for the trees, so to speak.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Krewd, Don’t you kow I am practicing here? Seriously, I love words, but don’t know if I could be eloquent often enough to go anywhere with it.
Tabby Lynn - You have my sympathy, and good wishes.

Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Krewd if YOU’RE THAT BORED, come and scrub my kitchen floor for me. I tried to get * Doc* to do it yesterday, but it was too close to his bedtime.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Krewd, I know that, I wasn’t talking about you. I was referring to the pretenders, and I’m not talking about the band. Dry, no, I wasn’t saying that Joe was a troll. I just meant that some people dislike him because of his “over” explanations. I agree, some people really need to open up their eyes a bit wider.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Okay Doc, I’ll be holding you to that promise!
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
BTW - I am aware I have caused trouble here, and am trying to do better. I welcome suggestions that are given, and appreciate when people choose to do so in a nice way.
No need to reply, unless you would like to provide a suggestion or five.

I will check back for suggestions, and take the time to consider any before replying.

Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Doc, I went and read those remarks. Not nice of him, not defending what he said, but now maybe you understand something you didn’t before, ya’ know? :-)
carmy almost 15 years ago
Krewd, I will be your Auntie Carmy if you will be viciously protective of me too. :)
bmonk almost 15 years ago
Including, but not limited to: (((Tabby))), Dry, DocT (& Krewd), LuvH8, Carmy, cleo.
@Krewd, it may help to know that Joe has talked about a brain injury–that may be why he is rather pedantic, taken to offering excessive information that isn’t really relevant, set in his ways, and so on. Still, while it doesn’t justify his errors and his attacks, know that you are not likely to change him or his opinions.
When I find him in error on a topic, I try to be very rational and historic, offering a better understanding. It may not help Joe himself, but I figure other readers at least have the right to know the truth.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hello bmonk! Doc, that would be like sending Krewd to Siberia. No offense, Bmonk, but your state is like the frozen tundra.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Good one, Krewd! I was going to suggest that you should save that.
bmonk almost 15 years ago
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Well, Krewd we can dance around these issues all afternoon, but MY KITCHEN FLOOR STILL NEEDS MOPPED, SIR! You never ans. my ? about that.
bmonk almost 15 years ago

Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
hi bunny and now I know why you’re a monk! :-)
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Well it would appear that a lot has been said about our favorite pin cushion since I left. I don’t think I need to add anything all the bases have been covered. All I can say about JAD is I have a high degree of tolerance and a quick mouse finger - but once in a while he will make me laugh.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I stopped my blasts at Joe when he stated to someone giving him a hard time about his odd posts, that his brother in law had hit him over the head. Now, I just ignore him. Once, just to stop what I knew would provoke a corrective response from him on 2 Cows, when I made a joke about sausage and eggs, I said Yes, I know roosters can’t lay eggs.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Dry I did see your comment earlier and I must say that I have not seen El Dorado. Since I am not big on James Caan so it doesn’t surprise me that I haven’t seen it.
I will add 2 more Wayne favorites, though. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance and The Sons of Katie Elder.

Doc It’sa cold and clear start to the day here in Pasadena TX where I work, but things are already getting better. Mid-50’s by 3PM.

Doc, nice diversionary tactic, my friend. Here it is 48 degrees, it rained this morning, but has stopped and is supposed to clear some this afternoon.

Clear and semi-cold. Supposed to be around 20F for highs (- 5-10 C or so) for the next several days.

wow! signed in around 1 pm and over 200 posts! only got through part of page 1 but had to reply to a couple (despite my first attempt going kaflooey). Dry you’re correct about James Caan in Rio Lobo (which WAS the movie with George Plimpton in it). Hi character was referred to as “Mon Soor” since the ‘real’ name was too long, and he wound up accidentally shooting John Wayne in the end (so to speak). i must also note to Terry & BC13 that i like Bogart as well (watched African Queen on TCM Sunday). but my favourite star, if i had to pick one, is Rigel - the end star in Orion’s belt. and now, it’s time for work. bbml

cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Well, I am home. Now I have to begin dinner as LilG just left for work. Dry you will appreciate this, tonight we are having Bruscitt con Polenta, or in the crude English language, chopped meat on Polenta. Pancetta and chopped steak slow cook in red wine for 3 or more hours and is served on polenta. I also have to go to the bookmobile, but will try to come and check in with you fine folks every once and awhile.

bmonk almost 15 years ago
Oops, that was over 40. I was busy making ashes again–lots of palms to burn.
I’ve been using a No. 10 can with a few air holes drilled in the bottom for ventilation. And gradually learning how to best use it for optimum results.
And to leave it outside so’s nobody thinks there’s a fire…
And to be sure to leave it out so there really isn’t a fire…

Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
bunny I remember about 5 years ago, the beginning of our Mass was burning the previous years palms that everyone was asked to bring to the church. It was done on the back porch of the Rectory, one of my sons was one of the altar servers. A wind kicked up and Father almost burned the porch roof! He had a great sense of humor, it was funny, but scary because my son was right there.
bmonk almost 15 years ago
Yes. the wind, and the nature of the palms, means they don’t burn well, but when the flames go out, they sort of “cook” with lots of smoke.
Sad to say, I won’t be having gumbo, or dirty rice, or…

cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello Tabby, it sounds like you had a fun day. I like to bowl, but do it very seldom. The way I knock down pins is to throw the ball with so much force that sheer ricochet and vibration knock them down.

Howdy Doc, Shika & bunnyface.
bmonk almost 15 years ago
I’d hope so. I’ve even thanked and commended him, on rare occasions…
Still, I think he is one of the more literal fundamentalists I’ve ever encountered. I just wonder what he does with texts like Mt 16:18-19, or John 6: 48-58, or Mt 26:26-29, or 1 Cor 11: 17-29. I’ll bet these verses, which Catholics tend to take literally, get a symbolic interpretation…

I have changed my browser to Firefox recently along with my Windows 7 upgrade and I now can see the reviews of the strips in the A-Z listings. Go figure!

TabbyLynn WHERE’S MY PIZZA? GEEZ GIRL!
carmy almost 15 years ago
You are very welcome Sweet Tabby! Thanks for the pizza too. The oldest daughter made spaghetti and I just couldn’t eat it. I had toast.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
LOL
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo, where’s the leftovers? Tabby, love you too!!
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Yeah, Tabby, and MY pizza???
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Carmy why couldnt you eat it?
Dry here YOU go!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Krewd well it would appear that you do have a magic charm! Did they mirandize you? Just kidding!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Carmy, leftovers were skimpy.
Terry, I have been having Safari problems so I am using Firefox as well.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy, toast, no spaghetti?
((((((((((((((((((CARMY)))))))))))))))))
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
im hungry now.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I do not know how many of you like nice wines, but we had a very nice Nebbiolo for dinner.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Cleo, this is the first I have used anything other than IE. And I am really getting to like it.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Tabby, I think it’s because of the cold/cough I picked up from daughter #3. I didn’t want to eat anything at all, but I have to eat before I take some medication that the doctor gave me. I have to eat and take the medication with 8 ounces of water. Luckily, I only have to do that in the morning and the evening. My appetite has been a bit out of whack.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Thanks Dry!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
(((Carmy))*
I like some things better with Firefox Terry, but some things are better with Safari, so it is kind of a wash.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
We are all posting at once again! LOL!
Cleo I love to use lots of onions and garlic when I cook! I love the smell of them frying in the kitchen. I often add peppers, mostly sweet because everybody but me is pretty tame in the heat dept.! I add my hot stuff later! I find such a peace in chopping vegetables, too!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I guess that’s why I like Carmy’s machetes! LOL!
carmy almost 15 years ago
Thanks Cleo! I don’t drink, but I used to once in awhile forever ago. When I was in WA, I had some Merlot at an office party and I thought it was good.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Cleo, I have never tried Safari, but have been told to try it at least for a few days. Maybe………………….later. LOL
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Jfri just saw you sorry! here you go enjoy!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Dry yes, I love to just rock away with a knife. My wife uses this chopper that is really quick, but a pain in the a$$ to wash. I like the zen of chopping with a nice sharp knife.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, my machetes are always at your disposal, use them well! ;-)
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I enjoy wines, Cleo! But that one I am not familiar with. Is it sweet or dry? NO PUN INTENDED HERE!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
We usually add our heat as we eat. We always have a little wooden container full of dried red peppers and we have a whole shelf in our cupboard dedicated to hot sauce.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
cleo, as long as you don’t leave your fingers in the way!!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Dry, it is a dry very intense red that goes perfectly with Italian meat sauces that have lots of depth in their flavors. They can be pricey so we do not have them often, but you have to splurge every so often. I love good wines and we try to have an nice bottle with each nights dinner.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Cleo please keep all fingers on hand.
Carmy get well soon.
dry its still funny, and even more so when u tell us that its not a pun. :D
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
JFri, it is funny you should mention fingers, but my wife cuts herself with a knife much more frequently than I do . Probably because I use a knife more often.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
And, more people are cut with dull knives than sharp.
carmy almost 15 years ago
heebie jeebie alert! knives and cuts and dull blades too, ACK!!!
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
More people are cut badly by a dull knife than a sharp one, actually, cleo!!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I hear ya’ Cleo! I cut the same finger twice! Sun. and Mon. one on each side of the same finger! And since I take a baby aspirin 81 mg daily, of course I bleed, and bleed for awhile! PITA!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Do I sound like our Tabby girl?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Is that what it is JFri? I just know that a sharp knife is so much more efficient and the blade responds correctly.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, yes you do. Love ya, Tabby!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Gosh, page 8. We are hitting the numbers like we have not hit in a long, long, time. So, we should be thinking of Anniversary parties here, soon.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I was just listening to this on my CD. I love this, thought I’d share, which I think I did before, but I LOVE THIS SONG!.

carmy almost 15 years ago
That’s a great idea, Cleo!
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Dry LOL yes you do! :0P
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
You are such a lamb, Carmy; snerk
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Yeah, cleo, people tend to use too much pressure with a dull knife with ugly results! I use knives on a daily basis and have learned to carry several so I always have a sharp one to use.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Got to tell you that using an oyster shucking knife after several large Black Russians ain’t a great idea, either!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Snide remark aside Carmy, maybe a massive blow out party with plenty of celebrities. Maybe Thom Thom would want to be a factor.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
JFri you scare me! ;-)
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
JFri, I do a bleeep good job shucking oysters. My local faves, kumamotos.
Movie time.
Peace and Love
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Well I think since we use * Rob’s* site, and he has been so gracious, he should be our SPECIAL guest!
carmy almost 15 years ago
(batting eyelashes) are you saying I’m cute, Cleo?
Yes, a massive blow-out party sounds like a plan! I bet Thom would want to be a factor.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, of course! Rob would definitely be our special guest.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
carmy YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! AND SO ARE YOU DRY
carmy almost 15 years ago
Peace and Love, Cleo!
carmy almost 15 years ago
So are you (((((Tabby Girl)))))
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Blush
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago

carmy almost 15 years ago
Oh no, Tabby! Now what?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Tabby???
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
my godchildrens parents are getting a devorce
carmy almost 15 years ago
Tabby, I’m so sorry to hear that.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Good (late) evening all! Celebrating Mardi Gras a bit intelligently, especially for what tomorrow has in store, but I thought I’d say hi.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hi Johnny!
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Hi Dry! Man, today was a yappy day!
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hi Johnny! Smart of you to do that.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Carmy she is pregnant right now, due march 20th and having contractions. sigh.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
oh and shes smoking bc shes stressed. :0( poor baby godchild
carmy almost 15 years ago
Tabby, I’m sure the stress of the situation is not helping your friend at all. Maybe the stress is bringing on the divorce talk too.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Jdoc im going to waste my breath and tell u to behave.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Oh no, she needs to stop smoking immediately.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Yes johnny, it was a yappy day! Did you have Faschnacht donuts today?
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Carmy this has been coming for a while now. they got pregnant again to help it. well it just made it worse. what to do what to do what to do.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Um, Johnny? Your avatar is a bit strange. What is it?
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
I did not Dry. And Carmy, it was not smart of me, for some reason my spellcheck corrected my spelling of unintelligently (which apparently isn’t a word) with intelligent. I might be leaving myself a lot of problems for tomorrow, but I don’t care.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Carmy i have been telling her to stop the whole time shes been pregnant. she tells me “im stressed so i smoke” i tell her “your hurting lucas” she says “hes protected by all of this stuff,” and pokes her belly. i shake my head and arguy back its not point wiht her
carmy almost 15 years ago
Getting pregnant again is not helping the situation. Now they will have another innocent child to add to the mix.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Oh Johnny, they are so good, at least around here, and that’s about the only time I eat donuts anymore, notice I said, “about the only time”! LOL!
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Carmy it was a very bad idea. but being her friend i am there for her now
carmy almost 15 years ago
Tsk tsk, Johnny. I hope everything goes well for you tomorrow anyway.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I am sorry (((Tabby))).
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Smoking is not a good thing to add to this.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Yes, Tabby, you need to be there for your friend. Dry, is that your cat’s eye view of BT? I have a coupon for a free dozen glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme and I keep forgetting to go get them. The coupon may already be expired, I’ve had it long enough.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Carmy i want krispy kreme!
Cleo thanks
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Tabby are those friends in your avatar? You made some mention, but I missed any follow up. .
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Cleo no, this is one of carmy and mine fav singers. the lady is mandissa. the man is a guy on my radio station i listen to
carmy almost 15 years ago
Tabby, I’ll see if I can get them tomorrow.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Gotcha!
carmy almost 15 years ago
Who did you get, Cleo?
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
cool beans Carmy ’ cleo got the pic.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
cleo, may I interest you in a Bookers?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Carmy whom did I get? If anybody, maybe REM.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo knows who Mandissa is?
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
carmy. lol idk he asked who was in the pic so i told him now hes up to date
carmy almost 15 years ago
Okay, I misunderstood. All is well!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
JFri Booker’s sounds wonderful. Carmy, I am pretty with it music wise, but no, I have no knowledge of Mandissa.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
I know who Lady Gaga is!!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Of course you do JFri. LOL
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
For Pete’s sake, JFri, how are you wanting alcohol now??? Carmy, I’ll be fine tomorrow, I hope…
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Here ya go, cleo. Dry?
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
johnny, it’s only 9:41 here.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Jfrishes the one that sings that song that keeps getting stuck in my head. UGH!
Cleo you have to do some reshearch on her she has an amazing voice! love her
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo, I have noticed that you are pretty with it music wise! FYI, Mandissa is a Christian music singer. JFri, good for you! I’m really not up with the music nowadays. I’m really appreciating the classics and Christian music.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Alcohol.. of course he wants alcohol. And me too.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Here we go again! What a mess I had the other night! The Gremlins at gocomics are at work again!
carmy almost 15 years ago
I’m hoping too, Johnny, but I’m sure you’ll be just fine!
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Sorry I forgot about the time shift. You and Cleo should have a bout with my 151. That’d put ya down right quick!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
You know, I am going to call it a night.
Peace and Love
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Carmy i dont like lady gaga or that kind of music i listen to the same as you, but i have a friend who gets into my car and changes my stations. :0( GRRR
carmy almost 15 years ago
The gremlins are about? I haven’t seen them yet.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Yes Carmy, that is my cat’s eye, keeping an eye on things! He looks pretty cool, don’t ya’ think?
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Dry great pic pretty kitty
carmy almost 15 years ago
Peace and Love, Cleo! Tabby, my oldest daughter will change my station too. Once I start feeling a headache coming on, I make her change it back to my station. BTW, most of the new stuff is not even music, it’s all studio magic. Most of those singers couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Carmy i wanted to just fall out of my chair when i heard the lyrics “i wake up in the morning bursh my teeth with a bottle of jack” i was like what the HE CK!
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
our Mandissa can!!!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Someone, I think Cleo but not sure, had a couple posts of the same thing like I had yesterday morning. What a mess mine was! Haven’t seen any “gremlins of the other sort” for a while! LOL!
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
carmy almost 15 years ago
Tabby, Mandissa definitely can! Dry, it was me that the gremlins attacked also.
carmy almost 15 years ago
I’m thinking it had something to do with the flip because that’s when it happened.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
I think bmonk was saying our yappy record was 400 or 500 posts but we exceeded 800 once.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
yea, you both had that problem at the same time
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
holy smoke!!!!!!!! are we a yappy bunch today or what?? finally caught up and now it’s almost turnover. Tabby i was sorry to hear about your two jolts of bad news. my heartfelt condolences. BC13 has shown me my error regarding Rio Lobo (can the master of all trivia live it down?), but now i’m stuck wondering which movie Caan did costar in. oh well.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Tabby, you didn’t make breakfast today!! SNERK!!!
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hi yyyguy! You should check imdb for James Caan movies.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
JFri the 800 must have been either before my time, or a day i missed, but we got past page 11 the day i joined the Tribe last August (it was Carmy’s birthday party).
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
jfri not my fault no one drove snerk
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
thanks Carmy that’s a good idea (so i don’t drive myself nuts trying to remember - i don’t think it’s one of the ones i own, either, so i can’t just go look on the shelf).
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Hi yyyguy I am up WAY too late, so I am going to cut my losses and catch some zzz’s whilst I can. Peace and love all!
carmy almost 15 years ago
yyyguy, I remember that! I used to be the designated driver, but someone booted me out of that job, sniff sniff.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Tabby, you didn’t designate a driver! Your fault!! :-)
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
I think we hit the 800+ on Joy’s birthday???
carmy almost 15 years ago
Goodnight, Johnny! yyyguy, I figured that would help you. I know I hate to be trying to remember something, which unfortunately happens a bit too often.
