Tabby Lynn - I am just now catching up on the comments and have read of your loss. I offer my sincere condolences and apologize for the inappropriate timing of my joke. The joke has been removed and a message left in its stead if you care to read it.
CARMY and MARG. Could you teach my significant other what breakfast is? I had to make my own pancakes Shrove Tuesday. At least my coffee pot is set on auto.
I have been frustrated these last few days. I wanted to comment on many strips, but the batteries in my keyboard went dead. I live in a tiny burg with nothing here so I couldn’t drive 20 minutes to town just for a couple of batteries. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGG!!! But it’s ok. I’m not addicted. I’m not. I’m not.
I’ve just spent some of the last couple of days sorting through stuff. I managed to force myself get rid of several bags and a box of stuff. It’s stuff I haven’t even looked at for years, but I’m going through withdrawl pains. I’m sure I’ll need this stuff [whatever it is] someday. HELP!!
BC 13 - Good Morning, I looked up grog is really some kind of alcoholic beverage dating back from around 1740. The weird thing is that I was familiar enough with the word to guess that.
I’m sorry Serenasakitty, it is hard to get rid of stuff. Even stuff you know you will never use again. Which is why I never tell my grandma when I give away her stuff. She’ll only miss it if she remembers she has it.
Good Morning!Doc, you should use something like Turbo Tax and do your taxes yourself. You can even do your state taxes with it, if
your state requires that.
Now that everyone is starting to talk about taxes [blaaah] I’m getting scared. I think I’ll crawl back into bed and pull the blanket over my head. I tried to do my own taxes one time. After getting about six different figures, I gave up and now I take all my forms to H&R Block and let them get the headache.
After TWO rants in as nany hours I really need ice cream. Can’t keep up my strenght to follow everybody without ice cream.
Good morning, tribe! I haven’t read any comics today, except BT, so I’ve got to make my rounds to see what y’all are talking about.
Thanks for the many compliments on my avatar. Some of Mom’s artwork is now posted at my photobucket account.
Last year at Christmas, my oldest nephew Why (10, yes I really call him that) was making fun of his little sister and cousin (both 3) for playing with Barbies. I asked him if he knew what action figures were. He said, ” No Aunt Bliip I don’t know.” So I told him action figures are dolls for boys. He’s all like no they aren’t and looks at his mom. She smiles and says that yes actually they are. Then we all laughed.
See. I can’t even keep track of my spelling. That’s what happens when I don’t have access to ice cream.
Okay enough of that. I’d better get busy sometime today. Little to do and lots of time to do it. Or something. I’ll go before everyone thinks I’m getting silly. [Getting???]
BC13, I was pretty sure it was you that was talking about that yesterday. Texas is my home state. I was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. I have several friends in the Houston/Pasadena area.
Doc, the websites that are available for you to do your taxes guide you through every step. They will save your info so if you return the next year to do you taxes there again, most of your info is already there. You just need to update it. I’ve been using the same one I first started with since the late nineties/early 2000s.
Doctor T or Bunnyface - Can you go explain to me what Bunnyface was saying on Heaven’s in plain simple talking to a marooon language, over there of course. I haven’t a clue.
Doc, I hear you. I used to use H&R until they finked us out to the feds about the earned income credit that a independent tax preparer in CA figured into our return. We had to give the money back.
BC13, my father’s ancestors were granted land in Mexico by the King of Spain. When Texas came about, some of the land ended up being in Texas along the Rio Grande River.
Doctor Toon I have added more and would appreciate a response, but it doesn’t have to be today. I would also be interested in what Bunnyface has to say. The questions are ones I’ve had for a while. (well the last two comments are old issues the others not so much because I didn’t know to ask)

MisngNOLA, was your rate overmanned? I ask because that is the case for my husband. He’s a PO2, GSM. He’s had several years of PNA. Next test is next month. Maybe this time?
Carmy I’ve always ran numbers ever since my frist real job. I;m not in banking anymore, but still do a lot of that type of work. I love doing it, but it gets frustrating when you know you’re missing something simple, usually because you’ve worked on it for too long, and need to step awayand go back in later with a clear head!
BC13, Earl had me until he added M&Ms. Actually I make a large container of dough and we make a variety of things with it depending on what we are having for dinner, like baguettes, naan, pita bread and pizzas.
My wife just got the oddest email. She was looking for red worms to add to our compost. A woman replied saying that she was looking to get rid of her red worm because she was given a new one and wanted to know if my wife would like a photo. LOL Maybe she keeps it in it’s own little house and has it on a leash.
cleo
That’s why my comment was “I think I’m going to be sick” I like M&M’s, but not with gravy.
Your bread sounds good.
I’m calling it a night. When I get home, I’m not even going to turn on my computer, unless I have to and I’m going to relax in front of the TV tonight, put on a disk from the Rockford files. Have some hot dogs and a brew or two and relax.
I know Im going to have to get to my taxes this weekend some time, but not tonight.
bmonk That is for clergy. I’m still a lowly student. Monday is one of my busiest days, unless it’s Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and sometimes Saturday.
And today, I keep hitting my “home” icon rather than the “refresh” and my computer is not happy with me. So immediate responses are not immediate this evening.
@Shika, for those links, you need to put a backslash () before each underline, or it interprets it as an italics on/off marker. Or else embed the link: do [text] (url), only without the space between ] and (, thus:
[Test] (http://www.gocomics.com/features) (this line still has the space)
Good evening, tribe!
It’s been a busy day, but nothing worth complaining about.
bunnyface - I think I’ve found a motto for myself.
“Brevis esse latoro obscurus fio”
What do you think?
Speaking of taxes, I’ve got to get around to that task. My hubby was telling someone at work that I figure ours. When the guy said he wouldn’t dare let his wife figure theirs, my hubby pointed out that I used to fight with the IRS when I was still employed, and won everytime. (Documentation & honesty help immensely!)
Cleo going back to your earlier post about when we had our pics up way back when. That was a hoot! There was me, you, Tabby, Joy, Carmy, JFri, Doc, Marg, Akenta, Johnny, Owlsly, and I think Rad too.
I wouldn’t do that now though, too many people. Speaking of Owlsly I hope all is well with him. I miss his crazy wit and his Olde Englysh, remember that?
I’m reading a Theological book on Consumerism. I may never eat beef again. Or buy anything again. It’s horrible what happens before a product hits the shelves.
Hi, Shika! Just trying to get some food prepared. Also, I’ve got to get my accounting stuff done. (Not taxes, just paying bills, and recording purchases.)
Hi, Terry! I’ve got several quilts here in my house that I need to spread out and photograph yet. Does Wolfangil know the name of the pattern of the quilt that is shown on the bed? I know Mom told me what it is called, but I don’t remember it.
Edit: The rest that are shown that look like quilts are crocheted afghans.
Johnnydoc5 - When I had to study I would do housework to avoid it, and I would study to avoid housework.
Hello Everyone!
I hope you are all having a good evening so far. I am goin to spend some time catching up on what I have missed.
I was reading the other day with Krewd, it was weird the way it was like we were all talking to the same imaginary friend, and that the comments made sense even without his.
I’m NOT tackling taxes tonight! I’m having enough problems tonight getting things to balance that I do every month. My brain cells aren’t up to more difficult tasks until I’m more rested and less in a hurry.
@Rmom, “Brevis esse latoro obscurus fio” (When I work to be brief, I become obscure.) reminds me of a Founding Father–don’t recall which one–who wrote in a (lengthy) letter: “I’m sorry that this is so long, but I have not the time to make it brief.” In other words, it’s quicker to be long-winded; it takes time to get things distilled down to the essential.
Howdy bun, now that is an abbreviation that I can embrace. It has texture and crust and is soft in the middle and has good taste, sounds just like you bunnyface.
Okay, um sorry to disappear like that. I didn’t mean to freak anyone out. I do have to go though. Gma wants food, and I need to have the phone line available for the next few hours.
Not to worry, LuvH8, I am never upset when people must come and go without notice. I figure RL is higher priority, and especially crises are likely to happen. Do what you must. Most likely someone will be here if/when you get back.
I alway like to checkright before I log out. I will be back Bunnyface. I have too many important things/ people I have to take care of to slide into the cave. Thank you.
I have a feeling that the next time that I am in North Dakota will be for the funeral of my aunt or uncle, which is to bad. I love the state, but just have no reason to go there.
bunnyface - I’ve heard that quote (or something similar) attributed to Blaise Pascal. That is me to a T. When I took speech class, I had to write out the whole speech first, then I could write the outline easily. (I speak in random, write in sequential.) But if I wrote an outline first, I’d get writer’s block on how to go from there. Of course, that didn’t make it easy on me trying to teach my sons how to write, since writing comes easily to me. Both my son & I were quite pleased with the B he got in his college essay class! Now he’s taking public speaking, but I don’t think he’s gotten any grades back yet on anything.
You wouldn’t believe how many posts, emails, etc. I’ve written, then read back over before it goes into cyberspace, and I deleted half or more of what I wrote. Too bad I can’t do that for my oral communications!
Three exams in one day just won’t be cool. I realize that every time I think about the upcoming week.
Simple solution, don’t think about next week, yet.
Wolfangil said the quilt on the bed is a fan quilt. She believes it is called a “Mohawk Trail” design. The pattern was first published during the depression era.

Doc when it comes to taxes the results are never good.

Good afternoon, tribe. Don’t talk to me about taxes. Ugh!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Wow, 2 hours since the last post. I guess I will go and make bread.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Bread and gravy? (Pickles)
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
BC13, Earl had me until he added M&Ms. Actually I make a large container of dough and we make a variety of things with it depending on what we are having for dinner, like baguettes, naan, pita bread and pizzas.

How are we today?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
My wife just got the oddest email. She was looking for red worms to add to our compost. A woman replied saying that she was looking to get rid of her red worm because she was given a new one and wanted to know if my wife would like a photo. LOL Maybe she keeps it in it’s own little house and has it on a leash.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
cleo That’s why my comment was “I think I’m going to be sick” I like M&M’s, but not with gravy.
Have a good one.

Hello Skika. I am just going out the door to do the garbage and recycling, but plan to keep checking in here. It has been quiet.

Bunnyface I was that secretary! The boss said to put down the average number.
I told him that I couldn’t do that because my numbers were all above average….

Cleo Yum. Fresh bread smells delicious. Make I have a slice?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Take care BC13.

Not as yappy as two days ago, that’s for sure.
Have fun recycling. See Daddy’s Home.

BC13 Bread, gravy and Pickles? Oh yeah. @ Pickles. Ew. Leftover gravy with bread and M & M’s.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
cleo I just read about the red worm. LOL I wonder what that lady had. Maybe tongue-in-cheek?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Shika I will send you a warm baguette. The dough is doing it’s first rise at the moment.

Hi celecca How are you?
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
Doing well - actually going to mean the TGIF tomorrow.
You?
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I’m doing well. I’m in school, so TGIF doesn’t mean much to me anymore. Didn’t when I was in retail either- since we worked weekends.
But this week, I’ll be glad, because it’s been a busy week.
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
I look forward so much to Saturdays. Sundays I get up and do things, but Saturdays? Unless we’re running low on unmentionables, it is MY Sabbath.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
cleo You buy underwear only on Saturdays? Why? You don’t wear them.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
My Sabbath is whenever I have a free day. Guess that’s never.LOL (Just kidding. It is Sunday for me, but that is a busy day for me now.)
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
I think you meant celecca and I meant doing laundry! :-}
bmonk almost 15 years ago
Many clergy take Mondays off because of all the extra things going on during the weekend…
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Shika, underwear???
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
LOL! I thought that looked funny. Saw the “C”………..
(Puts bag over her head and sneaks out the door.)
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Ah, thank you celecca. I did not think I had mentioned underwear, but then again…I’m old.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
bmonk That is for clergy. I’m still a lowly student. Monday is one of my busiest days, unless it’s Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and sometimes Saturday.
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
My Sundays are corporate Sabbath, my Saturdays personal. Time to walk or read or listen or rail. Time to renew.

Well, I can, but if I want someone to listen, it costs money. LOL
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago

Neither does non carborundum illegitimi, but it’s a good thing to think when stressed!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello Terry.
celecca, where could you have seen a picture of me?
bmonk almost 15 years ago
Yes, jdoc, but to a teen student of Latin, “Always where under where,” is pretty funny.
Also the motto of the Food Service manager: “He knows the faith”, fidem scit.” (scit pronounced in the Italian mode, with a soft “sh” sound)
And there’s always the verb “to spit”: spitto, spittere, ac tui, splatus
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Cleo, I’ve seen a picture of you too, if that gives you a hint.
celeconecca almost 15 years ago

@Shika, for those links, you need to put a backslash () before each underline, or it interprets it as an italics on/off marker. Or else embed the link: do [text] (url), only without the space between ] and (, thus:
[Test] (http://www.gocomics.com/features) (this line still has the space)
Test (now I removed it).
Edit: remove those durn typos.

Good evening, tribe! It’s been a busy day, but nothing worth complaining about. bunnyface - I think I’ve found a motto for myself. “Brevis esse latoro obscurus fio” What do you think?
Speaking of taxes, I’ve got to get around to that task. My hubby was telling someone at work that I figure ours. When the guy said he wouldn’t dare let his wife figure theirs, my hubby pointed out that I used to fight with the IRS when I was still employed, and won everytime. (Documentation & honesty help immensely!)
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I wish we could stop mentioning that obscene word … taxes. LOL

I hope you are all having a good evening so far. I am goin to spend some time catching up on what I have missed.

Dinner was delicious, just waiting for LilG to watch a movie.
Another beautiful day. What can I say, this winter I have lived in Paradise.
bmonk almost 15 years ago
@Rmom, “Brevis esse latoro obscurus fio” (When I work to be brief, I become obscure.) reminds me of a Founding Father–don’t recall which one–who wrote in a (lengthy) letter: “I’m sorry that this is so long, but I have not the time to make it brief.” In other words, it’s quicker to be long-winded; it takes time to get things distilled down to the essential.

bunnyface - I’ve heard that quote (or something similar) attributed to Blaise Pascal.

Wolfangil said the quilt on the bed is a fan quilt. She believes it is called a “Mohawk Trail” design. The pattern was first published during the depression era.
