I watched more TV. I never ever though of cutting the thighs and legs off the turkey (or other bird) off before baking and then removing the breast after it was done and continuing to cook the dark meat until it is done.

I should still be snoozing but I couldn’t get back to sleep. Well, at least I can take a snoozle if I need to later on.

Not a huge cooking day for me. Gonna make some apple pies, and when my son wakes up (he sleeps in the living room) I’ll start prepping the turkey. Last night we had what I consider a feast, T-Bone steak, mashed potatoes and gravy. Got the steak through Angel Food Ministries at a good price and they were very good.

Today’s dinner menu: Bone-in ham, almost straight from the farmer (bought it at Stroot Locker who buys it from the farmer). “Funeral” potatoes - cheesy potato casserole with cornflake topping Leftover roast beef for our “kosher” son Homemade dinner rolls Pumpkin pie, ala mode

I’m thankful I don’t have to spend Thanksgiving with any of our other relatives!

Thanks, Sojo! It was very enjoyable, if I do say so myself. My hubby helped a wee bit, but I did the bulk of the cooking today. I’m still trying to put the leftover ham away (removing the fat, so it takes longer) because even a “small” ham was way too much. If I’d been thinking, I’d have them cut it into two at the locker.

Did you have a good Thanksgiving Day or are you just getting started? I know some have a late afternoon or evening meal.

Hi, Hope&Joy! It is great to have a group of friends like we have here. I love my family, but sometimes I need other extroverts to interact with, and this is so convenient.

Before I forget to answer Kab’s question… The two books I picked up from the library are: “Bonhoeffer - Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy” by Eric Metaxas (a biography) and “Deceived” by James Scott Bell (fiction). I just finished reading “The Twelfth Imam” by Joel Rosenberg (fiction). Both fiction books are probably characterized as “suspense thrillers”. The Joel Rosenberg book could almost be next week’s news in Iran. It is so good, my husband stayed up late each night reading it, until he got it finished. Considering he hates to read, that’s saying something!

A side bar for what it’s worth…one of my nephews was on the jury in Austin that convicted Tom DeLay of money laundering this week. He will be up for a visit soon and I will look forward to listening. I know he is glad it is over.

Hello all we had a very nice Thanksgiving day. Thanks for letting me know of the books you check out. and Hope&Joy that’s okay about missing me. Lonewolf you won’t be the only one working on Friday my daughter’s guy works as a driver for a local auto parts and they have been warned it will be dead for two days. Hope&Joy strange your brought up your nephew on jury duty Tom Delay. Reminds of of one my husband was on years ago. I was attending a local technical college talking to a fellow student about jury duty. Turns out this fellow student was a victim of a armed robbery in his home. My husband told me a little of it. I would not tell the fellow student who one of the jurors were at the time. Turns out my husband was on the same case as this fellow student was the victim. The victim told me about his case and the defendant who was accused of the crime. I didn’t say a word to either until the case was over. I did not attend the court hearing my husband was a juror on. After this case ended I told him. He said the jurors almost didn’t believe the victim though there were two items that stood out for him. There was a conviction of the armed robber who threaten the victim. I never did tell the guy about his case. The case was very terrifying.

My lap top is being very slow on responding. Very hard to correct errors sorry for repeats on small words. Our family draws name and gives our mom hard time on money limits. She is not poor. The rest of us yes.

We had a wonderful day. A friend brought a delicious berry salad very lite not over powering in sugar.

I kept the real story brief. What a coincidence of the two for the same court hearing one a victim the other juror. If you are interested I can give more information but I won’t name names. If not that is fine. The victim was very angry and had a right to be.

Almost time for bed for me. Watching news then clean up and turn in. Good night to all. Very cold here temps are now 24degrees. And December will soon be here and not much longer until the New Year and before this I will be older. I finally get my BD off without pay. The day is not now but will be coming.

A long, restful, thankful day–

after my earliest post above, I had two liturgies, one fourteen miles away, preaching at both (a nice little homily, I’m told), then rested and read and otherwise had a quiet day of thanks. At 4:00 p.m. we had Vespers, followed by a festal dinner of turkey and trimmings, including asparagus and assorted salads, a white wine (Edelzwicker?) and a bit later assorted pies, including a Shaker lemon pie and a cottage cheese pie. Then I prepared for the upcoming weekend a bit, and logged on here…

Soon to bed, but not for a little while yet.

The weather was not so nasty as predicted, but still quite cold–too cold for this early, a month before winter begins (officially anyway). Still, we got to sing that old standby, “I’m dreaming of a white Thanksgiving…”

I also see I provoked a return of LuvH8… ;-)

bmonk - Due to Goku’s high energy output he can and does eat everything in sight without getting full (for long) and doesn’t gain weight. Those around him can’t believe how much he eats!
