Since I don’t see Joe Allen anywhere: In case anyone is curious (or even if you’re not), “Hoosegow” was an old Wild West-Cowboy corruption of the Spanish “Juzgado”, meaning basically “Court”. Much the same as “vamoose” came from “vamos”, or “vamanos”. You will not be charged extra for this knowledge, nor will there be a test.
