That’s the thing about Calvin and Hobbes, really. Despite all the drama and destruction, there usually is a happy ending. I think that’s why I liked the strip so much for so long.
YAY! I don’t mind telling you my heart’s been in my throat for a few days. This has to be the best series of the entire strip! Now there’s a nagging question — Why didn’t Hobbes jump out at Calvin when he checked his room? Surely that’s the first place he looked…unless of course Mom or Dad were with him.
I agree with Grazer, we need to hear Hobbes version, and I ditto Dino…good night all!
Good MORNING all! Wow! What a relief! And I was like Mike. I remembered a different ending. I guess Hobbes gets lost a couple of times. Once in the woods and the one I was thinking of when he Calvin finds him having tea with Susie Derkins and Mr. Bunny. Any way, glad he’s well. Have a great day all!
For those who remember a different ending, I don’t think it’s over yet - as @grazer suggested 7 hours ago. What is Hobbes’ story, and how will Calvin’s usual side respond to the watch-cat?
It’s so neat reading all the cute sayings and how people felt. I felt that way the first few times I read this strip. My boy was (is) a Calvin and Hobbes nut, thus we have every book every produced with Calvin and Hobbes. And yet here I am re-reading it online. Gotta love it.
Thirdguy,
You’re trying to take all the pun out of it.
When my mother gets home, I’ll have to say, “Mother, may I?”
Actually, my mother is home, with the Lord.
Puddleglum: I’m sorry about your mother. No wonder your glum. I remember when my stepfather found my mother lying unconscious in bed, wheezing. We had an ambulance come to get her. It was scary. My mother was fine, she was taking too much medication.
Royrod: I agree with bmonk, Calvin would be able to tell
Puddleglum2 - I’m looking forward to seeing Him myself some day, but hopefully not too soon. Now Calvin’s parents get the joy of dealing with the police and their insurance company while Calvin and Hobbes get reaquainted. Love to see what Calvin’s mother has to say to the insurance company when they stiff arm her….
The loss of a bossom friend bring grief like Charlie Brown never knew!!
I’m glad to hear this strip is back from the monastery !!
The freshness and honesty in this strip make it one that will prove to be a safe bet it will match and maybe advance on the “Peanuts” kids, with it’s unique ideas and wonderful cartoon skill !!

Guess Hobbes was sorta an ‘undercover’ witness to the whole thing. Gonna be interesting to hear his version.

Could a stuffed tiger’s tail disappear under the covers while the house was empty–or perhaps while it was being ransacked? Hmmm.

@royrod, Calvin would be able to tell. Much loved stuffed animals are never able to be substituted.
If Hobbes had been awake when the burglar(s) were there, he would have been able to bite their heads off.
