I wanted to be an architect. My dad was in RealEstate back in the 50s when I was in HS and I was designing houses because I learned all the symbols used on the plans. Parents refused to let me study that as it was “WAY too competitive for a woman” and I was the only girl in my architectural drafting class (but made A+s). I later studied HVAC design on the job (and a little electrical and plumbing)- made decent money, but I still think I could have been stellar!
