Someone called zucchini the Sorcerer’s Apprentice of vegetables. The Foxes are about to find out why.

My mom said that everyone who works with her keeps their car window rolled up and their doors locked during the summer - if they don’t, their cars get filled with zucchini.

haha….I did the same thing with snow peas. Planted four rows in the garden, but they were old seeds and I did not expect to get many plants….but every bleeep one of them grew. I had so many bloody snow peas, I couldn’t give them all away!

Zucchini, cored, and stuffed with rice, tomato, ground beef or lamb, with the appropriate spices, is wonderful. Stop by a Middle Eastern restaurant sometime and ask for “Mishshee Koosa.” Okra is another of those veggies that keeps on giving. But okra blossoms are beautiful. When I get around to changing avatars, I’ll put one up. You’ll all be thrilled, I’m sure.

Zucchini, like tomatoes, are impossible to give away in August. Try berries, everyone takes them, especially if you slip them in their desk drawers.

You can always pick out the guy without any friends - he’s the one buying zucchini in the grocery store.

Mmm, zucchini! It actually is one of my favorite vegetables – or is it technically a fruit, since it’s actually the stem of a fertilized zucchini blossom?

As a zucchini grower :-) I grate it, seal it in freezer bags, freeze it and we have squash all winter long! Squash patties, squash cassarole, squash cake, squash bread (those i give away at christmas), and still looking for more squash recipes. And yes, my friends and co-workers hide when i arrive with more squash. I’m right there with you Andy!

Take some of your zuash, mix finely chopped asparagus into it, some spices (I like Veggie Spice), add an avocado, puree it all in a blender and serve as a cold dip.

Never tried doing this, but it sounds like it might be okay.

Zucchini is the fastest growing plant in the entire Midwestern United States. Everybody who’s tried to pick zucchini before it gets to a certain size knows this. It can also become like a weed if you’re not careful.

The Central American synonym for zucchini is avocado.

Even better….Zucchini bread or add some to spice cake recipes. No need to tell your friends about the zucchini. They’ll just think you made some really great spice bread or cake. You can fool the kids, too!

@Legaleagle:”In a culinary context, zucchini is treated as a vegetable, which means it is usually cooked and presented as a savory dish or accompaniment. Botanically, however, the zucchini is an immature fruit, being the swollen ovary of the female zucchini flower”. You guys eat OVARIES?

Oh no! With 4,000,001 zucchini, that’s going to make a LOT of loaves of zuchini bread for a bake sale!

Or Andy could take them all and make one jumpo loaf and see if she can win a blue ribbon at the fair.

Where I grew up, we had to lock our doors and windows and set all our alarms, lest a neighbor drop off a basket of zucchini.

Furienna, you may know zucchini as courgette. I think that name is more common in Europe.

Pick some when they are tiny, great stir fries. Never let them grow huge. And they make yummy pickles.

You know, everyone has a joke about Zucchini, but I am here to tell you, my family has a recipe for it. It’s called “corn Jelly” and it is good on chicken, beef, fish beans, anything. IT IS GOOD.

Never plant more than 3 zucchini plants or you’ll be swimming in the stuff. You’ll be like my friend who was leaving zucchini on people’s doorsteps trying to get rid of it. She was like a zucchini ninja.

This had to have been one of the funniest comic arcs Bill ever came up with! As a devoted reader of Foxtrot since it’s inception, IMHO, THIS had to be absolute genius! Bill, if you read this, miss you and this is pure gold!
