Hence the reason I used to sell 10 minutes with my English workbooks for $5.

I figure if they’re gonna make fun of me for being smart, I might as well get a little something back.

Outsourcing of one’s education. Hmm. One of the reasons our country lags behind the world in academics. I wonder how far Pete will make it in life.

Being the smart nerd was sometimes a good thing. In high school I was hired to tutor a family friend’s daughter in math. When I “tutored” we’d go into her room, and they’d shut the door for us so that her little brother wouldn’t interrupt the sessions. Anatomy was an interesting part of math that semester.

Did she fail any tests on purpose so you could continue to “tutor” her?

I have to agree with so many paying others to do their work then they can’t pass their tests. When I went to school I did my own work and my kids did their own work as well as their dad. We where not straight A students but did learn.

First, I totally disapprove of outsourcing one’s education. It’s cheating, and it ultimately cheats the cheater.

Second, wow, Librarian In Training, you were making $60/hr.?! Are you doing that well as an adult? (And I don’t consider that as participating in cheating; you were merely providing a study aid.)

Ummm yeah, that’s $30 an hour not $60, you can start paying me for simple math problems. First one’s pro bono, the rest’ll cost ya!

A math teacher that I had once knew it was pointless to grade our homework, since the answers were in the back. So he just checked to see if we did it (1 point if we did), and our skill came out in the tests

I believe that Peter is about to get a lesson in math just through Jason’s cost calculations

Hopefully he’ll pay attention, he needs it.

Oh, right, right–as I was typing I somehow got “$5 for 5 min.” lodged in my brain. [blush]

4deerinmyyard, no I don’t do that well now. Wish I were. I also made spare cash tutoring after school.

Yep, my notes sold well. I loved writing study guides and letting people copy my notes.

Of course, I didn’t put everything in there. Had to keep the teachers from getting too suspicious, you know.

So I made straight A’s. I pulled most of my classmates up to C’s and B’s.

It’s all about dancing through hoops.

Well–the training for your brain so it doesn’t liquefy helps, too. Something about a correlation between brain use and decrease in Alzheimer’s… can’t remember.

Anyway, plowed through a bunch of calculus in high school and college. Do I use anything besides basic arithmetic? HA. Nope. Graduate school now, finally learning something I’ll use in life. But had to do that calc to get there…

Cheating the cheater - for sure and for certain!! Other countries excel in math and science. It’s becoming that the only thing that the US excels in is borrowing money, gossiping about Hollywood twits and playing video games.

Guess who’ll be leading the world in 8 years?
