Yeah right; like there’s any community in the country where Memorial Day parades don’t attract both the military-worshippers and those afraid of being tagged unpatriotic.
I used to live in a state capital city, where they quit doing fireworks shows for the forth, in the late sixties “due to liability” and still doesn’t hold parades on patriotic holidays. The only time fireworks shows get put on is when merchants finance the thing themselves. The town I live in now has more parades than you can shake a stick at – even for things like Cinco de Mayo, which isn’t an American holiday!
If it’s a lackey you want, you don’t need to go any further than the nearest mirror to see one. I’ve never had much patience for the “love it or leave it” crowd, even when I was in the service myself.
Mostly it just sounds like somebody involved with LtPowers cereal had a Depends accident this morning. And frankly, the folks in that parade look like ROTC cadets rather than active duty / reservists. The uniforms are wrong, and so is the arm swing and hand position. I’m just being picky there.
And I WAS a real LT. (And CPT, and MAJ, if that matters to ya.) Now I’m a real civilian.
If they are enjoying the parade so much, my aren’t they standing up as the flag passes. That is the one thing that pisses me off about people , they have no respect for anything anymore.

But as an ex-member of a local VFW Drum and Bungle Marching outfit, the uniforms of the day were larded with many patches, beanies and ‘extras’..Each towns’ outfit was different, but we did what we did, and in the small towns thereabouts, people had the good sense to stand up when the flag passed.. Fun times.
Here in Albuquerque, we have three parades with huge spectator turnout: the Twinkle Light parade, the Gay Pride parade and the State Fair Parade. Miles of our main road are closed off for hours, and normally it’s 3 or 4 people deep.

I was gonna post something mildly humorous, but it would have been inappropriate in the middle of this angerfest.
