Mike: Weird. That's Deanna's hanger. That's Deanna's cubby where she put her stuff. I wonder if she'll like her new school. I wonder if she'll like her new house. Teacher: Michael? I know Deanna was your friend, and it's too bad she moved away while you were sick. Is there anything you'd like to say, honey? Anything you'd like to ask? Mike: Uh huh. Can I have her place by the window?!

I wish that I could have known my sweetie way back when I was a kid. But, we met at the only time when our relationship could have possibly worked, so life is good.

I wish that I could have known my (ex)sweetie way back when I was a kid. That’s probably the only time our relationship could possibly have worked.

I find this very moving–the sensitivity of that teacher.

I don’t think Michael was being that sweet in the last panel. Judging by the way it’s written, I think he wants the seat because it was near the window, not because it was Deanna’s.

It’s probably a bit of both, he likes the window seat and it reminds him of Deanna. The teacher here is great, there should be more teachers like her.

You all sure are reading this one different than I am. You see sweet…I see Mike-the opportunist.

The word is REAL, Chuck. I am a person with both eyes open. And a bit of an opportunist, myself.

summer, Nothing wrong with that! I can be at times also and occasionally I’ve found that my “trusting/looking for the good” attitude has bit me in the backside at times

Michael, you may have Deanna’s place by the window!
