And some among us thought they were rivets! …Is cloud-jousting anything like cloud-computing?

You’re never stationed ON a ship, you’re stationed IN it.

Justin I am assuming you are acquainted with Studio Ghibli and the work of Miyazaki. (For the uninitiated, this is the film company that produced Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and Pango, as well as my favorite Porco Rosso - all distributed by Disney because the head of PIXAR made it a point in his contract with them). Anyway, did you get to have any contact with them while over there? I would think your work and their would have an interesting overlap. If nothing else, the way Miyazaki integrates Japanese myths into his modern stories.

Hi jestrfyl, I was trying to coordinate a trip to the Ghibli studio but our week was just so busy there was no time to fit it in. The Ghibli museum was closed for the week due to renovation. But I’m going back again in April, hopefully I can get to the studio then. I’d love to meet Miyazaki, but any cartoonist would. He’s the Disney of our time.

Hey, Justin, Welcome back! Glad to hear it was a good trip–including the trans-Pacific “time machine” (I’ve done it several times, and we get a night’s sleep in the bargain).

Justin, you never need to apologize for repeats. For us “newcomers” (I discovered Mythtickle a little over a year ago), they are fresh. For “oldtimers,” I’m sure that they are as enjoyable now as the first time around.

In any case, your artistry makes each panel worthy of repeated study, and the many extra “gags” you put into each strip give everyone something new to discover each time we look at it.

An old tin can went ridin’ out one dark and windy day He stopped up on a ridge as he went along his way When all at once a mighty herd of thunder clouds he spied A’comin’ up the ragged ridge and reachin’ to the sky. Yippy yi yay! Yippy yi yo! Cloud jousting in the sky.
