Wasn’t the US supposed to be metric by 1977?
You look at any indoor competition pool built in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, they’re all 25-meter and not 25-yard. We got lost somewhere along the way. The reasons, whatever value they may have had, amounted mostly to parochialism.
We can never go to the metric system. Nobody is going to feel comfortable going to the store to buy a kilo of white powder (flour)
