I hear ya Clare! What used to be avant garde has been made into elevator music.
Not surprising. Muzak stopped being nothing but “elevator music” thirty years ago and has dozens of channels that provide unmodified Top 40 hits. Most people under 30 don’t associate the word “muzak” with any specific type of music.
Several years ago, when I first heard a Beatles song as Muzak, it was very depressing – now I just hum along.
Heck, I once heard a Muzak version of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” while the Tears for Fears version was still hot on the radio!!
