Real cute, with Memorial Day coming up. I’ve had it with this strip and its sick sense of humor. I’m gone – I know, good riddance to me, I’ll let you idiots have your fun. -US Army Rangers Retired
To hawg: Take a second look at the strip and keep in mind that what the Lame-o-Lakers did in their graceless playoff loss is exactly what the heroes shown the last few days DON’T do, would never think to do. It is irony, not blasphemy. It is an indictment of the abysmal behavior of a few spoiled dirtbags.
and yet no one had a problem with a pilot giving up and crashing a plane? Commentors the last two days seem to be missing that Jeff and Bill are alluding to being glad that not everyone acts like the Lakers did.
I’m a ‘Nam vet (Not just “Vietnam era,” I served in Tonkin Gulf.) and I have the hearing aids to prove it. Unlike Hawgowar, I’m able to understand what I read, and I don’t take offense where none was offered. I also live in LA, and I’m ashamed at how the Highly Paid Lakers acted when they realized that they weren’t going to get Yet Another Inflated Payday. We are a free country, largely due to the efforts of those of us who are willing to stand up and be counted when the bullets are flying and I’m proud to see that there’s still enough of us out there to keep it that way.
Tank can still be pretty good, but sometimes gets a little too inside or milks an idea a little too long. This past week — which also included a Japan quake and airline disaster — has been a bit tone-deaf in its hyperbole.
Strips like Tank McNamara are always going to have timing problems. It takes a couple weeks, at the minimum, to get a strip produced and delivered. Sometimes a situation has been passed and been forgotten by the time the strips hit the paper/computer. . That said, I agree mocking the Lakers as a bunch of selfish spoiled quitters has been old for several years now.

Three notes to the military trolls:
A) It’s just a joke; lighten up.
B) We have no proof that you are who you say you are; don’t try to intimidate us with military ranks.
C) The unfavorable comparison TO our military heroes is precisely the point; this is not an insult.

I spent 22.5 years in the military…and I still get the joke. Geesh, some people are either excellent trolls, or have a horrible sense of sarcasm.

Well, I guess everyone has now forgotten about how Lebron “quit” against the Celtics in LAST year’s NBA playoffs, thank you very much!
