Sydney Phillips & Jim Doherty—thanks for posting the theories about Haku Kou’s name. (I suppose if he’d been born on the mainland, he would have been called King Chameleon.)
Considering that Ponytail is both the movie’s female lead and Doubleup’s partner in crime, how long will it take before Lizz is recognized as a cop? Presumably a local crime lord will recognize a member of the MCS.
BillThompson: you forget a fundamental rule of comic psychology, that (unless/until the story requires it) bad guys are incapable of recognizing a famous good guy in even the most transparent disguise. It has something to do with the way rays of light bend in the comic universe, I think…
It would seem more likely for a stunt double to be larger, rather than smaller than the star in an action picture. Sarah Michelle Gellar, when starring in the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, kept losing weight, and her stunt double matched the weight loss, but complained that she was getting to a weight where she lacked the muscle mass to do the acrobatic stunts.
I am not sure the spoiler alert is necessary, but I’ll be safe. I want to clarify some things that have happened already, but are rather vague. The second panel wording is sort of misleading. When the director says Ponytail, he is talking about the character and not using it as Ms Parks name. Her name is Emma Parks. Doubleup has her as his personal “Ponytail” because of his Scarlet Sting obsession. She was working the set as a lighting stand-in, but just got “let-go” because she is not qualified for stunt work, at least that is the reason they give her. The real actress who portrays Ponytail is currently being filmed in close-ups, etc. on another set. Haku has asked the MCS to investigate the movie production because someone is trying to “shake it down”. Lizz has gone undercover as a stunt double so she can find the extortionist. Haku is also working as a stand-in for The Scarlet Sting, because he is so good with a bullwhip. I hope this clarifies a few things for you all. Now, on with the story….
Very well Sydney, I’ll tip my hat, tip my hat and ask if Beau is still in charge of the old Yahoo group, and if he is, if perhaps you could pass along that I would like to move from pending member status to regular member status. I have a lot to say on Dick Tracy after my long absence from the group, and no way to really say it. One could say I fell asleep over the past few years…Locher’s pacing would do that to anyone. :)Aaron
Hmm !A little conversation here yesterday and today that runs against obvious brevity, and/or extra FAST pacing ?
Seems in a way BillT is also saying this is really Dick Tracy, not Jay Garrick(‘The Flash’) !
Perhaps he (we?) would be happier if there was no need to gloss over a few things and thereby achieve a better understanding of “what’s happened” ?
Back in Locher’s day, in that 2009 Circus story RINGO shouted : “It HAPPENED !” and we had to WAIT, mind you, a full 2 weeks to find out what had ! (?)
WOW ! One extreme to another ? Kilian told us it was an “attention span” thing. Great ! But can we keep up with the Flash ?
Perhaps there’s - ‘a need to’ , ‘a NEED to’, “DOUBLE UP” the LENGTH of these stories so we can grasp the salient facts before the all flash by !

Good Evening All! I still think the costumer means larger Bradley is an alias. Lizz is undercover.

I dunno. Ponytail Parks is kinda tall. I think maybe Lizz “Bradley” does require a smaller-sized costume,Tarry….

Uh oh….looks like Lizz is about to go in Harm’s Way again…

So Ponytail Parks is an accomplice with Doubleup.

Boy, I’m seeing myself age! I’m getting confused! That’s pretty bad when a DT comic strip confuses me.

I’m curious to find out if an oversized costume will have any effect on the story.

This storyline has yet to grab me, as compared to the 1st 2 of Mike & Joes’ run.
Still, it’s better than most other strips at present.

Vista,Don’t you think. don’t you think ? as Doubleup would say that readers here expect a little more substance beyond a daily greeting ?
It’s good to know you are ALIVE, as you smile, but you might TIP your hat, tip you hat, when you say – “good afternoon” ! ;)
