They are finding that those cameras don’t always take photos correctly. There are a lot of people fighting the fines and tickets coming about.

Paparazzi Adam? Um, no. You’re now more infamous than you are famous. By about 2 to 1.

She thinks the fine isn’t too bad? This must be a re-run from the 1950’s. I didn’t think they had traffic cameras back then.

Hope Adam has $450 for the fine…at least that’s what it costs here in California…

If everyone would fight their machine-issued tickets in court, as is their constitutional right, the courts would be so backed up they’d have to stop issuing tickets for a few years. And while you’re at it, let the politicians (who theoretically work for you) know what you think of RoboJustice!

If nobody ever ran red lights, there would be no need for red-light cameras.

Why do so many people think breaking the law is OK so long as you don’t get caught? Yeah, there are certain laws I don’t think should be rigorously enforced, but those are the same laws I don’t think should be on the books in the first place. Traffic laws aren’t among them. When I’m driving, I try never to do anything I wouldn’t do if the car behind me were a police cruiser, even if it’s the middle of the night and there’s nobody else on the road.

Suck it up, Adam. Pay the ticket, and next time remember not to enter an intersection if the light’s already yellow.

Listen. If a law officer were there in person, no one would question his right to ticket a person running a red light. This all happens IN PUBLIC, so there is no invasion of the person’s home or property. The camera merely takes the place of a physical witness on a public street. I have no problem with that, especially as I have personally witnessed so many drivers going through intersections in front of me when I had the green light already.

I don’t understand the cavalier attitude of I don’t think the fine is too bad. It isn’t about the fine, it’s about the fact he ran a red light! In Gaberone, Botswana, I quickly learnt not to pull away immediately on green as there was always someone running the red, and I mean always. Obeying red also almost had me rear-ended a few times.Perhaps if Adam and his wife managed a few points on their driving licences like we do in the U.K. for this infraction, with an automatic driving ban once the limit is reached, the attitude might chnage. Or go to an A&E (ER) and look at the consequences of a red light runner.

Totally agree with Fritzoid too – up here we had a fatal accident close to my house not many months ago when the driver “just” ran a yellow light turning red. I’m all for hating Big Brotherish methods but not this one.

Here in Illinois a basic traffic fine is $120. Figure almost 3 times that in traffic zones. This is for a first offense.
