Have you seen http://joshreads.com , where this strip gets all the respect it’s earned?

Luann is meant to be a typical teenager with various interests revolving around her family, school , friends and her charitable endeavors (such as reading to kiddies in the local library). She is also kind-hearted in that she didn’t want to hurt the feelings of her nerdish close friend (something soooo many other teens wouldn’t think of passing up).

Luann has typical parents who want the best for her and tolerate her various ‘typical teenage behaviors’. The entire strip represents the typical American/Canadian etc. household in a middle class economy. There are a million Luanns in our society who are praiseworthy but easily overlooked simply because they are not atypical. Perhaps the US educational system is failing because society no longer recognizes and encourages those teenagers who are simply doing their best to get along day to day in a world that barely appreciates their efforts.

@Gweedo from yesterday — glad you like my avatar -thanks. I was honored to have it drawn for me by Rodd Perry, of Guy and rOdd. And @ Varnes, me and my friends also grew up saying that in Ohio and Illinois - but not in school. LOL

Good to see that a beauty pageant is an important event in a girl’s life…

Luann seems to have picked an odd place for displaying her Student Pageant sash and crown, but Dad is very accommodating.Teen daughters can usually prevail on their dads that way….

Hey I got an idea Frank. Why don’t YOU start wearing THAT sash and crown? I’ll BET that within a few hours THOSE items would quickly find an honored place, locked up in Luann’s room….,

Well said kfccanada! As for trolls – well, there are a few in every crowd. Best to just ignore them.

Luann – I know your home has a mantel over the fireplace. I saw it in the Christmas strips. That’s where you display awards.

Interesting that only a few days into the existence of this response column, dissenters are being labelled “trolls” once more. I wonder if we’ll go back to the kind of stuff that led to the response column being deleted in the first place. As a dissenter, I reserve my right not only to read this strip but to say what I think of it, which is not always complimentary. I do not normally use this right overmuch, but if I (or others like me) am labelled a troll for doing so, then I will use it to the maximum since I would be blamed anyway.

This week was by no means as interesting as the previous week (at the theater.) - I like to see movement and feel cheated when days pass with a long series with people in the strip simply rehashing past events.

I always thought that a troll was someone who made personal insulting remarks to other commenters, maybe racist and/or sexist. Not liking something in the cartoon is harmless – if those can’t be posted either, what’s left? nothing interesting!

I hope that on Monday things will start moving ahead, no more retrospect. We have not seen Knute and Chrystal for a while , nor Shannon, nor T.J. — and we still know too little of Jonah. But more Luann and Quill will do. But let’s not rehash things with Bernice.

Personally I feel that persons who make the same unfounded criticisms are the trolls because they can’t seem to find anything good to say about the characters they don’t like. They make up traits about well-liked characters and purposely distort Greg’s portrayal of both kinds of participants. Apparently this is done to get to get a discordant dialog going, but all it does is irritate me. I don’t need to hear the same garbage over and over again. I get the message, but I don’t agree with it.

I only now got to comments as it’s been a busy day- saw no trolls (nor want to) and most comments were fairly good. I had 3 very busy things today and 1 emergency that can’t get fixed until Monday.
