Let’s face it, folks, no one will ever call it “YOOR-a-nus” because there are just too many good jokes to tell. Example: “Anyone interested in a telescope that can pick out Uranus?”
Also, the fact that it has a lot of gas, including methane, doesn’t help its case.
No one, SherlockWatson? Think again! I’m used to the older pronunciations of “Uranus” and “Uranian”, and using them doesn’t provoke the vulgarity in my mind that it seems to provoke in almost everyone else’s (shame on you all). But I use the current astronomical pronunciations whenever I can break lifelong force of habit enough to do so.

So THAT’S what Easter eggs hatch into. BTW, save some bittersweet chocolate for me, too.

Neptune is the 3rd largest planet in the solar system. Uranus is the 4th largest – Terry Terman

For the record:
Uranus = Equatorial Radius: 25,559 km http://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/profile.cfm?Object=Uranus
Neptune = Equatorial Radius: 24,764 km http://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/profile.cfm?Object=Neptune
However, Neptune is more massive (same sources). :)
“Third largest” means in diameter, not in mass.

If it’s pronounced the way the Uranoids claim, I’d worry about them getting a tract infection.
