Maybe, but what if Slim figures it out, and decides that a life of crime is the life for him? It may be easier than his current job, and he already looks like a kingpin.

Looks like Ramona’s the brains of this crime duo.

Axe, Slim looks more like a bowling pin, rather than a kingpin.

Can you imagine the spree of stupid crimes Slim would lead his evil minions on? Robbing dumpsters of thrown away food. Disguising themselves as children so that they could use the kids menu. Counterfeiting buy one get ten free coupons to Corkies Restaurant. Oh, the horror…

RE: Yesterdays comment - I was out of town for two weeks, and then had family visit for another couple weeks. It’s good to be back, thanks!

oooooh, they’re TELEPATHS who can read each other’s thought balloons! Mayhaps the Lord Almighty has sent two angels down to test Slim’s competence. Or maybe He is already there, in the form of Walt Wallet, which would explain the longevity.

And just how would you suggest distinguishing whispers from out-loud speech? You obviously had no problem figuring out how the artist intended it.

@gocomicsmember: Whispered statements are distinguished from out-loud speech by having a dashed, rather than solid, outline for the balloon. At least that’s the convention I’ve seen most often.

That’s the image I was going for there. I thought the kingpin was the foremost bowling pin– as well as the head of a crime syndicate. Maybe a real bowler will set me straight. Around here, we have mostly candlepin bowling, and Slim looks nothing like a candlepin!

I agree with you on the convention, and suspect Jim just goofed. If he looked at it today, he probably wondered what he was thinking… or is it whispering?

And to Marseydotes yesterday– your “paper or plastic” joke cracked me up. It was the perfect Ramona Lisa story, from outside the canon.
