The Education of Louis: Finding a Signature. An important endeavor for any seventh-grader, certainly taking priority over paying attention to Mr. Sachsel's discussion on teh causes of the Civil War, is the process of settling on your signature. THe decision will be with you for the rest of you rlife, so you must approach the task with solemn determination. A first effort - obviously nerdy and lacking imagination, using penmanship learned in fourth grade. Quickly rejected. Many attempts at the quick, dismissive signature that shows you're a man on the move. Seems ideal for sigining autographs if you become famous but it may look disrespectful to fans. Kind of cool, but to gimmicky - may seem conceited. Plus, people could make fun of it because the first name looks like "lousy." Blocky signature perhaps for signing brilliant and valuable works of art, but bad for signing checks. Finally, the perfect kick-butt signature is settled upon. Perfect for all occasions, this signature will last

Was never happy with my signature and in my 30’s I worked out a way I liked doing my initials and then turned that into my new signature. Never got mentioned by anyone even once.
