Make Harold Camping pay it, I say!

But if Eddy figured that Flo would be Raptured, then he wouldn’t have to pay his tab anyway.

Always pay your bar tab as if there’s no drinking tomorrow. —Old Bartender’s adage

Rapture tabs seem to be on the same time line as Libertarian tabs.

I lost much of my credit line when I quit drinking. Some I defaulted on.

I take it you are referring to one of the jobs he had on Cheers, beside painting and interior decorating. If so, then yes.

I try to achieve rapture at least once a week.

Don’t nobody forget: God has warned us all. May 21st was the end of Him warning us. And when news cameras show up to Camping’s house on “Octobah 22nd”, I’m curious and curiouser to see how he’ll respond then. (“But—but—-but I—God? Why didn’t you back me UP on this? Are you even THERE?”)

To be technical, October isn’t the “new rapture”, it would be the supposed time that the great tribulation and all the bad things start to happen to the people left on earth, supposing the rapture had actually happened at the stated time.
Dtroutma over 13 years ago
Maybe the “rapture” is a cat thing and we have 8 more to go?
bmonk over 13 years ago
You could go double or nothing for the next few months. If you roll a heads, you win. If you keep rolling tails, and the rapture comes, you win.Reminds me of that old story from Herodotus: "Once there was a thief who was to be executed. As he was taken away he made a bargain with the king: In one year he would teach the king’s favorite horse to sing hymns.“The other prisoners watched the thief singing to the horse and laughed. ‘You will not succeed,’ they told him. ‘No one can.’ “To which the thief replied, ‘I have a year, and who knows what will happen in that time. The king might die. The horse might die. I might die. And, maybe, just maybe—the horse will learn to sing.’ "

Some people with cats on their heads deserve a beer…Others, however, deserve to be cut off from them. This guy in New York is getting a reputation for being an obnoxious panhandler, and seems to be on a downward spiral:

When I see a guy with a cat on his head, I figure I need a beer.

On a more somber note I heard Camping had a stroke earlier today. I guess the Rapture was his way of avoiding the Grim Reaper
orestm over 13 years ago
I notice that Wiley waited until after May 23rd to submit this one… playing it safe on the off-chance there was a rapture?

speaking of rapture. Robert A Heinlein wrote a novel regarding what happens after the end of the world. as I remember it (it was years ago that i read it), it was called “Job, a Comedy of Justice.” i may have to re-read it someday soon.
