I didn’t get this one at all.

It’s a visit from Scary Gary.

I have to get out of bed on mornings when my mind starts running away after I’ve been awake for a few minutes. No snooze alarm for me.

I think it’s a vulture circling his bed…

obviously it’s an erratically flying tiny dragon. there seems to be a lot of those critters flitting about lately. so, what would be weird about an erratically flying tiny dragon infestation?

Maybe he’s done a John Carter, only he woke up on Pern instead of Mars.

If Arlo and Janis live in southeast Georgia then it’s just a mosquito. I think one moved a lamp here in the house last night

I vote on Buzzards… It’s so hot and dry out in New Mexico no one lays in the sun for very long cuz they don’t wanna tempt the buzzards.

My guess is mosquito. Back when I was living in a mosquito zone, many were the nights when I’d be woken up by the sound of one in the room (often disturbingly close to my face), have it vanish as soon as I turned the light on to find it, only to return as soon as I was settled in bed again. Repeat through the night…

Thankfully, there are mighty few mozzies in San Francisco.

I like that, while Jimmy is a thoroughly “modern” cartoonist in the sophistication of his wit, and with his humor thoroughly grounded in real life, he still adheres to some of the fun, old-timey cartoonist conventions — like:Pillows got nipples! (I think it might have been Mort Walker who first pointed out the cartooning standard of nipples at the corners of pillows.)

Dragon. Although living in Georgia I certainly see the merit in moe_the_cat’s remark!

it is kinda funny weird — note the progression, when arlo’s eyes are closed the flying whatever-it-is appears, when he opens them, it’s gone.

Well, I’m glad I’m not the only one who is having trouble figuring this one out. I vote for the mosquito theory, although the dragon theory gets points for good ol’ fashioned humorous weirdness.

It’s a bat and Ludwig is going to save the day. My cat has slapped a couple of ’em out of the air. Think of it as a mouse with wings…..

I’ve been kept awake by a mosquito at night. I finally had to bundle up and leave just one patch of face exposed, with my finger right over it. When the miscreant landed, I squished it, solving the problem. No, it does not help when my dad tells me that only male mosquitos hum, and they don’t bite. It still keeps me up until I stop it.I’ve also gotten rid of house flies in my room. Keep the light off in your room but leave the light on in the hall. The fly will follow the light and leave the dark room.

Come on guys, that’s not a partial thought balloon, it’s an illustration of the erratic flight of a bat….cue Luddy…..Must never had a bat in your house, huh? You sense them before you see them..and when you look, they have already flitted away. He will see it tomorrow….

Maybe it’s a paintbrush that will add some color to this comic without having to click on a button underneath it.
