No, don't touch, Shannon" Brad: "I thought you were gonna relax today" Toni: "I was. Then my brother dropped his kid on me" Shannon: "I touched it" Brad: "Good! That's the "I get to mop the floor button. Here."

Shannon is cool. Brad is way cooler.

Maybe “Bwad” can bring a little (law and) order to the chaos of Shannon’s life!

Good response, Brad! Shannon obviously doesn’t get much quality personal attention at home.

Yay – Brad is getting a good handle on how to interact with Shannon. Instead of fuming that Toni got straddled with Shannon yet again and not getting alone time with her, he moved past that and started to see her and interact with her.

Brad’s relationship with Shannon is something that I have actually drawn on. I now give my youngest relatives a hard time whenever they give me cheek, I just pay it back to them and it is all good. I am still waiting to have pea soup so that I can call it Leprechaun Snot.

Good Grief. Come on folks lets cut to the chase: Brad and Toni, please get married and ADOPT this poor child. Then live semi-happily ever after.

Both Brad and Luanne are good with Shannon, they talk with her on her level but don’t condescend to her. Surprisingly, Brad is demonstrating he’d be a good father (just like his dad). * Since we’re all in a congratulating mood: I’d like to congratulate my trimmer for getting those undisciplined hedges in line. It was difficult but the operation was successful. Congratulations, Trimmy!

Excellent observation, professor! An interesting trend…

All kids have a bit of brat in them. Those without firm adult guidance tend to be more so – but with someone like Brad in her life, Shannon has the makings of a fine person.

The DeGroot clan is the best thing that ever happened to Shannon.

Shannon isn’t really a bad kid. She’s just looking for attention.

I’m not sure I like Toni’s response of “my brother dropped his kid on me”. Brad knows all about the history and situation. There’s no need to make comments like that which Shannon can hear.

I personally believe that Brad and Toni will indeed get married and adopt Shannon; this is why Greg Evans has continually used the Shannon-being-dumped-on-Toni plot line, as a way to set up that scenario (plus, it’s funny!). The way I see it, Toni’s brother is going to cut out and leave Shannon with Toni, igniting a crisis that both Toni and Brad will rise to meet. It will likely take awhile for this to happen, given Greg’s rather leisurely way of telling a story (which I like, BTW), but I’m fairly certain that that is where this particular scenario is heading.

I’m gonna use that on my kids!!

Actually, Brad seems to be more acceptive of Shannon, lately. Maybe it’s because the alternative – her father – doesn’t seem any more impressive in that role than he did in the play. A good long term plan would be for Brad and Toni to get married and become Shannons permanant guardians. I don’t think the legal hurdles would be to daunting. Neither the real mother or father want any thing to do with her. And that would give them all decision making power and all of the tax benefits. Right now Toni is just a frequent free babysitter.

Adoption is a tricky thing. Abandonment by the mother might seem easy, but you would have to find her and let her know that the process is under way or it can bite you very unpleasantly.
Toni’s bro might agree to relinquish his rights but if mom doesn’t, you might have Brad as dad and MS X as mom. That would be an interesting story line.

Along with what you all are saying, Shannon Daytona has a nice ring to it and so does Shannon DeGroot. Same monogram! I was also remembering how TJ and Luann each had some success in coping with Shannon’s hyperactivity. One question – I can’t remember seeing Quill’s last name. Anybody know it? I suppose Tiffany must have said it when she first introduced him, but I can’t remember seeing it.

Brad and Toni get married, adopt the kid and the strip gets renamed “Shannon”.

The scenario where Brad marries Toni and they adopt Shannon is similar to what I thought would happen in For Better or Worse—-where Elizabeth would end up adopting that boy (Jesse) who was one of her students up north. All the hints were there. But it didn’t happen—at least the first time around. Interesting to see if, as the story unfolds again, that the author will change the script, as she hinted she might.

Brad’s response to Shannon is great! It is the perfect answer to bratty misbehavior.

Good to see you’re here too, Sheriff. I don’t think I’ll fight the Law.

Maybe Brad is more relaxed about Shannon because he and Toni are getting a lot more alone time that we don’t actually get to see. Private matter, you know.
