This is one of the best strips in the series. It’s a great way to introduce the character of Hobbes. Does anyone else notice that the drawing style change throughout the course of the series?

Dad looks pretty much the same, but Calvin doesn’t call him “Pop” anymore. Calvin was more of a stick figure in the beginning.

It is neat to watch how the Characters quickly transform as the artist gets more accustomed to drawing them. I wonder if Bill ever looked back at his earlier sketches and went, “Wow, has that ever changed!”

This could compete with Lio for best opening comic strip ever. I LOVE YOU C+H!!!

Tigers do love fish and they feel more comfortable in water than any other wild cat, but I am pretty sure they do not have access to bread in any forms.

Bill Watterson said that he used this first strip to introduce Calvin with Hobbes, but later realized it wasn’t necessary. I’m glad for this first strip nonetheless.

There are many fine comics out there, but there will never be another Calvin and Hobbes. I will forever love this comics.

Calvin and his pet tiger Hobbes are playing in Hangman in the backyard waiting for a visit from Uncle Max.

This is the first time I’ve read C&H. It’s going to be a while before I get through the entire series. :D

My hometown paper didn’t pick up the strip for several months, so I didn’t see this strip in the newspaper either. This is one reason I’ve been grateful for the book collections.”

Calvin and Hobbes is possibly the most imaginative comic and one of my favorites and I recommend it. I still think peanuts is the greatest comic strip of all time

This strip debuted the same day Mr. Snuffleupagus was finally revealed to the adult cast of “Sesame Street!” It’s neat that both share the milestone, and both involve “imaginary friends.”

I came here after watching “Dear Mr Watterson” and remembering just how much I loved reading Calvin & Hobbes as a kid. I used to read them to my younger brother complete with sound effects. I cherish those memories with my all.
