Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for July 15, 1989
Transcript:
Calvin: I'm so smart it's almost scary. I guess I'm a child progeny. Hobbes: Most children are. Calvin: Huh? Hobbes: Nothing. Calvin: People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realize how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world. Hobbes: Isn't your pants zipper supposed to be in the front?

Progeny? Well, every child is a descendant. But Calvin is a prodigy in his own way.

No, Calvin, you are not a prodigy. Not even Emil of Maple Hill was a prodigy (thanks, Astrid). This is a conversation that most parents probably should have with their non-genius children.

Not child “progeny”, child prodigy. You clearly aren’t that smart, Calvin.

There’s an error here. “Progeny” refers to descendants. I think Bill Watterson meant to say “prodigy”.
