I had a tree like that once. We went on a school field trip to learn about Smokey the Bear & forest conservation. After the speakers & slideshow, we were given a small spruce to plant. Mine was the smallest of the group & was barely 6" tall. Dad planted it at the border of trees in the back yard, but one time Mom was mowing the lawn and accidentally ran it over. It never recovered
