Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for March 26, 1992
Transcript:
Miss Wormwood: Did you even read the history chapter I assigned? Calvin: I tried to, Miss Wormwood, but the book publisher didn't use the proper print fixative. Needless to say, when I picked up the book, all the letters slid off the pages and fell on the floor in a heap of gibberish. I think my excuses need to be less extemporaneous.

“Fell on the floor in a heap of gibberish”Well, I’m sure THAT’s what it LOOKED like to Calvin after he dropped the book on the floor – all the words WERE gibberish.

Oh, I just hate it when all the words fall off the page and land in a heap of gibberish. Completely ruins my day.

the first time I read this, I actually thought he was telling the truth, and I was mad at Ms. Wormwood for sending him to the office, but it was very long ago
