Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for June 03, 1993
Transcript:
Calvin: Miss Wormwood, could we arrange our seats in a circle and have a little discussion? Specifically, I'd like to debate whether cannibalism ought to be grounds for leniency in murders, since it's less wasteful. For some reason, they'd rather teach us stuff that any fool can look up in a book.

The funny thing is, this is actually a real discussion that happens in first-semester law school. Criminal law, to be precise. Not necessarily the wasteful part, but the whether murder for cannibalism as a necessity for survival should be treated more leniently than other methods and causes for murder. The case that’s discussed is R v Dudley and Stephens (which can be found on Wikipedia under that name). What basically happened was that a group of sailors were shipwrecked and adrift for a while, and during this time, in order to survive, they ended up cannibalizing one of their crewmates. It’s an interesting case, if you have any interest in legal precedent.
