Ok, it is not political. However, it wierdly echoes what the “Bilderbergers” and the “Illuminati” are said to be planning for the “common” people of this world
God has always sent a plague or war to thin us out. 6 billion going rapidly to 8. Hey God, you listening?A modern man lives 4 generations. If a modern couple reproduces themselves with two more, ah heck, here’s my slide rule. 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 does not equal two. Now multiply by 3 billions, drop the wars, and carry the 4 child families. Is that eleventeen or umpteen billion? Who are your grandchildren going to eat in 40 years? Amd think, you will still be here to watch them
I’m reminded of an old favorite Far Side comic, in which a few deer are out hunting (with rifles) in an urban office space. Bambi bags a good one! And there’s a comment about thinning the herd. Population control is beyond our reach. Someone else needs to step in and help. It would solve so many problems!
Men don’t need to hunt today, all meats are readily available at the butcher. So why are there men who hunt? I could see if you live in the great outdoors, and are too poor to actually purchase meat, but to drive somewhere with your gun just to kill an animal is all ego. Men attempting to prove to themselves they are men. If a man really wanted to prove his manhood, he would hunt with only a knife, tracking his prey on foot, then ambushing it and taking it out hand to hoof. To sit on your a** looking through a scope, then pulling the trigger is really just chickens**t
Wiley has long recognized that bears are more “civilized”, and “sharing”, than humans, and that along with the “right to arm bears”, role reversal might be appropriate. Bears for example will defend THEIR territory, but don’t spend all their time taking over the “human territory”- it certainly doesn’t work the other way ‘round. Spent most of my life working around (and for) “wild” life, and I’ve never seen them (“wild” animals) behave as badly as the “average” human society. “Civilization” may be the ultimate oxymoron.
Reminds me of a cartoon in the Rapid City Journal where two Indians were headed to the first Thanksgiving celebration and commenting about the Pilgrim’s inability to speak the language or support themselves.
I don’t know how we ever got off the launch pad. We can neither run as fast as prey nor pedators. We should have either straved or been eaten out of existence.
Of course it is a political TOON. Is it politically correct to thin the buffaloe herd in Yellowstone so they don’t suffer and die of starvation in the winter? But wait, mostly the weakest and least fit are the ones to perish and so the herd’s DNA becomes stronger. Don’t talk like that. Humans are being civilized when they help other humans in difficulty, but are weakening the human DNA. Opps. That sounds like Nazi logic. Ohh…There is no hope for common sense. Ha Ha.
I love bears…and respect them! This is a great strip because I sort of agree with the bears! ZPG! (Even the Dalai Lama says – with a chuckle – there are too many people!)
The bears have the right idea, but they’re going after the healthiest, smartest members of the species. If they really want to thin the herd, they should go see the simps and weaklings who never leave their city herds!

Thinning the human herd or the hot dog herd? Or both?

Thinning the human herd is what invading alien armies are for. The flying saucers will start to land in five minutes.

Heck, this could be a political or even a racial strip: These two black bears come upon these two white dudes…
but I agree, it is nothing more than funny.

According to early historians that talked to cannibals, people do taste like pork and in some places that meal was referred to as “long pig”!

Camping out and cooking in bear country is de facto proof that you’re the part of the herd that needs to be thinned.

History says we’ve been pretty good at thinning our herds without any help from bears.

You have touched on what I believe to be the essence of the world’s problems: too many people.
