God created a perfect world. He then gave man free will. Man used that will to disobey God, thus corrupting the world. So, don’t call them ‘Acts of God’. They are the ‘Results of Man’.
“Free will” isn’t bad, but it can enable bad things. As I understand it, God gives us free will in order that we can choose whether or not to follow God’s word and God’s teaching. If you are not free to refuse, then you cannot truly accept. Again, as I understand it, this was one of the main doctrinal issues behind to Protestant Reformation.
Free will? So I guess all the Egyptian firstborn “free willed” themselves to death? Oh, that’s right. God had them killed to prove a point. So much for an all loving god.
Wow, how appropriate that this ’toon appears on the day after CEO Rupert Murdoch testified that he knew nothing about what his nefarious underlings were doing!
As described there by authors Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett: “The Voice of God. But not the voice of God. An entity in its own right. Rather like a Presidential spokesman.”

Since Jesus was God’s spokesperson, I guess this is Coverly’s way of saying that Jesus was black.
