but disbeys by keeping the dog tied up all day and night, 24/7! That’s the cruel part!

If the dog is tied up, why the fence?

Also the first panel is wrong, how about one squashed on the road or being put down because he bit a child? All because his lazy stupid owner doesn’t walk him on a leash.

To prevent cruelty to dogs, don’t get one unless you have the time, space and willingness to let it have a REAL life.

I think the point of this strip is to remind us how important it is to get our buddies out of the yard. How would you like to be stuck in a place with a fence 5 feet higher than your head, day after day, year after year? Dogs need mental stimulation and to social ize w/ other dogs.. To put them in the back yard and never get them out is awfully cruel. If you don’t have at least 30 minutes a day to go out with your dog, why have one? As far as safety and laws go – join w/ other dog lovers and develop a dog park in your community.

Cats spend all their time sleeping and only a few consider doing much else. Indoor cats beat outdoor cats. We have a neighborhood full of yellow cats because of one unfixed tom.

C’mon people, stick to the spirit of the first panel, or if you can’t grasp that then think of it portraying a lovely, large dog park.

The first panel is at a dog park where dogs can run and play off the leash.
