They also all think we rode horses to school. When I tell people (while using my Standard Midwestern default speech patterns) that I’m from Texas, most of the time the next thing they say is some variant of “You don’t sound like a Texan”. My normal response is to drawl “Whul, jest wha tha hail du yawl thin a Tecksun sounds laikh?”
That’s the problem of US medicine in general. We have the greatest facilities in the world for rare and expensive diseases, but in the 20s and 30s from the top for longivity, death from common diseases, general health.
Misconceptions about others is always difficult. Even when I moved to AZ I thought every desert was made of sand. Actually we have the same nasty hard clay soil as most of IL where I lived before. Most of the year we DO have a very dry climate which is great (no frizzy hair) but we have 2 or more months if “monsoon” which may give rain or just nasty humidity.
And we are still on OBH topic (which is mis-conceptions about others). Joe assumes that Wolf and others in his aquaintence are used to everyone having servants.
My 100 year old farm house has wooden fire stops in the walls separating the first and second floors. I have no idea what kind of wood it is, but when I had to drill a hole through it for an Internet cable, I went through a whole set of drill bits before I got through! It’s a lot like concrete — it must be petrified wood…

We seem to have strayed off the OBH topic.
