Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for August 02, 2011
Transcript:
Gene: Can I ask you something, Mary Lou? Mary Lou: Shoot! Gene: Is this old boat special to you somehow? Maybe something before me? Mary Lou: I hardly set on it until you moved aboard! Why? Gene: Your pop calls it your "Diary" and he always grins at me when he says it! Mary Lou: Not "Diary," silly! Mary Lou: Dowry!

Dowry is a little close to the M-word. Looks like Gene isn’t ready for the M-word yet.

Arlo should be ecstatic; he gets a daughter and a boat!

I imagine G&ML will plan to get the schooner, sell it to A&J for a great price, then use that money as a down payment on the farm. Where’s Meg, by the way?

Throughout Gene’s life there has been a constant thread. He hears the wrong words and his girlfriend at the moment thinks he’s funny. Good character development over the decades.
