@Hobbes, I was just going to say that! The Onion is pure entertainment and everything written is fake. I coach debate that is one of the first things we teach them! Oh, and never quote Wikipedia, because you can put anything in it. Have a -great weekend, everyone! Watch out for sharks, monsters, and maybe even a tiger or two?
I remeber when I first started reading C&H I was crushed to hear he was “retiring” and I thought “what’s THAT about”. Now I really want to know….was it the Chevy stencil? That MIGHT explain it….but it’s still pretty childish……hmmmm…
Calvin doesn’t hate baths — he hates getting INTO the bath. At least that was how I always was as a child — I never wanted to take a bath, but once in, I never wanted to get out!
It’s too bad because Waterson is penalizing the readers who are guiltless. We have no control over what the syndciates require of him. Perhaps he could save these strips and put them into an anthology. No syndcates to deal with and he could contract on his own terms.
Okay, I think we really need to understand that Bill Watterson did not retire out of anger at the syndicate. He and Lee Salem and others actually have quite a good relationship. He simply ended the strip because he was done writing it, and I think he was smart for ending while the strip was on a high note, rather than letting it decay like so many other comic strips we see.
Getting Mom riled up is a SNAP (or two) for Calvin, and add a THRASH and a YAHH for emphasis!BTW, Calvin is rabidly resourceful; he utilized the “deep” bathwater to perpetrate his nefarious scheme to frighten and exasperate his mother out of her wits!
Some suggested playing tub submarine yesterday. Calvin’s idea is much better! haha!======-Martin, it’s all psychological. You yell barracuda, everybody says, “Huh? What?” You yell shark, we’ve got a panic on our hands on the Fourth of July. – Mayor Vaughn -
A wikipedia article about Baron von Richthofen (aka, the Red Baron) briefly had a statement that he’d been shot down by “Snoopy Brown” (as opposed to Arthur Roy Brown, who is generally credited with the kill). It has since been corrected, but does illustrate the fact that Wikipedia can be incorrect. -————— Oh, and my five-year-old daughter often complains about getting in the bath, but you can’t get her out once she’s in!

I just read the article you mention Richard. It seems a bit of a screwy way to carry on.

When I gave the new puppy his first bath, I was smart enough to undress first.

That’s funny! Maybe there’s a chance the satire might shame Watterson to start publishing again.
