Why does Susie call Calvin Dandelion Head? I have not heard that epithet before. Is it because he has no substance (just a lot of fluff), or he’s scatter-brained, or what?
@Puddleglum2…Susie called Calvin a ‘dandelion head’ because his blond, spiky hair looks like the top of the dandelion flower which is called a dandelion head. The fluffy yellow bits are attached to the seeds and they float away in the breeze.
Poor Susie! Hope always springs eternal for her. Rather than avoiding the little “dandelion head” like the plague because he’s always so mean to her, she keeps coming back with a big smile on her face, hoping that this is the day he’ll finally let her play with him and Hobbes! Unfortunately for her, he never does.
It is a great tribute to Bill Watterson that there are consistently more comments on this strip, even though it has been complete for a long time, than any other strip! It hits the heart of everyone with timeless ideas.

Calvin apparently thinks “fhere’s a method to his madness”, but to me it seems more that there’s a madness to his method.

Bet Susie is related to Lucy from Peanuts. Both blowhards.

It just occured to me that politicians are a lot like diapers. They both need changing occasionally for the same reason.

Hobbes is irritated because he wanted Suzie to stay so he could get some “smoochies” from her. Calvin shot that one down, at least for that day….

If Calvin DID let Susie play, he’d have to revoke his life membership of G.R.O.S.S

Better bored than with a cootie-ridden girl… at least when you are six.
