Seems like we can’t let kids enjoy an occasional treat anymore without someone guilt-tripping them about the calorie content. What is wrong with us?

From a simple look around (as well as national statistics on obesity), I don’t think the problem is abstinence from occasional fatty meals.

Maybe there shouldn’t be so many new kids to worry about. The recent ones aren’t face with a great future, because the bunch before them sold out. All this other stuff is mis-direction.

Imanartisthoney: Ah, Canadian content! The wheetabix and porridge gave it away. My wife, upon first encountering porridge, said “I thought that was what the three bears ate.” A little culture shock is good for you too.

Most obesity among kids nowadays is because a lot of them don’t get the exercise we did at that age. Heart and Dean obviously don’t have that problem, even ignoring the fact that they’re cartoon characters. Take away the nannies telling kids they can’t play tag and the lawyers shutting down school playgrounds and you’ll see kids that are both physically and mentally more healthy. That being said, I still make pancakes or waffles once in a while for supper.

I love breakfast foods, but not getting up at 4 a.m. to cook and clean up in the morning. So, about once a week I fix pancakes, waffles, french toast, omelet or eggs for dinner. It’s only me, so I’m not worried about kids.

Dean thinks she’ll be jealous of his McDonald’s slopburger?! I’d MUCH rather have the waffles!!! (Although with sausages, not bacon.) Maybe he’s never had a real waffle with real maple syrup, so doesn’t know what a treat Heart had…
