How in health did BD ever get a child as sweet and bright and insightful as Sam? Smarter than both Mom and Dad! Perplexing!

Boopsie’s gotten refreshingly hip to the world over the years,Dylan. But she loves and stands by her man,so go figure.

It’s a cartoon, people, the creation of a satirical genius. Yer creepin’ me out here.

I think there should be a special election to finally choose between beauty contest and popularity show. No candidate would be allowed to speak, and if elected, this restriction would last four years.

It appears that our choice is going to come down to Romney or Palin or Bachmann or Perry vs. Obama. Which way to the egress?

You can’t tell me that Caribou Barbie didn’t collaborate with Trudeau on this one! It’s got her unique version of the English language off to a tee.

I really think it’s quite amusing how she blabbers on about the “liberal mainstream media”, when the media in fact follows here wherever she goes and never misses a chance to give her press coverage. Remember the “trick question” she got that led to her mangling of the Paul Revere story? “What sights have you seen today”? Or remember “what magazines and newspapers do you read?”

When you look at the second-generation Doonesbury characters, a disconnect from their parents seems more likely than the contrary. BD and Boopsie brought forth Sam. Rick and Joanie brought forth Jeff. Mike and J.J. brought forth Alex. (For that matter, Joanie and her first husband brought forth J.J.)

Of course, Mike was fundamentally different in attitude than his mother, and Mark and his father were usually at odds.

In the end, children are their own people, not merely continuations/combinations of their parents….

Did someone just malign a bucket of gravel? Sir, buckets of gravel have feelings too, and don’t appreciate being compared to the likes of Palin or Bachmann. That kind of comparison just makes my handles rust ….

OK, asaid, I’ll bite. What if she DID say that Allah was telling her to run? How would YOU feel about that? How would you feel about ANY candidate invoking Allah in regards to a campaign decision? That’s how many of US feel about the various GOP candidates clamoring for (let alone claiming) Jesus’s endorsement.

If “you’re gonna have to serve somebody”, why not have it be the American People, or perhaps the U.S. Constitution, with its separation of Church and State?

I understand why so many piled on after that happened, since it’s so fun to trash Palin because we’ve been informed that she’s such an idiot, but it’s not clear why you’d bring that up now, now that her statement that Revere warned the British has been proven to be correct.

One of many mysteries I’ll never see solved, I suppose.

Dylan may have said “You’re gonna have to serve somebody”, but Jesus said “You CANNOT serve TWO masters.” By that token, perhaps anyone who believes the duty to God outweighs the duties of elective office should take themselves out of the running.

Re: the cartoon; I don’t believe Bachmann wears falsies.

Got to admire B.D. He can pop Jiffy-Pop. I’ve never been able to, nor do I know anyone who ever actually got a full pop.

Like the microwave stuff is any better, count. The key to the jiffy is to keep moving the pan on the burner so you get even heat. Reading the instructions is actually a plus. Air poppers for the legit corn are actually the best at the job.

May Palin run again. May she get the nomination! May we all get the good laughs we need in this dismal campaign

So now, having read about a week of missed strips, I will put in my 2 ¢ worth of comments:

dt π: You have said “I also believe that Obama has betrayed the base that provided the political oomph that propelled him into power”. I do wish I knew in detail what you are referring to, because I think if I had lived in the US recently I would have been part of the base that you mention. When I lived in the US, I had no trouble following Doonesbury, because I was up to date with US politics. But now I live in Canada, and I am very proud of myself when something happens that I can follow.

In fact I remember talking to a British friend about living in the US, and the first thing she said was, “Lucky you! You can read Doonesbury!”

Various people have commented that this is “only a comic strip”. What’s so “only” about a comic strip? It’s a form of creative writing like anything else. People are affected by it – well, that’s to the credit of the author and the reader, together.

I guess when the left looks around at all their women in politics and public office and only sees what look like men with big butts or fat ugly cows, the jealousy that the Republicans have some great looking female politicians bugs them.

These cartoons remind me of being written by some grouchy old man who is always too busy being bitter to make funny comics. :/
