This reminds me of the old Lassie series, Jeff’s Collie. Jeff and his chubby buddy Porky were trying to see if Lassie would come to their rescue if they were injured. What happened was, Jeff really got hurt but his Mom and Gramps didn’t pay any attention to Lassie because they had her running to them for help so many times. It was a Cry Wolf type of episode.
Reminds me of our old dog Lucky. I once tickled my teenaged son until he was on the floor laughing (didn’t take much, he was/is extremely ticklish) and Lucky pounced on him, too.
