Big Nate by Lincoln Peirce for September 14, 2011
Transcript:
Principal Nichols! Can I paint a mural in the cafetorium? We already have a mural, Nate. But that's just a painting of trees and flowers! Mine would show great figures in world history! Hm! You've got wuite a lineup here! Yes, I do! Now, who is...? That's me. Right next to Zach Galifianakis.

I guess it would be only fair because he was the one who came up with the idea. Still, that is one big ego.

Who is Zach Galifianakis??? ?
StoicLion1973 about 13 years ago
@Frogman_tg – he’s a so-so comedian/actor who specializes in playing oblivious characters.
Funny how one person’s sense of “greatness” is determined by age and generation.

ha ha thought nate would do that! btw carl i read all of your comics and they are great i like the dog the best.

oh and another thing, why were you guys fighting yesterday?

Which raises the question, when are murals passe? I imagine the kids get tired of seeing the same thing for five years. I don’t like the one in my kid’s “cafetorium” too much.

Uhh, Zach Galifaniakis is genius. Watch “between two ferns” and if you don’t think they’re great. Then we’ll have to agree that you probably like your humor a bit gentler and watered down. No offence of course.

Lincoln, that would be a great outlet for creative students that you should really look into promoting. Here in Portland Maine, we have a “legal wall” where anyone can paint whatever they want on a stretch of wall along the walking path on the Eastern Promenade. Not only does it cut down on the illegal graffiti in town, it changes constantly and usually has some great pieces of art on it.

I saw an article in the paper (yes, an actual dead-tree publication) on the Latrobe (Pa.) High School collection of art. Forget the mural, Nate, check this out!http://www.americanprofile.com/articles/high-school-students-collect-priceless-art/

“… Especially if they don’t sign the work. "Nice try. Nate signs everything, even his Dr. Cesspool comics. His character is self-obsessed by definition, but that’s why we all like him. 30+ years ago, I thought the same way, except I couldn’t draw a toy pistol out of a holster. I’d like to say it gets better, but…

that’s his own style, nate style.
