“I meant well” is pretty much the same as, “all due respect.”

With all due respect, where were the good intentions?

    I meant well.

Or like awarding an Emmy for best comedy to a mediocre clichéd show such as MODERN FAMILY. I’m sure they meant well. . ..

At least Obama meant well. Recent Republican presidents have been pure evil.

Rat just left out a couple of words, that’s all…. “I meant (to aim it) well.”

    And he did.

Is ‘I meant well’ going to be Obama’s reelection platform?_____Umm, nobody’s whining about you. We can see what you are. This is a comics board and there was nothing political in this strip today.

Isn’t ‘I meant well’ in line with… ‘Just saying…’ – before the insult? And… amen to Pokerfaced Parrot. Peace, love & All Is Well!

“I meant well” depends on who is saying it. I suppose that even Hitler could be said to have meant well, in the sense that he did what he did in order to accomplish what he honestly believed were good purposes. (Sincerity and integrity are only relatively good qualities.) Real, actual evil — willingly choosing to hurt and destroy, deliberately, knowingly, with no physical or mental compulsion, or any “good” reason — does exist, but thankfully it’s rare..Not that being a psychopath like Rat (or Hitler) is an excuse, of course. There are objective standards of right and wrong, by which both intentions and results are judged.

    @Parrot:

“And nothing like taking credit for taking out Bin Laden when Obama’s cabinet advisers actually gave the go ahead.”

This claim contradicts the actual known facts. Just because someone forwards an email to you doesn’t make it true. Remember – when Obama said that he’d attack bin Laden in Pakistan with or without Pakistan’s permission, every Republican pointed out that it was proof of his incompetence in foreign affairs. Palin even talked about how Obama was so ignorant that he had said he was going to bomb “our ally, Pakistan”. He said he would do it. He did it. Luckily he didn’t need Congressional permission, or the Republicans would have filibustered it.

All I know is, there has been no successful terrorist attack in our country since Obama became president, and 2 of the top 3 leaders of al quaeda are dead at the hands of US forces (along with many other high ranking members).

Just like when rude people barge past you while murmuring, “Excuse me” like that somehow makes cutting in front of you in line okay. (P.S. – All that political bull should be relegated to the Editorial Cartoons section)

You know, it’s cool that a simple comic could stir such different reactions. But not cool when readers proceed to vent their unrelated praise or venom on the site. I love this strip and the daily commentary, which is sometimes funnier than the strip itself. (I even look forward to seeing particular people’s comments.) I have very strong political views myself. I don’t need to hurl them at those who see things differently. Please keep this kind of stuff to yourself and your friends, and leave others out of it.

“Some hate filled liberals on this board need to look up the definition of “evil”.

“Then quit ruining the PBS board with political BS.”

But all the political commentators meant well.

I think Rat would do well in the South. We southerners can say anything we want about anybody. The key is to finish with “Bless their heart” Example. “He’s such a moron, Bless his heart”

By the way, I’m flagging all political comments…. Had a hard time sorting out what applied to PBS

Before I went to college I was burning garbage and set the wooden fence between my family’s property and my neighbors’ property on fire. It was completely destroyed and had to be replaced. If the had had come up any more a field of wheat would have gone up. I meant well.
