    Sometimes I wonder how Shakespeare would feel about what he wrote as bawdy entertainment being force fed to high schoolers to “analyze” how great it is (not that it isn’t great, but I think Shakespeare would have rather seen people laughing at it being performed than grumbling about writing an in-depth analytical paper about it!).

    @Xane_T — I know! I starting reading Shakespeare’s plays when I was 9, pretty much of my own volition. A few years later, I acted in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Much ado About Nothing. Consequently, I came to really love Shakespeare. It’s a shame that other kids would have to experience it so differently.

    I had Shakespear in HS had to read the book and I did not understand any of it. Same as poetry trying to decipher the lyricks into two different sonics and I did not understand and my grade showed at that time I did not understand. I hope not the only one who received a bad grade.

    In my earlier days my favorite movie was “Romeo and Juliet” with Olivia Hussey and Leo Whiting.
